Blood Holy Scripture: True Ancestor Charlotte de Castel -
Chapter 185: Escape 2
Chapter 185: Escape 2
Until she lightly sipped the drink at her lips did she suddenly realize, "My goodness... since when have I become so adept?"
She couldn’t help but glance at Sebastian, the elegant Flame Elf, who responded with a brilliant smile, standing respectfully by her side like the most loyal butler.
Charlotte: ...
She felt her behavior was somewhat gravitating towards the extravagance of Sebastian, who’d probably expect a red carpet even for a carriage...
It was truly a case of being spiritually contaminated by Sebastian.
This series of actions also stunned the Bloodline young girl and the middle-aged Knight watching.
Although they wanted to criticize why someone would carry a noble’s chair while traveling or why drink milk from a crystal goblet ...
But paired with the inexplicable aura of the girl, it truly added a unique... um, elegance.
Charlotte took a sip of milk and handed the crystal goblet back to Sebastian, who quickly offered her a folded handkerchief.
Charlotte elegantly wiped her mouth and placed the handkerchief in a tray that Sebastian seemed to pull out of nowhere, then leisurely inquired,
"Tell me, who are you? Why did you attack my convoy?"
"I have limited time and limited patience. You have one minute to answer my question."
She sat in the armchair with her legs crossed, looking down at the bound young girl and knight.
Charlotte realized that these two were probably not members of the Blood Demon Church.
Although they were of Bloodline, although they wielded the Holy Artifact left by the Blood Demon Duke Yabaton, although a summoning by the girl in Dark Night Ancient Castle had brought interference from a Bloodline Prince... Charlotte didn’t detect on them the disgusting scent characteristic of Blood Demon Cultists.
Charlotte was sure she would never forget that smell; it was the corrupted aura of a soul polluted by prolonged participation in Blood Sacrifices, and after unlocking "True Ancestor Liberation," Charlotte was very sensitive to that aura.
This piqued her curiosity even more.
Upon hearing Charlotte’s words, the girl glared at her, soon met by Sebastian’s innocent smile:
"Beautiful Miss, if you keep looking at the master with such unrestrained eyes, Sebastian truly wouldn’t be able to resist the urge to scoop those beautiful eyes out."
The girl faltered slightly, her demeanor lessening.
Her expression shifted as she pursed her lips and gritted her teeth, withdrawing her gaze.
The middle-aged Knight looked solemnly at Charlotte and her companion, then after a few seconds of silence, he said:
"Mercenary, we are freelance mercenaries active in Violet."
Following the Knight’s words, the girl glanced at him, then pursed her lips and fell silent.
Charlotte narrowed her eyes.
Her gaze lingered on the girl’s washed-out but still discernibly high-quality dress, surely from a top-tier textile workshop, and then shifted to look at the Knight’s army-style armor, tattered but clear.
"Mercenaries?"
The Knight noticed the playful tone in Charlotte’s voice and glanced, though he didn’t panic and said solemnly,
"Yes, mercenaries."
"No matter what our past positions were, at least... now we are freelance mercenaries from Violet."
The past?
Charlotte’s mind stirred slightly.
Frankly speaking, the attire of the girl and Knight resembled that of fallen nobles, and she couldn’t help speculating whether they once belonged to a family harboring a grudge against Castel.
However, she did not delve deeper into this matter.
Since they declared themselves mercenaries, their intentions were clear.
Someone had hired them not because of personal vendettas but for a task.
Someone... did not want her to return to her domain.
"Who employed you?"
Charlotte asked.
This time, the Knight remained silent.
Charlotte frowned, noticing her dissatisfaction, Sebastian snorted softly and snapped his fingers.
Following his motion, the Magic Prohibition chains binding the Knight instantly tightened, releasing a series of sparks.
The Knight gasped, his complexion turned pale instantly, and he nearly collapsed.
"Sorry, this... I cannot say. It’s a mercenary’s code."
He clenched his teeth and trembled as he spoke.
"The Third Prince! The person who hired us to attack your convoy is the Third Prince of New Moon Kingdom!"
On the other side, the initially silent Bloodline girl suddenly spoke.
"Miss?!"
The Knight widened his eyes.
The girl pursed her lips apologetically at him and then straightened her body, much flatter than Charlotte’s, and calmly said,
"Rahael is my Bloodline, I am the one in charge. Whatever it is, blame me."
"Miss!"
The Knight wanted to stand, but the girl stopped him:
"Enough, Rahael, surviving is more important to us than the code of mercenaries! I don’t want to see you suffer for my sake anymore!"
Hearing the girl’s words, the Knight opened his mouth, his expression complex.
Charlotte, however, raised an eyebrow.
The Third Prince?
Did the Third Prince not want to see her return to her domain?
Honestly, knowing this answer didn’t surprise her much; although she only met the Third Prince Philip once, Charlotte somehow didn’t have a good impression of him.
That seemed to be some instinct...
Moreover, Charlotte believed that her sense of the Duke’s daughter Eleanor’s strange state that day was definitely not an illusion.
