Bloodline Reckoning: The System Made Me Filthy Rich -
Chapter 47: Suggested Option: Kill!
Chapter 47: Suggested Option: Kill!
After a long two-hour drive, they finally arrived!
Noah, who had been sleeping, gradually woke up when he felt the car come to a stop.
As Noah glanced around, he noticed nothing but darkness. It felt like they were embraced by tall, majestic trees all around them.
The car stopped right in front of the only building, with a soft glow lighting up its entrance.
"We have arrived, sir!" Matthew switched off the car engine and exited the vehicle.
Noah hurried after Matthew and stepped into a house-like building.
He was surprised to learn that the two-story house was camouflaged. They were heading directly to the elevator hidden at the back.
Matthew’s voice distracts Noah as they wait for the elevator. "This is one of our base camps in Opal City."
"But I didn’t see anyone guarding this area? And there’s no car park in the yard?" Noah asked, confused.
Matthew paused before responding, allowing Noah to enter the elevator first.
"Are all operations conducted underground?" Noah asked, interrupting Matthew before he could respond. He was surprised to feel the elevator smoothly descending.
"Yes. This is the safest place to keep Jack Donovan! No one can locate him here, sir. You can do whatever you want with him without worrying about someone suddenly showing up or hearing his scream."
Matthew grinned excitedly as if he understood the worries that were on his mind.
"Hmmm. Yeah, this place works. Thanks, Matthew!" Noah replied briefly, and the murderous intent in his gaze grew clearer.
After a brief moment, the elevator came to a halt, and as the doors slid open, he saw a brightly lit room adorned with pristine white walls. The room resembles a lobby.
Noah noticed a few guards in black tactical suits at several locations. The guards all briefly nodded toward them before returning to their duties.
He followed Matthew down a long hallway with black doors on either side. After the last door, Matthew finally stopped and turned to see him.
"Are you ready, sir?" Matthew asked, his hand poised to open the door.
Noah nodded calmly, even though he could feel a storm raging in his heart. His anger at Jack Donovan, who killed his mother, began to engulf him once more.
The lamps flickered as the door swung open, barely illuminating the damp, windowless room before him.
He was taken aback to find a man curled up on the floor. Although he couldn’t see the man’s face, he recognized him by his ginger hair—it was Jack.
"Is he still alive? Why hasn’t he moved, even after the light turned on?" Noah whispered as he approached Jack’s motionless body.
Matthew paused and let Noah walk ahead. "I guess he is asleep."
"He hasn’t slept since we detained him. And no, we didn’t sleep-deprived or tortured him in any way. He just didn’t want to sleep," a man’s voice came from the doorway, prompting Noah and Matthew to glance towards it. "But then, a few hours ago, he started to sleep."
"I see!"
Noah nods slightly at the man and continues walking toward Jack. He lightly kicks Jack’s feet to wake him, but Jack remains silent.
’This bastard! How dare he sleep soundly like this after killing my mother?’ Noah cursed in anger.
He kicked his hips hard, pushing Jack’s body forward. A startled scream filled the room in a flash, mingling with Jack’s angry curses.
"Arggghhh! What the fuck!! Who the hell kicked me...?" Jack woke up in shock; his voice was hoarse and barely audible after too much screaming had left his vocal cords frayed like a buffering video struggling to keep up.
Noah was speechless to hear that Jack still felt confident expressing anger after everything that had happened to him.
’Did this foolish Jack not realize his life was in danger now? Or was he simply too stupid to understand that?’ Noah laughed inwardly at his own thoughts.
"It seems you still don’t understand why you’re here, Jack!" Noah said calmly, smiling at Jack, who now looked at him with his jaw nearly dropping to the floor.
"WHAT THE FUCK, NOAH! You’re the one who kidnapped me?" Jack’s voice quivered with rage. "How could you do this to me, Noah? I swear I will—" His words faded as Noah’s hand struck his cheek, burning like hot iron.
Smack!
"Jack, you shouldn’t ask me questions like that. You should know why you’re here!"
Noah’s chilling voice abruptly stunned Jack. He had been touching his bleeding lips, ready to unleash a torrent of curses at Noah, but now he could only glare at him in frustration while struggling to rise to his feet.
However, before Jack could rise, Noah’s powerful kick struck his shoulder, sending him flying backward, and a scream of pain echoed through the room as his body hit the floor.
Cough!
A mouthful of fresh blood came out of Jack’s mouth.
Jack flinched, feeling the pain of his dislocated shoulder sending shivers through him. He was overwhelmed by agony. His eyes trembled as he fought back tears and frustration while staring at Noah.
Looking, Jack cried in pain before him, and a satisfied smile appeared on Noah’s lips when he was about to say something, a revenge ledger notification appeared in his line of sight.
This is what he was waiting for!
...
[Revenge Ledger Updated.]
[Target: Jack Donovan]
[Status: Active]
[Suggested Option: Kill | Forgive]
[Bonus: $1,000,000 | 1 Unknown Skill Unlock]
[Would you like to start your revenge? (Y/N)]
...
Noah was stunned to see the bonus, not the money the system offered him, but the suggested option and the [Unknown unlock skill].
’Unknown skill? What the hell is that? And why are there only two options in the system? To Kill or to Forgive?’ He wondered, puzzled.
He finds it impossible to forgive Jack, leaving him with only one option: to kill him!
’Did the system know what I truly wanted?’ He wondered, feeling his blood slowly run cold. He worried that this system could access his mind, too.
Noah lightly shook his head, attempting to set his suspicions aside. He promptly selected the option [Kill].
