Chapter 87: Chapter 87: The Mystery of the Star Spirit

Yang Qizhou read the text twice before finally understanding the meaning of "Deactivation."

Here’s an analogy: the "Ancient Roots" are the soil, while the "mystical artifacts" are the seeds. The vitality contained within the mystical artifacts acts as pests devouring the crops. Only by exterminating the pests first can the seeds grow strong, eventually maturing into a deity fully under the control of the Wizard’s will.

"The Hermit’s post mentioned before,"

"Never use ordinary tools—or rather, mystical artifacts—too many times in reality, or something bad will happen."

"If mystical artifacts themselves possess vitality, though to a far lesser extent than ancient objects and therefore cause no negative effects, does that mean excessive use of mystical artifacts could enhance their activated nature, transforming them into ancient objects?"

"Or even worse..."

Though uncertain, Yang Qizhou couldn’t help but think he might be onto something. He made a mental note to find the Hermit for confirmation when he had the chance.

He now had the method to become a Wizard. If nothing went awry, the subsequent plot would likely revolve around this path.

The Chapters in the Mysticism section were numerous, and Yang Qizhou had no intention of stopping here. He clicked on the Chapters titled "Old God Chapter," "Outer God Chapter," and "Ancient Dominator Chapter," but much to his dismay... all of them were locked and unreadable.

Fuck.

"If the ’Divinity Chapter’ can’t be accessed either, I swear I’m smashing this phone." He muttered angrily to no one in particular, jabbing the screen with a vengeful force.

Before his eyes appeared colors beyond the description of language, nearly causing him to cry out in shock...

"Oh, holy shit—a golden legend."

Thankfully, he restrained himself. Disturbing the peace in the dead of night with poor soundproofing would definitely earn him a scolding from his neighbors.

Most pages of the "Divinity Chapter" were also grayed out, much like the "Wizard Chapter," with the only readable section being a Chapter titled "Star Spirit Chapter."

"Star Spirit? What’s this? Evil God’s Clan? Ancient Dominator? Hidden Entity?"

"And what’s its connection to ’Divinity’?"

Since he’d only know by opening it, Yang Qizhou didn’t overthink it. Suppressing the urge to analyze or speculate, he clicked into the Star Spirit Chapter of the Divinity section.

"The vast sea of stars forms the Star Realm, and each star represents the smallest unit of Authority."

"The Star Realm is made up of all the Authority and symbols across the entire universe."

"When a being contains the bare minimum fragment of Authority, chooses to embrace Divinity, and accepts the corresponding complete honorary title and symbol, they will light a star corresponding to them."

"This is the beginning of Rank."

"And the beginning of a deity."

"Once you become a Star Spirit, you will naturally understand everything tied to this Rank."

So that’s how it is...

Returning to the initial interface of the Mysticism section...

Yang Qizhou pondered, "Star Spirit is neither an Ancient Dominator nor a Hidden Entity. This ’title’ corresponds to a Rank level."

"The King of Giant Gods, Okas, once said that not only gods, but the strength of any extraordinary life form is determined by Rank, not by elements like Authority, symbols, honorary titles, or concepts."

"And a Star Spirit containing the bare minimum Authority would undoubtedly have the lowest Rank."

Adjusting to a different position on the sofa, Yang Qizhou took a few more sips of cola, his thoughts drifting back to the Diamond Building incident.

The "ruined statue of the Abyss Old God" held by Wang Chuan was nothing more than the lowest-grade ancient object among mystical artifacts.

In other words,

even if the Hermit Association were to orchestrate the birth of a "New God" behind the scenes, it would only amount to the weakest deity.

"That said, even the lowest-ranked Star Spirit deity embodies full Divinity and honorary title. In some sense, they are incarnations of certain cosmic symbols."

"The Deceit Bureau couldn’t handle them."

"Even I would have to flee."

"After all, the gap in life levels can’t be bridged by relying on mystical artifacts alone."

At this point, he had fully grasped the functionalities of both the Time-Space Gate and the Mysticism section. Yang Qizhou stretched hard, now rather looking forward to becoming a Wizard.

But when he considered the universally despised nature of Wizards, he felt a bit less enthusiastic.

Something about it screamed "trap."

Still, he had no other choice at this point. He could only follow the Wizard storyline forward. Besides, while Wizards came with a built-in Taunt Aura, their strength truly was on a BUG-like level.

Closing out of the Mysticism section, the plot moved onward.

...

...

"Unbelievable."

"You couldn’t help but exclaim in amazement."

"Even though the seventeenth ’Truth Hall’ was heavily damaged, with many functionalities already lost, just this tip of the iceberg was enough to deeply shake your soul."

"Suddenly, you thought of something,"

"To become a Wizard, one must first contain the Ancient Roots; this is the foundation for creating deities. Yet, you had no idea how to go about containing the Ancient Roots."

"Maybe this lifelike doll in front of me knows," you thought, voicing your doubts aloud.

"Little Seventeen said... As the Spirit of Truth Hall, I am obligated to answer any questions from a future Wizard like you—unless I don’t know the answer."

"Little Seventeen continued,

"There’s no fixed method for containing the Ancient Roots. Some lucky ones might contain them after just a nap, while unlucky ones might study their whole lives in vain."

"But one thing is certain: the prerequisite for containing Ancient Roots is avoiding contamination by Authority’s power."

"You couldn’t help but mutter, ’Is it really this metaphysical?’"

"You recalled the scene where you almost contained the Ancient Roots. It was right before drinking the Divine Grace Water. Had you drunk it and gained the ’fire-stealing’ power, you’d likely have lost your chance to be a Wizard."

"You don’t know whether to feel fortunate or frustrated."

"Just then, you saw Little Seventeen leaning in mysteriously. She said to you... Future Wizard, you’re truly lucky. I happen to know the current location of the Lucky Coin—it’s in the Prayer Box inside Asgard’s Heroic Spirit Hall. Perhaps you could find a way to retrieve it."

"Asgard again?"

"You thought of the Circle of Friendliness, the Holy Sacrifice used to summon the King of Virtue, which was lost in the North Realm Abyss, not far from Asgard."

"This doll really is a repository of knowledge," you mused, looking at Little Seventeen, her features growing more fatherly and kind in your eyes.

"You had no intention of stopping your information extraction efforts,"

"You pressed on with more questions... ’What about the Black Abyss Flower, Yellow Beast Blood, and Foolish Snake Skin? Do you know where these deactivation materials are? And also, what exactly is the Power of Time-Space needed to repair the Time-Space Gate?’"
