Chapter 104: INTO PARADISE VAMPIRE COVEN
{"The best journey takes you home to the one you love." }
"You are already mated, Tor Gale, to the Kayne vampire. The Lycan ancestors knew this would happen and it did. You mated under the magic of Hanka Island"
I took a step back, my heart hammering against my ribs. The words settled into my bones like they had always been there, waiting for me to accept them.
"Yes, I am mated, so what?" I repeated, my voice barely above a whisper.
The Guardian nodded. "The Lycan was created to bring balance to the realm, but balance can only be achieved through unity. You and the Vampire Lord, your fates are entwined. Together, you are the peace this world seeks." His voice lowered, dark and foreboding. "But with your rise, so too will rise the evil that lurks in the shadows and its greed for your powers will immensely affect the realm"
I forced myself to breathe, to think. "What evil?"
"The kind that seeks to corrupt your bond, to twist the power you both hold. It will move toward three divine places, Hanka Island, Bloodstone Mountain, and Sagstone Mountain. If it reaches them, the realm will fall into chaos. The only thing that can stop it is the strength of your bond."
I clenched my jaw, my mind spinning. "What if they get to our mating bond?"
The Guardian’s face darkened. "Then the realm will never know peace again."
A heavy silence settled between us, broken only by the distant hum of magic pulsing in the walls. I had believed I was just another Alpha, born to lead and protect my kind. But I never expected that Gale and Kayne would be the threat to this world.
I glanced at Rou, overseeing me, waiting for my response. My mind flashed to the Ferryland, all I wanted was to get to Paradise Coven as fast as possible."
The Gale clan had hidden this truth for generations, fearing what would come of it. But destiny did not care about fear, and it had made its choice.
And now, I had to make mine.
I exhaled slowly, feeling the weight of the Guardian’s gaze settle upon me like the very mountain itself. The air was thick with ancient power, humming through the sacred chambers of Ragar. My fate had been decided long before I ever stepped foot here. Now, I had to claim it.
The Guardian stepped forward, his silver eyes gleaming with knowledge passed down through generations. In his weathered hands, he held a ring, an artifact of the Gale bloodline, pulsing with dormant power: the Lycan Gale ring.
"This will protect the bond," he said, his voice carrying the weight of centuries. "It will strengthen what must not be broken. The connection between you and Vampire Frery Kayne is the key to the realm’s peace. This ring will shield the bond from those who seek to sever it."
I swallowed hard, my fingers twitching at my sides. The mere mention of Frery’s name sent an unspoken force coursing through my body, a tether I could not explain nor ignore. This was real. This was happening. Slowly, I reached out and took the ring. It was heavier than I had expected, cold at first touch but warming against my skin as if it recognized me. I slid it onto the second finger of my right hand, feeling the energy pulse within me. A promise. Fate sealed.
I lifted my gaze to the Guardian and bowed low, pressing my fist to my chest. "Thank you, Guardian of Ragar. I will honor the path set before me."
The Guardian only nodded; his expression unreadable. "Go forth, Alpha Tor Gale. The mountain has given you passage, but your true test lies ahead."
I turned to find Rou waiting at the entrance, his sharp eyes scanning the sacred chamber one last time before we stepped out. The moment we left the mountain’s depths, the air shifted, the weight of the past lifting as we emerged into the world once more. At the foot of the mountain, Rou and I turned back, bowing in respect. The wind howled around us, carrying whispers of ancient voices. The mountain had guided us, but our journey was far from over.
"Come on, I need to make it to Hanka Island before dusk," I said, straightening.
Rou nodded, his usual silent agreement. We set off, the path stretching before us as the skies darkened, the scent of salt in the air signaling our approach to the caves that would lead us to the island.
As we reached the cave entrance, Rou finally spoke, his voice steady but firm. "We should travel together."
I frowned. "No. I will go alone."
Rou crossed his arms. "That’s foolish, and you know it."
I let out a low growl. "Rou?"
"I am the best guardian for you, Tor. You know that. Traveling to Paradise Coven won’t be easy. It will be dangerous and unpredictable. You need someone watching your back." His tone left no room for argument. I stared at him for a long moment, my mind racing. I had spent years leading, making decisions that carried the weight of my pack, my people. But this... this was different.
Finally, I let out a sharp exhale and gave a single nod. "Fine. We go together."
A small smirk tugged at the corner of Rou’s lips. "Glad you’ve finally learned to listen."
