Blood Holy Scripture: True Ancestor Charlotte de Castel

Chapter 500: -27- The smile froze instantly

Charlotte was genuinely curious about this question.

Among her own kind, the thorny rose was just a symbol she hastily copied while hanging on the cross, originally a floral pattern on furniture, and it was not the Holy Emblem of the Blood True Ancestor at all.

Since her crossing over, Charlotte had also investigated what the Holy Emblem of the Blood True Ancestor had been in the past, but she never yielded any results; it seemed that the Bloodline had deliberately erased it.

After Albrecht entered the Dark Night Ancient Castle, he didn’t immediately associate the thorny rose with the "Blood True Ancestor" but instead considered her to be the "Dark Night God."

So... how did he come to regard the thorny rose as the symbol of the "Blood True Ancestor"?

Upon hearing Charlotte’s question, a flicker of unease surfaced on Albrecht’s face.

Charlotte heard many thoughts such as "Why is the True Ancestor asking this?" "Did I respond incorrectly somewhere?" "Will She be angry and consume me?" echoing in his heart.

"True... True Ancestor Your Majesty, please forgive my sins. I’ve slept for too long, and my memories are somewhat blurry. I failed to recognize Your Holy Emblem at first, which led to many mistakes..."

"To see You once again truly excites and delights me; to have the opportunity to pledge my loyalty to You once more is the greatest honor of my life!"

"Praise You, great True Ancestor Your Majesty. With Your return, the Bloodline can finally unite once again!"

Albrecht praised with fervor and devotion.

Charlotte: ...

Lies.

All lies.

Charlotte looked expressionlessly at this Bloodline Duke of demon heritage as he brazenly lied to her face, her heart unmoved, even feeling a bit like laughing.

Besides truly forgetting what the Holy Emblem of the Blood True Ancestor looked like, everything else coming out of Albrecht’s passionate praise was false.

The genuine thought in his heart could be summed up in one sentence, "A Hell Horned Demon can bow and scrape to save its own life; prioritize survival above all."

But...

Forget the Holy Emblem of the Blood True Ancestor?

Charlotte looked down upon Albrecht, lost in thought.

Mortals might forget, but the memory of Transcendents is incredibly strong.

Not to mention Albrecht was a Legendary Blood Duke, a Horned Demon from Hell—how could such a powerful being forget something for no reason?

Especially something as significant to the Bloodline as the Holy Emblem of the Blood True Ancestor!

Yet, peculiarly, the only truth from Albrecht was that he indeed had forgotten.

It wasn’t until he recognized the Dark Night Ancient Castle that his memory began to resurface. But in his memory, the Holy Emblem of the Blood True Ancestor seemed to have always been the thorny rose.

Could this be... memory alteration?

A thought struck Charlotte.

The thorny rose being used as the Holy Emblem was certified by the Blood Holy Scripture, and it was Charlotte’s personal choice.

Could it be that the Blood Holy Scripture had the power to change the recognition of other beings, forcibly binding the thorny rose to the identity of the Blood True Ancestor?

Charlotte’s expression turned inscrutable as she speculated.

But at the same time, she had another question.

Speaking of which, shouldn’t the Blood True Ancestor be Lilith?

Seeing Charlotte on the throne fall silent, Albrecht grew even more nervous:

"True... True Ancestor Your Majesty, do you... do you have any other questions?"

Charlotte gathered her thoughts and looked at him.

Observing the Dark Apostle who seemed quite restrained and uneasy, she let out a light chuckle and said:

"Albrecht, you appear... to be quite afraid of me?"

A servile smile immediately plastered over Albrecht’s face:

"You jest, your greatness. You are the great and omnipotent Ancestor—before You, I must naturally maintain reverence and awe!"

Charlotte neither affirmed nor denied, but with an ironically testing tone, she lightly waved her hand, dispersing the crimson mist before the throne.

With the mist that blocked the view gone, Albrecht saw her appearance clearly.

Charlotte retained her adult form.

Albrecht’s expression drifted into a daze as ancient memories became clearer, the figure from his recollections completely merging with the one before him.

The True Ancestor!

She really was the returned True Ancestor!

Albrecht dared not look any longer, quickly lowering his head, his heart quaking.

It seemed that perhaps the memories had indeed been altered...

Sensing Albrecht’s thoughts and feelings, Charlotte affirmed her suspicions further.

She withdrew her gaze nonchalantly, looking condescendingly at him, her voice as languid as ever:

"Albrecht, loyalty is not just a matter of words. Do you think... I should believe in your loyalty?"

Albrecht hastily bowed, his expression one of sincere zeal:

"Ancestor Your Majesty, Albrecht’s reverence for You comes from the heart! Everything about Albrecht is within Your control, and at a single thought from You, Albrecht could perish. What reason or courage would Albrecht have to deceive You?"

Charlotte remained non-committal and teased with an almost mocking smile:

"Oh? Is that so? As a Descendant of Yabaton, did you swear the same to Him?"

"What are you implying? Yabaton is Yabaton, and You are You. You are the supreme leader of all Bloodline, while he is but a Flame Demon who was granted power by You, a filthy traitor. He cannot compare to You! Albrecht has never truly pledged allegiance to Yabaton; Albrecht merely sought his protection reluctantly due to my demonic nature. I have always been waiting for Your return!"
