Chapter 493: -23- Legendary level combat

"Possession" state lifted, and Charlotte’s consciousness returned to the real world.

All summoning spells require targeted incantations, even vague summonings, and "Demon Contract" was no exception.

In the memories accessed by Charlotte and Bertrand’s diary, the most significant description of Albrecht, the Dark Apostle of the Blood Demon Church, was that, compared to a Bloodline, his appearance was more like that of a Demon.

The appearance of a Bloodline often relates to their race before their First Embrace.

Given the close relationship between the Blood Demon Duke and Demons, even if Albrecht wasn’t a Demon himself, the concentration of Demon blood within him was likely quite high.

This gave Charlotte a bold idea.

That was to use the "Demon Contract" and the Blood Servant Mark to track back to the incantation that represented the Dark Apostle Albrecht, to then endow the incantation upon a Summoning Array, while using the remnant Blazing Sun Level Transcendent power in Bertrand’s body as a conduit, to ultimately force summon Albrecht...

This thought was insane and risky but had a considerable chance of success.

Albrecht didn’t live in a different space like other Demons; he was hidden within the Royal Capital, which greatly reduced the difficulty of the summoning.

Even if he had concealed his identity and aura, the summoning array would expose everything.

The forced summoning of a Legendary Bloodline would certainly cause a commotion.

Especially in the Inner City, not far from the Church, the Holy Royal Court would be hard pressed not to notice.

Although it was a spur-of-the-moment idea for Charlotte, and not guaranteed to be 100% successful, the incantation representative of Albrecht tracked back from the "Demon Contract" and Blood Servant Mark was absolutely authentic.

It was like a fusion of "Demon Contract" and Demon Summoning Array, that without exposing Charlotte herself, weakened her connection with the summoning target and forcefully summoned the other party.

An incantation for summoning a Legendary, coupled with an Earl-level Bloodline’s power surge, no matter success or failure, was bound to cause an uproar.

Of course, failure didn’t matter either.

Even if the summoning failed, such a great Magic Power fluctuation and Shedite Bloodline strength would certainly draw the Holy Royal Court’s attention and prompt a swift response.

Charlotte had left the roster and the diary there, so even without a successful summoning, the base of the Blood Demon Church could be exposed.

As for whether the roster and the diary would be damaged by the aftermath of Albrecht’s power...

That was left to luck.

If Albrecht were indeed summoned, whether the roster existed would not matter.

She could always file another report afterward; she had memorized everything on the roster by utilizing the "Strong Memory" Bloodline Magic.

The reason machinations are called conspiracies is because the schemers lack the confidence to confront their opponents head-on.

Although the Church had planted an undercover agent within the Blood Demon Church, they clearly were still unaware of the Blood Demon Church’s plans and didn’t know that a Dark Apostle was hiding in Lutecia.

If Charlotte were to expose this Dark Apostle, the Church would certainly not let him go.

And if the summoning wasn’t successful, based on Charlotte’s assessment of that secret room, the roster and diary wouldn’t be destroyed by the summoning’s power fluctuation.

Charlotte stood by the window, her gaze naturally drifting towards a certain direction in the Inner City.

That was where the Lutecia Cathedral was located, and in that direction were also the Royal Square, the Council Hall, and Bertrand’s estate...

The night had fallen, and the sky was growing deeper, but soon, a crimson pillar of light cut through the darkness and pierced the sky.

The dim Sky Curtain was instantly illuminated, a strong and vast oppression slowly rising, which, despite the advantage of the Blood Holy Scripture, made Charlotte feel a profound threat.

Clearly, the summoning was successful.

Although she was only of Silver Moon level, her hand of cards was not to be considered ordinary; facing a Blazing Sun, she would only feel pressure.

Only a Legendary could inspire in her such a strong sense of threat!

Charlotte couldn’t help but curl her lips, looking towards the direction of the light pillar.

The sky there was completely overtaken by crimson, as if ignited by Hellfire.

Because of the distance, Charlotte couldn’t see what the summoned Dark Apostle looked like, but the aura that matched exactly with that remaining in the Blood Servant Mark confirmed the identity.

Moreover, by relying on the incomplete connection left by "Demon Contract," Charlotte could even vaguely sense the other’s emotions...

Anger mixed with astonishment, bewilderment coupled with confusion.

But that confusion was soon replaced by palpable horror.

For no sooner had the Dark Apostle’s presence emerged, than in a few brief moments, three new Legendary presences exploded in the distance.

Golden radiance lit up the Sky Curtain, as if three suns had risen!

Charlotte almost immediately recognized the identities of those three presences.

One holy, one solemn, one fierce.

They were the three Legendary Clergy she had encountered in the Church, the Great Priest Charles of the New Moon Diocese, the Great Judge Bernard, and the Demon Hunting cardinal Joseph.