I shook my head, but deep down, I knew he was right. Without another word, we stepped into the cave, our path lit by the glow of bioluminescent moss. The air grew thick with the scent of the ocean, and ahead, the cavern opened to the endless waters leading to Hanka Island.
The moment my foot touched the ground of Hanka Island, the earth trembled beneath us. A deep, resonant vibration rippled through the land, as if the island itself had awoken. The sand shifted under my boots, and the trees lining the beach swayed in response to the unseen force.
Rou stiffened beside me, his sharp gaze darting across the shoreline. His eyebrows rose as he took in the unnatural movement, his stance shifting slightly in caution. "What the hell is that?" he muttered, his voice edged with wariness.
I exhaled slowly, feeling the familiar pull of the island’s magic settle over me. "It’s Hanka," I said. "The magic here recognizes my bloodline. Every time I set foot on this island, it stirs."
Rou nodded, though his expression remained unreadable. He turned to the beach, his feet sinking slightly into the damp sand as he closed his eyes and pushed his magic outward. I felt the shift in the air, the ripple of his energy reaching out to test the surroundings.
After a moment, he exhaled and turned back to me, his expression set. "The only way to sneak into Paradise Coven is through the water channel."
I glanced at the dark expanse of the sea before us, the waves crashing rhythmically against the shore. There was no hesitation in Rou’s stance as he stepped forward. And then, without another word, his body shuddered, bones cracking as he shifted.
The transformation was seamless, his form stretching, limbs elongating, and fur rippling across his body. Within moments, his Rogourau beast stood before me, massive and powerful. His dark, scaled hide shimmered under the moonlight, his eyes glowing with an otherworldly light. Lowering his head slightly, he motioned for me to climb onto his back. I did not hesitate. I stepped forward, gripping onto the thick fur at his neck as I hoisted myself up. The moment I was settled, Rou pushed forward, his powerful legs carrying us into the water. The sea parted around us as he moved, cutting through the waves with terrifying speed. The wind howled, the scent of salt filling my lungs as we surged forward into the unknown territories, hoping that we would not find trouble along the way.
It was late into the night when we finally arrived at a hidden beach at the borders of Paradise Coven. The journey through the water had been swift, but the moment we set foot on the sand, the weight of where we were settled deep in my bones. The air was thick with magic, the scent of blood and power woven into every breath I took.
Rou shifted back to his human form beside me, his muscles tensing as he scanned the surroundings. Without a word, we moved into the beach caves, concealed by the jagged rocks that lined the shore. The distant sound of footsteps made me freeze. Rou lifted a hand, silently signaling me to stay still.
A group of coven guards passed by their movements swiftly, their eyes glowing faintly in the dark. My grip on my dagger tightened, but Rou exhaled softly, pressing his hands to the ground. A faint shimmer pulsed around us as he masked our scent, weaving a protective barrier of magic that hid us from their keen senses.
We waited. The tension in the air was thick, but finally, the guards disappeared into the night. Rou turned to me, his voice low but firm. "We need to move now. The longer we stay here, the more likely we’ll be found."
I nodded, stepping forward, but before I could take another step, he continued, "You need to scent and connect with your mate. Let him know we’re here."
I hesitated. The thought of reaching out to Frery was like standing at the edge of a storm, uncertain whether I would be welcomed or struck down by the lightning within. But I had no choice.
Closing my eyes, I pushed my power into the mind-bonded link between us, searching for him, calling to him. The connection sparked, but instead of warmth, a surge of rage slammed into me. Fury. Unfiltered and wild. My breath hitched as I felt Kayne’s emotions surge through the bond, anger, betrayal, a storm waiting to consume everything in its path.
Rou must have noticed the shift in my demeanor because he grabbed my arm, his eyes sharp. "What’s wrong?"
I could only shake my head, struggling to find the right words, "We need another way to get to Kayne. He’s not in the right state to sense me properly."
Rou narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean?"
I exhaled and deflected. "He told me once that his mother resides in Kayne land. If we can’t reach him directly, we need to find a way to get to her."
Rou crossed his arms, considering. Then a smirk pulled at his lips, sharp and knowing. "Then we kidnap a guard and make him take us there." I met his gaze, the weight of our next move settling in. It was risky but at this point, it was our best option.
"Let’s do it," I said, and we melted into the shadows and hid in waiting.
