Chapter 106: -94- Broey Sisters

"Lotti, I need an explanation."

The man leaned back slightly, his pale grey pupils coldly watching the lady before him.

Lotti was silent for a moment before she spoke,

"Charlotte has Nisi’s secret protection from the Church, even without Sebastian, there is still the risk of exposure... I have never found the opportunity."

"Oh, so that’s how it is. I thought maybe you had taken care of her for half a month and had grown somewhat reluctant to act."

The man nodded, his smile returning.

However, as he smiled, he suddenly shifted the topic,

"Just one more question..."

"My informant told me that three days ago, there was a suspected Church person who sent word to the Rose Association."

"There shouldn’t be many in the Church who know about the Holy Judgment, I know it wouldn’t be you, but... I still want to ask, where were you that morning?"

As he spoke, the man’s gaze deepened as he looked at her once more.

Calmly, Lotti replied,

"That day, I was at the Church Hospital all along."

"Alright, I believe you have not lied, for that matter can be easily checked, but... do you have any idea who could have sent that message?"

The man asked, toying with the Star Map in his hand.

Lotti was silent for a moment before shaking her head,

"I do not know."

After hearing Lotti’s response, the man did not speak further but merely watched her quietly.

Lotti, in turn, lowered her head, her posture respectful.

"Alright then, it’s possible that the leak came from the High Priest’s side. You can go now. Tonight’s Drunk Dream Saloon will be presided over by Jordan; you have been rather tired lately, take a good rest."

The man smiled and dismissed her.

Lotti shivered slightly, bowed respectfully, and retired slowly.

After she left, the man’s smile faded, and his gaze turned cold.

Behind him, black mist swirled, and a hunched figure slowly emerged, its voice hoarse and mocking,

"Heh heh, the little girl was lying in the end."

"Of course, I know. After all... from the beginning, her loyalty to me was never pure."

The man said indifferently.

"But you still accepted her, even knowing her impure motives."

"Of course, because we need her, need her to complete the final ritual, and to serve as the anchor for controlling the container."

The man narrowed his eyes.

After speaking, he looked towards the stooped shadow,

"You heard all that was just said?"

"Hey, I heard. A Great Knight has died, it seems... we must hasten our actions."

"Do you have much confidence? I do not wish to repeat the mistakes of ten years ago."

"Don’t worry, this time it’s very secure. The container has mostly recovered. The only threat might be the Evil God who resurfaced recently. Bold does not possess the power to threaten a Great Knight, except for... the Evil God."

"The thorny rose, eh.."

The man pondered.

Suddenly, a thought struck him,

"Do you think... could the Rose Association, through the Holy Light Judgment, have something to do with this mysterious Evil God? After all, the Great Knight was hunting down the president of the Rose Association at the time... Could it have been the Evil God who acted in secret?"

"The Evil God? You’re overthinking it. If the Evil God could deceive the Holy Light Judgment, then our Blood Demon Sect wouldn’t need to hide like we do now. Don’t underestimate the Divine Lord’s power; he is the Chief of Gods, the crownless king of all deities."

The stooped figure shook its head.

"I see..."

The man nodded slightly.

"Enough with the wild speculations. No matter which resurfaced Evil God it is, we do not make them our enemy. Let the Holy Royal Court deal with such matters. We only need to complete the ritual. Once successful, you and I will both become Divine Envoys! Then I shall be the earthly deputy of our lord, and you... will be the master of Bold!"

"Heh, being a Divine Envoy is not of interest to me. I still have to deal with the Holy Royal Court, I don’t fancy being burned as a Cultist. Your secret friendship is enough for me."

The man chuckled lightly.

Then, an idea came to him again,

"You just mentioned the container has almost recovered? How do you know that?"

"Heh heh, you guess."

The stooped figure laughed.

...

After leaving the study, Lotti put her hood and mask back on.

She did not leave the dungeon directly but walked along the long corridor in another direction.

At the end of the corridor was a closed stone door, guarded by two figures in black robes.

They were powerful, clearly two First Tier Transcendents.

And in front of the door was a young girl in a white dress, barefooted, quietly staring at the great door.

She appeared to be twelve or thirteen, bearing a resemblance to Lotti with her brown hair and brown eyes.

Seeing Lotti, her eyes lit up, and she quickly stood up:

"Lotti!"

After saying this, she ran towards Lotti, but her small body passed straight through Lotti’s form...

"Open the door, I need to check on the ’container.’"

Lotti spoke to the two black-robed Transcendents guarding the door.

She seemed to not see the girl at all.

"My Lord, the High Priest has decreed that no one but him may enter for the time being,"

the two black-robed figures remained unmoved.

Lotti furrowed her brow.

"Open the door."

She repeated.

The two black-robed figures still did not budge.

Lotti clenched her fist.

She took a deep breath, gave the two a deep look, and turned away.

"Hey, hey! Lotti! Can’t you see me?"

Seeing Lotti about to leave, the girl quickly followed after her.

It seemed as if Lotti sensed something and turned her head, but all she saw was the dim candlelight of the underground corridor.

Looking at the flickering candlelight, her gaze held a touch of confusion.

After a brief pause, she retracted her gaze, hesitated, and left the dungeon.

"Lotti!"

The girl called out once more, trying to catch up.

However, a hoarse voice rose behind her:

"Hehe, Miss Mary, no use shouting any longer, no one can see you except for me."

Hearing this voice, the girl shivered slightly, like a frightened little animal leaping aside.

She turned her head to look at the hunched figure that had appeared behind her; a flash of revulsion crossed her big glittering eyes:

"Is it you?"

"That’s right, it’s me."

The hunched figure laughed.

As he spoke, he sized up the girl, narrowing his eyes:

"It looks like you’ve been recovering well lately, aside from taking the opportunity during the Drunk Dream Saloon’s rituals to save some girls, you’ve started to send dreams on behalf of the Rose Association..."

"What are you talking about? I don’t understand."

The girl frowned.

"Hey, stop pretending. I know you’re the one leaking information, even masquerading as a figure of the Church in dreams, making the Rose Association believe it’s reality."

"How stupid! Don’t forget who it is that allowed you to have consciousness again, and what power it is that lets you continue living..."

"If it means living at the expense of others, then I’d rather die."

The girl spoke coldly.

The hunched figure snickered:

"Then I suggest you behave, unless... you don’t want anything to happen to Lotti. Stay alive and don’t even think about passing any messages."

The girl’s expression changed instantly:

"Are you threatening me?"

"Hehe, what if I am? So, Miss Countess Broey, will you listen, or not?"

The hunched figure spoke indifferently.

The girl clenched her fists, teeth gritted:

"If you dare to hurt my sister, I will never forgive you!"

...

Leaving the secret room, Lotti returned to the surface.

The brilliant sunlight shone through the manor windows onto her, somewhat dazzling.

Glancing back at the door to the secret room, Lotti clenched her fist, murmuring:

"I know you must still be alive, somewhere in Bold..."

"Otherwise, the Blood Demon Church wouldn’t continue the rituals..."

"No matter the cost, I will rescue you."

"Sister..."

After speaking, she let out a breath and walked out of the manor.

However, as she was about to leave through the estate’s main gate, Lotti was stopped by the guards at the entrance:

"Lady Lotti, Count has given the order that you cannot leave the estate for the time being."
