Chapter 233: -30- Take him down!_2
Even two officers couldn’t help but stand more erect.
Seeing this scene, the senior steward’s expression darkened further.
His eyes flickered, and he suddenly whispered to Maier, the Steward beside him:
"Go, invite Lord Remisio..."
Then, he lifted his head and continued to shout at the surrounded Charlotte:
"You... don’t move! Until we verify your true identities, you must not move! Otherwise... we will shoot crossbow arrows!"
Sebastian’s gaze swept over the several heavy crossbows, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes.
He turned around and smiled at Charlotte:
"Master, it seems he is going to seek help again, even threatening to shoot arrows!"
"Let him seek help."
Charlotte didn’t care at all and said lightly:
"Just as well, it might help resolve the secret silver mine matter completely."
After speaking, she gave Sebastian a glance. He immediately understood, snapped his fingers and summoned a noble chair from his storage space, placing it respectfully and elegantly behind Charlotte.
After Charlotte naturally sat down, he respectfully summoned milk and a stemmed glass.
Luckily, before he acted, Charlotte said, "We won’t need that," which avoided an awkward scene of drinking milk from a stemmed glass right there.
Privately, it didn’t matter when fewer people were around.
Now, with so many onlookers, Charlotte didn’t want to perform such an act publicly, feeling that it was somewhat strange.
Sebastian quickly understood and replaced the milk with tea, and the stemmed glass with a fine porcelain cup from the Far East.
This time, Charlotte naturally accepted it and started to sip lightly.
While sipping her tea, she didn’t forget to chat with the surrounding guard officers:
"Which one of you is Raymond? Which one is Frey? From which family?"
The two officers, evidently flattered, answered respectfully:
"I am Raymond."
"I am Frey."
"Lord, we are not nobles but commoners."
Their manner was nervously respectful, more resembling protectors than a besieging party, which was quite bizarre.
The senior steward’s face looked even more displeased.
Charlotte, however, was slightly surprised and smiled:
"A tier-entering man of common origin? Excellent!"
"After this incident, come to the Count Mansion and be my personal guard."
Hearing Charlotte’s words, the two officers visibly excited.
Being an officer in the mine might procure some benefits, but serving as a personal guard knight under a noble lord presented an opportunity to become true nobles!
They almost reflexively wanted to salute, but after noticing the senior steward’s expression, they quickly caught themselves and stiffened their faces again.
Just then, a disturbance arose among the distant onlookers, with the orderly sound of marching troops faintly audible.
Charlotte’s heart stirred, she handed the porcelain cup to Sebastian and looked toward the source of the noise.
The crowd parted to both sides, allowing a squad of well-equipped soldiers to enter in single file.
All were Transcendents, all clad in enchanted fine steel armor.
This... was a squadron of the Kingdom’s Regular Army!
It was the Kingdom’s army stationed at the Castel silver mine.
The Kingdom’s soldiers arrived at the scene, lining up on both sides.
Following this, a tall knight in full armor, surrounded by a host of other knights, arrived at the scene.
He appeared to be a middle-aged man in his forties, tall and imposing, with a hooked nose and a stern look.
Upon seeing the middle-aged knight, the crowd of onlookers stirred again:
"It’s Viscount Remisio! The leader of the Third Detachment of the First Legion!"
"Is it the leader stationed at the Castel’s silver mine?"
"I heard he’s close friends with Steward Kode and also a Silver Moon Second Tier knight, just a step away from Blazing Sun..."
"Shh... looks like the Count is in trouble."
"Keep it down, it might not really be the Count..."
The miners discussed among themselves, many showing fearful expressions upon seeing the fearsome leader of the kingdom’s military detachment, a figure that commanded respect even in the mines.
"What happened here?"
The middle-aged knight’s gaze swept over the crowd as he asked.
Seeing the middle-aged knight, the senior steward of the mine visibly relaxed.
He quickly approached, paying respects and then angrily said:
"Lord Remisio... someone is impersonating our Count and has brutally murdered Lord Kode!"
With his words, he tearfully pleaded:
"You were friends with Lord Kode and a collaborator of the workshop, please ensure justice for Lord Kode!"
"Oh? Impersonating Count Castel? And killed Kode? Who dares do such a thing?"
The middle-aged knight’s expression instantly turned dangerous.
"It’s them!"
The senior steward pointed to Charlotte and her companions surrounded by guards.
The middle-aged knight’s gaze immediately fell on Charlotte and the others.
Feeling the aura that matched his own, and looking at the well-equipped Kingdom soldiers poised to battle the Silver Moon, Sebastian’s expression quickly turned solemn.
He took a step forward, positioning himself in front of Charlotte.
"An elf?"
Looking at Sebastian, the middle-aged knight appeared somewhat surprised.
But quickly, he shifted his focus back to Charlotte, squinting slightly.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom soldiers raised their weapons, ready to attack.
