Chapter 299: -60- chaos caused by the thorny rose
"Oh? An Evil God?"
Count Yulster’s gaze shifted slightly as he looked toward the Bloodline member who had just spoken.
The other crimson eyes in the assembly simultaneously turned towards this member of the Bloodline.
"Is it Viscount Scott? If I’m not mistaken, wasn’t your task to form a Mercenary Corps in the Eastern Yonette Black Land?"
Count Yulster asked curiously.
The Bloodline member nodded slightly:
"Yes, Lord Count, that’s why I mentioned that this is just a rumor I’ve heard..."
Speaking thus, the Blood Viscount named Scott’s gaze grew distant as if he was lost in memories:
"The rumor is that a year ago, Bold had suffered a Divine Descent plot by the Blood Demon Sect, which was ultimately thwarted by the Holy Royal Court."
"This Divine Descent plot had entangled quite a few clans of the Bold Duchy, including the Castel family. Moreover, it was said that Castel’s heir nearly lost her life because of it!"
The Divine Descent plot by the Blood Demon Church?!
Blood Demon Duke Yabaton?
Hearing Viscount Scott’s words, the corner of every Bloodline member’s eye twitched, and they all grew serious.
Although Blood Demon Duke Yabaton was a Blood Prince just like the Stargazer Cosy, their relationship could not be described as friendly, and their philosophies were entirely different.
And just as the Observation Clan Nais and the Dark Clan Shedite were, relations were akin to a Falling Star and a New Moon—although not archenemies, they were entangled in unresolved grudges, barely able to stand one another.
"Viscount Scott, I too have heard of this matter. It’s said that the Holy Royal Court had even sent out three Blazing Suns to investigate, but... as far as I’m aware, the Blood Demon Sect’s Divine Descent plot had already failed."
A Bloodline member spoke with a somber voice.
Viscount Scott shook his head:
"Lord Rune, what you may not know is that the Divine Descent in Bold a year ago was not as simple as it appeared. In fact, besides the failed Shedite Clan, there was also a mysterious deity!"
"Even when the Blood Demon Sect’s Divine Descent plot was foiled, it wasn’t the Holy Royal Court that acted, but this mysterious deity emerged, severely injuring the unsealed Flame Demon Vararoka and destroyed the Blood Demon Sect’s plan to bring the Blood Demon Duke into our world!"
A member of the Nais Bloodline named Rune appeared to understand, his gaze growing serious:
"So that was the case..."
"Still, what does this have to do with Count Castel?"
He asked with renewed curiosity.
"This brings us to the role played by the Castel family in this affair. It’s said that the first appearance of this mysterious deity was on the lands of the Castel family estate!"
"The former head of the Castel family was deceived by Blood Demon Cultists, intending to sacrifice Charlotte de Castel to the Blood Demon Duke. Yet, in the end, it was not Charlotte who was sacrificed but the acting head of the Castel family!"
"After the incident, the Demon Hunting Knights of the Holy Royal Court discovered unfamiliar symbols at the scene, pointing to a mysterious deity—and it’s highly likely that this deity comes from Coria!"
Viscount Scott said with a solemn tone.
Count Nottingham’s heart stirred:
"Do you mean that the young Earl Castel was saved by a resurrected deity?"
"Exactly."
Viscount Scott nodded.
Count Nottingham frowned slightly:
"Deities do not rescue mortals without reason; anyone a deity aids must be one of their Divine Favored..."
"However, as I am aware, Charlotte de Castel is highly valued by the Holy Royal Court—though she may not be a true Saintess, Divine Favored light appeared during her coming-of-age ceremony."
"She... is a devout Holy believer!"
"Are you suggesting that the deity that descended is one of the Holy Royal Court’s Demigods? But didn’t you just say it was an Evil God?"
Viscount Scott said gravely:
"That’s the part of the rumor puzzling me. As I understand, the Holy Royal Court indeed regards this resurrected deity as an unfamiliar Evil God, otherwise, they would not have dispatched three Blazing Suns for investigation."
"Not only that, but last year the Holy Royal Court even sent a team to Coria to further investigate this mysterious deity."
Count Nottingham’s gaze flickered lightly:
"Coria... This is the second time you’ve mentioned Coria, but the Kingdom of Coria has always been the domain of Vadret and Salem. Even the Holy Royal Court only holds nominal rule there."
"Do you mean to say this mysterious deity could be one of the ancient Blood Princes?"
Viscount Scott let out a sigh:
"I... do not know."
"But this mysterious deity’s symbol—I believe everyone present here is familiar with it, and many may even find one or two in their own homes..."
Saying this, the elusive shadow that was Viscount Scott raised his hand gently, and a phantom symbol started to trace itself faintly on the table.
It was a pattern composed of Thorns and Roses, its elegant lines carrying an air of mystery.
Upon seeing the pattern, nearly all the Bloodline members present were taken aback.
"Thorns and Roses? Damn it! Isn’t this Coria’s most beautiful decorative pattern? The coffins I sleep in are carved with this!"
One of the Bloodline members couldn’t help but exclaim.
"Really? Scott, stop messing around! All the furniture in my house is from Coria! They’re all of this design!"
Another Bloodline member was also incredulous.
Even Count Yulster, who was leading the meeting, could not help but twitch at the corner of his eye.
