Having heard Charlotte’s words, Sebastian smiled faintly and gracefully made a bow:
"Then... Miss Agnes, I am your butler Rahael."
"I am the maid Lisa."
Sherry said coldly and succinctly.
As she spoke, she turned to look at Rena opposite her:
"You are maid... Liya."
Rena looked at Charlotte, and then at Sherry opposite her, cocked her head in confusion, and nodded obediently.
"Hey, Lord Charlotte, then I’ll be your coachman Kaur."
From the front of the carriage, a voice full of eagerness to try spoke up; it was Rand, the only one among Charlotte’s Personal Guard Knights who had reached Starry tier.
Sebastian, Nisi, Sherry, and the Bloodline of Royal Authority Rena who Charlotte had picked up on the road, along with the young knight Rand responsible for driving the carriage, formed the lineup for Charlotte’s trip to the eastern mining district.
Among them, Sebastian and Nisi’s superior abilities made them a must to bring along, and as for Sherry... she simply played the role of maid too well, tempting the increasingly Fallen Charlotte who couldn’t help but want to have her around to do work.
For the round trip, Charlotte estimated it would take at least three days, and along the way, it might be necessary to delve further into disguises and covert operations; considering her own skills in this area were practically useless, and Sebastian being male, it was quite normal to bring a reliable maid along.
As for Rena... ever since Anna’s disappearance left her in low spirits, Charlotte did not feel at ease leaving her alone in the Count Mansion; thus, she simply took her along for a change of scenery.
However, while the intention was to take her out for relaxation, this young lady also had considerable combat skills, having helped the carriage team against the Undead during an attack, herself being a tier-enterer, and even likely possessing a true strength that was not inferior to Charlotte without True Ancestor Liberation.
And indeed, Charlotte’s decision turned out to be quite good, as Rena clearly relaxed quite a bit after coming out, especially when holding Nisi, the colorful cat.
Although Charlotte was quite skeptical that this Black Cat would take the opportunity to take advantage, she was somewhat surprised to find that Nisi was quite well-behaved when interacting with Rena.
Thus, Charlotte turned a blind eye.
As for Rand... it was simply because Charlotte needed a coachman, and his strength was the strongest among the attendants.
The carriage carrying Charlotte and her party soon set off, heading east towards the Castel Domain.
The Castel mining district was located on the eastern border of the Castel Domain, adjacent to the Northern Territory Dukedom.
Unlike most of the Count Territory, which is plains, it is an area of low hills and mountains.
Of course, it’s referred to as the east, but in relation to North Port to the north, it is actually to the southeast.
The distance from the mining district to North Port was not too far, and thanks to the frequent to and fro of merchant caravans, a broad and smooth imperial road had been built, suited for horse running, and a fast carriage ride required only a day’s journey.
Charlotte and her party set out in the morning, and by dusk, they arrived at the main settlement of the mining district—the Silver Mining City.
As the name implies, Silver Mining City is a city that developed from silver mining. Initially just a station for miners, it has long since grown into a mid-sized city with a population of about 70,000.
Protecting the city is a high wall, twelve meters in height, said to be built to defend against invasions from the Northern Territory Duke to the northeast.
Unlike the Renaissance-style and petit-bourgeois North Port, Silver Mining City was more rugged, having a steam-punk feel with various metal workshops visible everywhere, even abandoned mines within the city itself.
Here, the races of the people were surprisingly varied; Charlotte saw not only humans but also Elves, Dwarves, Beastmen, and Sub-humans.
Among them, Elves and Dwarves were mostly craftsmen, with relatively high status; Beastmen and Sub-humans were comparatively low, many were miners, some hired, while others were outright slaves.
"Sha... ah... Miss Agnes, where shall we head next?"
Rand stopped the horses, looking at the bustling streets, and asked respectfully.
Charlotte exchanged a glance with Sebastian:
"Has the message been sent out?"
"It has been sent."
Sebastian replied respectfully.
"The location?"
"Water Fir Inn. Luf said it’s the best inn here and also where most merchant teams and Nobles stay."
Charlotte nodded, then turned to Rand driving the carriage and said:
"To the Water Fir Inn."
...
Rand drove the carriage, asking passersby for directions and making haste until, about ten minutes later, they stopped in front of an inn with a distinctive Elf style.
The group got off the carriage, with Sebastian as the butler standing beside Charlotte; Sherry and Rena, dressed as maids, stood on either side of her, with Rand, as the attendant, standing at the back.
As for Nisi, he had already jumped down from Rena’s arms and, as if competing with Sebastian, also walked at another side of Charlotte.
The interior of the inn was also decorated with a strong natural vibe of Elf style. As Charlotte’s party entered, an Elf attendant soon greeted them with a smile and promptly came up to Charlotte, clearly the master of the group, and asked respectfully:
"Dear guest, would you like lodgings or a meal?"
Charlotte shifted her curious gaze away from the surroundings and signaled Sebastian to respond, who then took a step forward and smiled:
"Lodgings, and reserve a private room."
The Elf attendant couldn’t help but glance at his outstanding appearance and nodded gently.
