Chapter 246: -35- Scare her!
"A ’Blood Count’ named Hall? But from what I know, among those of the Bloodline secluded in and around Castel, there seems to be no one of the Rank of Earl," Sebastian said, frowning thoughtfully.
After a moment, he added,
"Of course, my knowledge of the Bloodline is limited, the few I know of are quite prominent in the Transcendent Realm, especially the Mercenary Realm. The Bloodline usually keeps a low profile, many have been asleep for years, and it’s possible they have been forgotten while sleeping... You know, some Bloodline woke up to find their castles dismantled. Hmm, perhaps he’s a Bloodline that I am not aware of, especially those old ones waking from a long slumber."
"Master, I remember Miss Anna once provided you with information about the Bloodline, did it mention anything relevant?"
Charlotte shook her head slightly,
"Most of the information from Miss Anna concerns the Nais clan Bloodline, and about the New Moon Kingdom, it mainly focuses on the Shedite Clan. These Dark families are quite active in the inner lands of the New Moon Kingdom, especially around the Royal Capital, but this is in the northern part of the New Moon Kingdom."
"However, she did mention a few Bloodline residing in the Romany Duchy, but none named Earl Hall."
"Shall we ask the Book of the Dead Spirit again? It should know something about its master."
Sebastian inquired.
Charlotte’s expression darkened,
"I’ve already asked, that useless Book Spirit only knew that the previous owner was named Hall and that he was a fourth-generation Bloodline; beyond that, it knew nothing."
"Maybe it really is related to what you mentioned—a fourth-generation Bloodline is indeed quite ancient, perhaps he really was some old fellow who slept for who knows how long."
"However... It doesn’t matter anymore who Earl Hall really was. If the information provided by the Book of the Dead Spirit is reliable, he should have been killed by that Bloodline named Agnes."
"The current ’Earl Hall’, is a Knight named Rahael impersonating him," Charlotte said, her expression turning somewhat strange.
"From this perspective, perhaps the Nais clan’s plan has been messed up for a long time; just wondering if they know it themselves."
Hearing Charlotte’s words, Sebastian also looked peculiar:
"That would be interesting. If it’s really so, as long as the Book of the Dead Spirit is with you, we just wait for them to come to us."
Charlotte nodded slightly.
She thought so too.
"But..."
Charlotte then switched tones:
"Waiting passively for them to come is too reactive. Since it’s confirmed that the Nais clan is behind this, perhaps before the banquet, we could also visit some of the Bloodline in Castel, they might know something,"
"The Bloodline have a deep sense of territoriality, to me, the Nais clan are invaders, and to them... aren’t they too?"
A thought struck Sebastian, and he was immediately eager:
"Are you finally planning to visit the Bloodline nearby? Whom do you want to visit first?"
Charlotte thought for a moment:
"Who is the nearest Bloodline you know of?"
Sebastian respectfully replied:
"That would be Viscount Laval, the Honorary Chairman of the Northern Land Mercenary Association. He has a wide circle of friends in the Mercenary Realm, and I visited him once in the Castel Domain ten years ago."
"Of course, he’s a Viscount, but he’s not a Noble of the New Moon Kingdom, rather he’s a Blood Viscount by the Position within the Bloodline."
"Also, though he is of the Bloodline, he acts quite honorably and almost never drinks the blood of intelligent creatures, quite the adherent of the Oathbound Faction."
"Viscount Laval?"
Charlotte’s interest was piqued:
"That Laval of the Vadret Clan?"
Sebastian seemed surprised:
"You know of him too?"
"Miss Anna’s information mentioned it," Charlotte said.
"But... are you sure it’s fine? That is a Bloodline of the Wildness Clan, I remember you seemed to have some conflict with the Vadret Clan."
She glanced at Sebastian.
Sebastian’s expression turned slightly uncomfortable:
"It’s fine, Viscount Laval is part of the Oathbound Faction; and the Oathbound Faction Bloodline members are also exiles of Vadret, otherwise, I wouldn’t have visited ten years ago."
Charlotte was intrigued:
"Viscount Laval... he’s also staying in North Port, right?"
"Certainly, he is the Honorary Chairman for the Mercenary Association’s Northern branch, and that branch is located in North Port."
"Do you know the exact address?"
"Hmm, if I’m not mistaken, he has always been at the branch."
"Ah, so far yet so near! If that’s the case, then it’s much more convenient. Best not delay... Let’s visit the Mercenary Association’s branch tonight," Charlotte said with a smile.
...
"Miss, they have been calling us more frequently to the virtual meetings recently, I’m really worried we might slip up sometime, I even feel they’ve started to suspect us..."
"And with the recollection of Mithril and trying to control the Castel Domain, they are definitely brewing some shocking conspiracy."
The middle-aged Knight Rahael said anxiously.
"What are you worried about? Let them scheme their schemes, it’s none of our business, when the sky falls there will be tall people holding it up, and even if there is a headache, it’s the little Earl of Castel who will suffer headaches!"