Then, Charlotte heard a voice cold as ice, seemingly suppressed with boundless fury:

"Holy... Eternal!"

That was the voice of the Great Judge Bernard.

An even more dazzling radiance burst forth, and a golden sun slowly rose, giving Charlotte an all-too-familiar feeling.

It was the Divine Artifact Eternal Day from the Holy Royal Court.

Charlotte almost instantly sensed the panic of the Dark Apostle.

With a roar, she saw the crimson in the sky rapidly spread, Hellfire stretching out, and a tall figure enveloped in deep red flames appearing and vanishing.

The figure did not love battle, but under the radiance of Eternal Day, it ascended rapidly and fled into the distance...

"God said, ’Let there be light.’"

A gentle voice rang out.

It was the voice of Charles, the Great Priest of the New Moon Diocese.

The sacred radiance burst forth, and Charlotte saw the holy light envelop the entirety of Lutecia in an instant, lighting up the entire Royal Capital like broad daylight.

The Divine Technique Counter was activated automatically, and Charlotte also knew what kind of Divine Art Great Priest Charles had cast.

It was the Legendary Divine Art "Holy Sky Curtain."

The Holy Light enveloped everything, like an immense cage, wrapping Lutecia within it, confining even the fleeing crimson figure...

The crimson figure let out an enraged roar, attempting to break through the canopy, but soon, a golden figure rapidly caught up:

"Blood Demon! Meet your demise!"

It was Joseph, the Demon Hunting cardinal.

Charlotte saw the golden radiance rapidly chase the crimson figure, with gold and red intertwining in the night sky above Lutecia, battling fiercely.

The battle took place between the sky and light, not distinctly visible, only displaying a doomsday-like brilliance in the heavens.

Battles between Legends were incredibly rare, not to mention several Legends brawling together.

Charlotte was extremely curious, as if countless cat paws were scratching at her heart, itching to immediately grab a telescope, to watch the battle while eating popcorn.

But she knew that as the instigator, she had to keep a low profile.

Although she replaced part of the Demon Contract with the summoning array, she ultimately employed the power of the Blood Holy Scripture and inconspicuously established a faint connection with the summoned unfortunate soul.

This connection could not control the other party at all, only roughly making out the other’s state and position. If she became too conspicuous now, the Dark Apostle would soon sense something.

After all, Legends are Legends, with powerful perception. It was better to be low-profile at such times.

The battle in the sky continued.

Although she couldn’t make out the specifics, Charlotte could still roughly judge, based on the changes in aura, that the Dark Apostle being summoned was being thoroughly beaten by the three Legendary Clergy.

Perhaps because it had been used on Charlotte not long ago, Divine Artifact Eternal Day did not pull the Dark Apostle into an Illusion Realm; judging from the continued resistance, however, under the shine of the Divine Artifact, Charlotte could vaguely sense the Apostle’s power rapidly weakening.

Anxiety, fear, wariness, hatred...

A variety of emotions spread through the connection, enough to suggest the dire situation of the Dark Apostle.

No way around it; after all, it was three against one.

If the three Legendary Clergy had not needed to divide their attention to protect the city below, Charlotte even suspected that the unlucky soul she had summoned would have been subdued already.

But even so, the crimson within the canopy was getting weaker while the aura of the holy light was growing stronger.

Clearly, the lone Dark Apostle was no match for the three Clergy.

The emotion of urgency grew stronger, and so did hatred and anger.

Through the connection, Charlotte felt a trace of vicious and frenzied sentiment...

In an instant, the originally weakening crimson suddenly burst forth with light again, a heart-palpitating evil power spreading rapidly and swiftly expanding.

Charlotte’s heart skipped a beat.

She looked up, only to see a world-ending terrifying aura explode centered around the crimson radiance, raining down from the heavens.

The Dark Apostle was fighting desperately, clearly casting some terrible Magic.

But, the Magic was not directed at the three Clergy, it was aimed at the Royal Capital Lutecia below!

"How dare you!"

The three Legendary Clergy bellowed out in anger, the holy light likewise erupted, quickly enshrouding all of Lutecia.

The two forces collided, making the entire earth tremble slightly.

At the same time, the crimson giant conveyed an emotion of wild joy...

Charlotte focused her gaze to see the crimson figure seizing the moment while the three Clergy protected the city below, enduring their attacks, and with an outburst of power, attempted a rapid escape.

However, just as the crimson figure was about to break free, a cold snort came from the depths of the Inner City.

A piercing aura soared into the sky, and Charlotte saw a silver sword light fly from the direction of the Royal Palace, heading straight for the fleeing crimson figure.

The sword light reached in an instant, and Charlotte heard a grunt from the sky, then the crimson radiance was split in two.
