Chapter 108: -96- Welcome to Drunk Dream Saloon
Count Broey’s daughter?
Charlotte felt a stir in her heart as two vague figures surfaced in the depths of her memory.
Casimodo had mentioned that the twin daughters of Broey had been friends with her original self when they were children.
She instantly understood why she felt an inexplicable closeness when she first saw Lotti, because the other party was indeed a friend of her original self!
Wait...
Twins?
"Shouldn’t she have an older sister or a younger sister as well?"
Charlotte asked.
"I know this, the sacrifice in the Flame Demon Disaster, Mary de Broglie, Count Broey’s eldest daughter and the Broey family’s first in line, but she died in the sacrificial ritual."
"Lotti, the younger daughter, isn’t particularly well-known, of course... This is also because she’s the younger, although they are twins, the order of their birth has already determined their future inheritance status,"
Sebastian said, lost in his memories.
As he spoke, he stroked his chin:
"However, I recall that both of Count Broey’s daughters were offerings. If Lotti was one of them, how did she survive? And why is she involved with the Blood Demon Church?"
"In some sense, the Blood Demon Church should be her enemy, that’s no secret, unless she has lost her memory."
"Meow, that I do not know, but... the Flame Demon summoning ten years ago summoned only half, and the Flame Demon Vararoka’s power did not fully descend, perhaps that is the reason she survived. As for why she joined the Blood Demon Church, that’s a mystery. Maybe we can only ask her herself now,"
Nisi said.
Flame Demon summoning... Once again, Flame Demon summoning.
Although ten years had passed, Charlotte always felt as if the disaster still hung over Bold City like a curse.
Combining all the legends she heard and the numerous cases of girls missing in Bold City in recent years, Charlotte couldn’t help but develop a thought.
Sebastian had said that ten years ago, the conspiracy of the Blood Demon Church failed, and the Flame Demon Vararoka had been sealed.
But, only half its power had been summoned.
Now that the main character of that disaster ten years ago had emerged, Charlotte couldn’t help but deeply contemplate the conspiracy of the Blood Demon Church...
Did they... really give up on the Flame Demon summoning?
"Lord, I can’t believe Lotti is the same one from ten years ago. Now, I’m suddenly worried... The Blood Demon Church might have found other methods and still haven’t given up on the Flame Demon summoning,"
Sebastian said, with a heavy expression.
"The Church had suspected this early on, and the Great Priest had conducted investigations, but there were no conclusions,"
Nisi shook his head.
"Great Priest? Nisi, it remains uncertain whose side the Great Priest really stands on,"
Sebastian shook his head.
Hearing his words, Nisi paused and said:
"That can’t be, that old guy Linus may be somewhat hypocritical usually, but he still knows right from wrong on major issues. If there were to be another Flame Demon summoning, don’t expect him to serve as Chief Priest."
However, after saying this, he found that both Sebastian and Charlotte had fallen silent.
Their reaction made Nisi’s heart skip a beat:
"Wait... Miss Charlotte, Sebastian, what’s with those expressions?"
Charlotte’s eyelids drooped as she spoke solemnly:
"After Sebastian returned, he brought back a cursed book page for me. That cursed book page contained the magic of Undead Revival."
Nisi’s eyes widened in shock.
Having personally reported and witnessed the whole Blood Demon case at Castel Manor, it certainly knew the effects of the cursed book page in Mrs. Castel’s hands, and also knew where the page ended up.
"This... He... Is he mad?! To be involved with the Blood Demon Church!"
Nisi was still somewhat incredulous.
"Hehe, Nisi, it seems that you, a prominent Church official, don’t know as much about the Church as you think,"
Sebastian shook his head.
"Meow! I am not the Great Priest of Bold, how could I possibly know everything?"
"I think you’ve spent all your energy peeping at female priests, haven’t you?"
"You! That’s slander!"
"Do you dare say you haven’t?"
The cat and dog began to quarrel again, with Nisi’s tone noticeably a bit guilty.
Charlotte figured this guy must have used all his authority to peep at female priests, otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to gather all the information about Lotti so quickly and clearly; clearly a habitual offender.
