Chapter 361: -114- Long time no see, Viscount Remisio
"Lord Luf, what’s the matter?"
Noticing the slightly dazed werewolf, Hank the manager curiously asked.
Werewolf Luf quickly came to his senses, bowed slightly to Hank, and said,
"I’m sorry, Mr. Hank, I just remembered there is something I haven’t dealt with back in the tribe and I need to leave for a bit."
Having said this, he didn’t wait for a response, stood up, left the tent, and hurried towards Silver Mining City.
In Silver Mining City, in the old mining district where civilians gathered,
a Sub-human community of considerable size had already formed over the past year, with the Blood Wolf Tribe that moved north and the Sub-human miners of the Castel mines at its core.
On the old streets, where Sub-human residents could be seen everywhere, they all stopped and paid their respects upon seeing Luf hurrying into the neighborhood, extending their right hands to their chests, sketching the symbol of a rose.
Werewolf Luf did not linger.
He nodded to the Sub-humans as he walked deeper into the old mining district, navigating through the streets, rounding corners, turning seven times and eight times, until he finally stopped in front of an old church that had long been abandoned.
There were werewolves standing guard in front of the church too.
Upon seeing Luf, they bowed slightly, paying their respects:
"Lord Luf."
Luf nodded at them and walked straight into the church.
Unlike the ruin outside, the inside of the church was well-maintained, with black-cloaked believers standing in the hall, silently praying to the Divine Statue in the center.
The divine figure enshrined at the front of the hall was not a statue of the Divine Lord Haral, but of a goddess with an indistinct face.
The goddess sat on a throne surrounded by thorns and roses; one hand supporting her chin, and the other flipping through a heavy tome, her gaze seeming to look off into the distance.
"Lord Luf..."
Seeing Luf enter the church, a werewolf who was clearly the leader among the black-robed believers approached him.
Luf nodded slightly and asked,
"How’s it going? Is there any news today?"
"No, the True Ancestor has still not issued an oracle today,"
the werewolf shook his head and replied.
Luf seemed thoughtful.
"Let me take a look,"
he said, following a faint intuition in his heart.
The werewolves cleared the way, and Luf approached the Divine Statue.
Taking a deep breath, he respectfully saluted the statue, then raised his right hand, sketching out the symbol of a rose on his chest, praising as devoutly as always:
"Most high and supreme True Ancestor..."
"Embodiment of darkness and shadow..."
"Origin of all Bloodline."
"Your humble and devout descendant seeks guidance here..."
"..."
Before he finished speaking, a crimson glow spread over the Divine Statue.
Seeing this, the believers were all taken aback, and then suddenly ecstatic:
"Divine light! It is our lord’s divine light!"
"The True Ancestor has finally responded! There will be an oracle issued!"
Seeing the crimson glow, Luf too was certain in his heart, and his face showed joy.
He finally confirmed that the call from beyond was indeed the guidance of the True Ancestor.
After several months of slumber, the True Ancestor... had awakened once again!
"Great Blood True Ancestor, your faithful believer Luf listens here for your oracle!"
Luf kneeled on one knee, his voice solemn.
The diffuse glow spread from the statue, falling upon Luf.
In a trance, the believers in the hall seemed to hear a faint woman’s voice whispering softly, ethereal and mysterious.
Luf was slightly stunned, then quickly pricked up his ears to listen, his expression becoming even more respectful.
Moments later, the crimson glow dissipated, and the Divine Statue returned to calm.
In Luf’s hand, a glistening, translucent crystal ball had appeared.
As he looked at the crystal ball in his hand, Luf pondered thoughtfully. He slowly stood up and once again saluted the Divine Statue with reverence,
"Luf... will diligently follow Your Oracle!"
The devout, envious, and longing gazes of the believers fell upon him. The lead werewolf stepped forward, curiously asking,
"Lord Luf, what has the True Ancestor commanded this time?"
Luf’s gaze flickered slightly,
"The True Ancestor has decreed that we secretly gather intelligence on the Northern Land rebels and continue to remain hidden, without revealing our faith."
"Gathering intelligence on the Northern Land rebels?"
The werewolf believer was momentarily stunned, then mused,
"I heard that the Legris Family Head is also related to the Bloodline; could it be... the rebels are also followers of our Lord?"
Luf shook his head,
"No, our Lord is our Lord, and the Bloodline is the Bloodline. They took a different path from us during the internal Bloodline conflict."
"The Oracle of our Lord naturally has His intentions. Execute it as ordered, and... prepare me suitable attire, as I shall visit Viscount Remisio at the Kingdom army’s station."
...
East mining district of the Castel silver mine.
As the location of the New Moon Royal Family’s mining shares, it was also a military station for the Kingdom’s army.
At the edge of the mining district stood a fortress over thirty meters tall.
This was a fortress castle constructed by the Kingdom’s military, specifically to defend the Castel Secret Silver Mine, and it was also where fifteen hundred professional soldiers of the Kingdom were billeted.
Inside the castle, in the office of the commander,
Viscount Remisio, clad in the uniform of a Kingdom officer, was seated at his desk attending to his official duties.
Suddenly, a personal soldier approached the door and saluted him respectfully,
"Report—! Viscount, there is a werewolf outside the fortress who claims to be a Castel Envoy and seeks an audience!"
Viscount Remisio put down his quill; his normally fierce face softened slightly with curiosity,
"A werewolf? An envoy from Castel?"
After a brief pause, he waved his hand,
"Bring him in."
Moments later, led by fully-armed personal soldiers, the werewolf, Luf, who had changed out of his miner’s clothes and into the livery of the Castel family attendants, arrived in the office.
He gave a slight bow to Viscount Remisio and said in a deep voice,
"Castel Envoy, Luf Bloodwolf, at your service, Lord Viscount Remisio."
Viscount Remisio squinted slightly as he sized up Luf, then said with a smile,
"I have seen you before; you are the werewolf who once followed Lord Charlotte."
"You say you are an envoy from Castel, do you have a token?"
Luf nodded and then took out the crystal ball that had been blessed in the manner of Divine Grace Blessing within the Oracle, presenting it respectfully.
Seeing the crystal-clear crystal ball, Viscount Remisio’s gaze shifted subtly. He nodded to the personal soldier, who took the crystal ball and presented it to him.
Studying the crystal ball with its faintly visible magic inscriptions, Viscount Remisio’s face showed surprise,
"Is this... the Communication Crystal popular among the Great Nobles of the Falling Star Kingdom?"
No sooner had he finished speaking than the crystal ball burst into a gentle glow. The magic inscriptions upon it lit up one by one, and a semi-transparent projection began to spread outward from the center of the crystal ball.
In the astonished gaze of Viscount Remisio, a beautiful lady’s image clad in noble attire appeared within the projection.
Watching the beautiful image, Viscount Remisio gradually recovered from his surprise.
With a chuckle, he spoke,
"Lately there has been talk in the Northern Land that the young Earl of Castel has come under the control of the Legris Family, but... I never believed it."
"Seeing this, it appears those were indeed just rumors!"
"It’s been some time, Lord Charlotte. I never imagined you would contact me in this way. I have heard that in the Falling Star Kingdom, Communication Crystals are closely guarded, and to obtain one in the New Moon black market would cost a fortune..."
Hearing Viscount Remisio’s words, the projected Charlotte also gave a slight smile,
"It’s just a few trade secrets often employed with the merchants of Falling Star; a Communication Crystal is not as costly as you imagine."
As she finished, the girl in the projection pinched the corner of her gown and gave a small curtsy,
"It’s been a long time, Viscount Remisio..."
