Chapter 196: -15- Traitor_2

Charlotte furrowed her brows.

"Master, I don’t know what secret Ms. Anna is hiding, but... there’s one thing I can be certain of, having known her for over a decade, she, like the old me, is a non-believer as well," Sebastian pondered before adding.

"Hey, that must be true. Prophetic Witches can see many things, including the secrets of deities. For them to worship false gods would indeed be difficult," Nisi sneered.

After finishing, he seemed to realize that what he had said was inappropriate. He hurriedly looked towards Charlotte with a guilty expression and stuttered in mitigation:

"Of... Of course! I wasn’t referring to you! Uh... yes, I meant those deceitful beings among the gods!"

Charlotte didn’t pay attention to Nisi’s off-the-rails cat mouth.

She slightly frowned, sensing a feeling of being torn apart emanating from the old woman.

A non-believer then,

but... could she possibly be a Divine Favored of some deity?

Strange, very strange!

Charlotte felt that the old woman who visited her was shrouded in mystery, but unfortunately... everything had been buried with her disappearance.

The only thing that was certain was that, from the hint of aura she detected after using Blood Divine Power, the other party indeed had some connection with the Bloodline.

"Prophets" are always babbling on, either with lives as short as a mayfly’s or as long as a thousand-year-old turtle’s.

For some reason, Charlotte had a premonition.

Maybe in the not so distant future, she might see Ms. Anna again...

As for now, whether the other party was alive or dead, Charlotte could at least feel that the other had no ill intentions.

Thinking it over, she said to Sebastian:

"Sebastian, take good care of that young girl from the Kilari Clan."

Ms. Rena was entrusted to her by the other party.

Regardless of why the other had approached her, perhaps... it all rested with the last of the Bloodline of Royal Authority.

...

This was an eerie and solemn ancient castle hall.

Around the hall, the black stone walls were carved with intricate patterns and ancient bas-reliefs, which depicted the mythological tale of the Stargazer Cosy following the Blood True Ancestor in a war among gods, eventually achieving Divine Enthronement.

And in the center of the hall, a lone black coffin stood, wrapped in black chains that emitted an ancient and time-worn aura.

Around the coffin, four black demon statues with bat wings on their backs stood at the four corners. They held tridents high, appearing as guardians, yet also as sentinels.

Suddenly, the coffin trembled slightly, and the black chains around it seemed to come to life, slowly retracting.

The next moment, the lid of the coffin creaked open, and a gray-black mist spilled out from within it.

The mist soon dissipated, revealing an elderly figure slowly sitting up inside the coffin.

She was an aged old woman.

If Charlotte had been there, she would have noticed that her appearance bore a striking resemblance to the Anna who had visited her. However, unlike the modestly dressed Anna, the old woman was adorned in a lavish and mysterious black nightgown, clashing with her aged visage.

But soon, the old woman’s appearance began an astonishing transformation.

Almost as if reacting chemically with the air from outside the coffin, the wrinkles on her skin started to vanish, her white hair gradually returned to a dark brown, and her once-aging face quickly regained its youth.

She was a beautiful and dignified Bloodline woman.

Her eyes slowly opened, revealing a pair of blood-red pupils.

At the same time, the four demon statues guarding the surroundings swayed in unison, their eye sockets flashing with crimson light.

With creaking sounds, they twisted their bodies, which seemed to have not moved in decades, and bowed slightly towards the woman in the coffin:

"Lord Eugenia..."

The Bloodline woman named Eugenia gave a cold glance to the demon statues around her and asked:

"How long have I slept?"

"Lord Eugenia, you have been in slumber for seventy-three years."

The Demon statue answered with respect.

"Seventy-three years, lost for almost five years..."

Lord Eugenia frowned.

She rubbed her temples, let out a soft sigh, her expression filled with worry,

"The time prophesied for the Holy Presence Day is drawing near..."

As she spoke, she stood up from the coffin, snapped her fingers lightly, and her black nightgown transformed instantly into an elegant and mysterious formal dress.

Stepping out of the coffin, she walked toward the hall exit.

However, just as she was about to leave the hall, she was quickly stopped by the Demon statue:

"Lord Eugenia, the Duke has ordered that you cannot leave here until you are willing to make another prophecy."

Lord Eugenia’s face darkened at the sight of the Demon statue barring her way.

"However, the Duke also said that if you can inform the clan of the details of your experiences after this ’Reincarnation’ and the contents of your prophecy, while you cannot leave the ancient castle, you will have the freedom to move around within it," the Demon statue added.

Lord Eugenia narrowed her eyes and remained silent.

"Lord Eugenia, please stop resisting. No matter how you try to circumvent the Sealing, after ’Reincarnation’, you are bound to lose most of your memories and are bound to be hunted by the clan..."

"No matter how many times you try, you will not succeed because... you will never have an anchor of your own."

"Lord Eugenia, to betray the clan... will ultimately lead only to destruction," the Demon statue said solemnly.

Lord Eugenia glanced at it:

"Is this the warning he asked you to convey?"

The Demon statue bowed its head slightly to affirm.

Lord Eugenia let out a cold laugh:

"Then pass on a message for me. I will never compromise with a traitor."

"Traitors... will never meet a good end. All betrayals... will eventually backfire upon oneself!"

After saying this, she turned and left, re-entering her coffin.

Only her last distant sigh remained in the ancient castle:

"Including... myself."

...

The trust of Lady Anna was merely an episode.

Charlotte decided to keep the young girl Rena, initially intending to hand her over to Sebastian, but then thought better of it and kept her by her side as one of her personal maids.

Without Lady Anna’s company, this already silent girl of the Bloodline became even more reticent, which caused Charlotte to feel a pang of compassion.

Regardless of the girl’s true age, she seemed almost like a child to Charlotte, a reminder of her sister from her past life.

After all, Rena belonged to the Bloodline, and was a Bloodline of Royal Authority, so perhaps it was better to keep her close.

In her spare time, Charlotte also carefully perused the parchment scrolls left by Lady Anna.

It had to be said, this information was indeed useful to her, detailing some internal intelligence of the Bloodline, especially the division of Bloodline powers active in areas such as the New Moon Kingdom, Falling Star Kingdom, and the Yonette Empire, primarily in the West Yonette region, as well as which among them were more renowned.

However, these records were peculiar, mainly focusing on the Nais clan of the Stargazers of the Bloodline, distributed in the Falling Star Kingdom and the enclave of the Romany Duchy on the continent, and the timeframe covered was vast and fragmented.

Charlotte figured a lot of it was probably what Anna had seen from some texts.

The clearest records were from the past few decades, but Anna’s experiences seemed rather unpleasant; it appeared she was constantly being hunted by members of the Nais Bloodline clan.

She didn’t remember much about her own past anymore, only recalling that she seemed to have betrayed her family and was always searching for something, but her words were vague.

Charlotte felt somewhat confused, but not without gains, at least gaining quite an understanding of the Bloodline society of the Romany Duchy.

The Romany Duchy and the Count Castle Domain were neighbors, and in a sense, the closest Bloodline society to Charlotte.

As for the New Moon Kingdom... better not to mention those Blood Demon maniacs.

And so, as she read through the data left by Anna and traveled, Charlotte and her company finally emerged from the Violet Forest and arrived at the Castel Domain.