"Alright, be quiet."
Charlotte knocked on the table.
The action wasn’t big, but Sebastian and Nisi quickly fell silent.
Nisi scrutinized their disguises and asked curiously:
"Miss Charlotte, looking at your attire, are you going out in disguise? Where to? Take Nisi with you!"
"That won’t do, pets aren’t allowed in the Drunk Dream Saloon,"
Sebastian laughed softly.
"Meow! Who are you calling a pet?!"
Nisi got angry again.
But soon, it realized something, its eyes lighting up:
"Meow? Wait a minute... are you going to the Drunk Dream Saloon? Did you get an invitation?"
"Meow meow meow! I want to go too! I want to go too!"
Looking at its eager expression, Charlotte pursed her lips and said,
"No way, you’re too conspicuous. Don’t follow us, and besides... I have a task for you."
"Sigh..."
Nisi’s face fell instantly, looking utterly dejected.
However, it soon perked up again and asked,
"What do you need me to do?"
"The Drunk Dream Saloon might be related to the Blood Demon Church. I want you to stay at the Church, listen for my signal, and once needed, immediately find Kara and mobilize the Demon Hunting Knights," Charlotte instructed.
"Meow? Then why not have the Demon Hunting Knights follow you like they did last night?"
"Because I don’t want to reveal my identity, especially to the Church," Charlotte stated indifferently.
...
Bold City, Outer City District.
Although the area had undergone a bloody battle the night before, peace had returned after a day and night, as if nothing had happened.
As night fell, the lights of the city district flickered off one by one. For the commoners, using lights at night was a luxury, and the whole district seemed to have been swallowed by darkness.
Of course, this was not entirely the case. For example, in the commercial streets of the Outer City District, the most bustling area, it was still brightly lit.
On the edge of the commercial street, in front of a dilapidated tavern, carriages would occasionally arrive under the cover of night.
These carriages were well-made, clearly from noble families, but most were without a family crest.
The carriages stopped in front of the tavern, and figures shrouded in cloaks hastened down and quickly entered the tavern.
Suddenly, another carriage arrived and stopped in front of the tavern.
The carriage door opened, an elegant middle-aged noble stepped down,
accompanied by a pretty little maid.
It was Sebastian and Charlotte in disguise.
"Is this where the Drunk Dream Saloon is being held?"
Looking at the run-down tavern before her, Charlotte was a bit surprised, her curious voice resonating within Sebastian’s mind.
"More accurately, this should be the gateway to the Drunk Dream Saloon. The actual venue can only be accessed through a teleportation array," Sebastian replied respectfully in his mind.
A teleportation array to the Drunk Dream Saloon?
Charlotte’s curiosity was piqued.
With a curious heart, she followed Sebastian into the tavern.
The tavern wasn’t very big, and there were no customers inside.
Only a half-sleepy old man sat at the bar.
Upon seeing the two enter, he cracked open his eyes and said,
"The tavern is closed to guests today."
Sebastian didn’t respond but instead produced the Drunk Dream Saloon’s invitation token.
A glint passed through the old man’s eyes, and he instantly straightened up, pointing down the corridor behind the bar and respectfully said,
"Lord, walk straight inside, turn left at the second room."
Sebastian pocketed the token, and he and Charlotte proceeded down the corridor one after another.
Entering the hallway, the two found the room the old man had pointed them to.
As they pushed open the door, Charlotte saw a complex magic array.
Beside the magic array stood a guardian, his entire body shrouded in shadows, emitting a transcendent aura.
"Token."
Seeing the two, he spoke in a low voice.
Sebastian once again took out the token.
The guardian took it, verified it, then handed it back respectfully, saying,
"Lord, welcome to the Drunk Dream Saloon."
With that, he gestured for them to proceed.
Sebastian strode confidently, chest out, into the magic array.
Charlotte naturally followed close behind.
A flash of light later, their figures vanished amid the magic.
Charlotte felt a wave of dizziness come over her.
When the dizziness ceased, she heard the sound of beautiful, enchanting music slowly rise to her ears, while she herself appeared in a grand and magnificent hall.
