Chapter 112: Chapter 110: The Man of Destiny Isn’t a Game Character, Is He?

There’s actually a map called ’Bright Outpost’?

Sitting on the sofa, Yang Qizhou felt his posture was uncomfortable. He shifted again and reached for a Coke bottle to take a swig, only to realize it was empty—gone was much of his joy.

As for the current plot, Yang Qizhou was momentarily surprised, but upon careful reflection, it turned out to be quite logical.

The ’Wandering Poet’, activated by the No. 1 Truth Hall Fragment, roamed the desolate borders of ’Asgard’ and the ’Northern Abyss’, collecting nearby materials, compiling them into ’epics’, and spreading them thereafter.

That’s essentially how it works.

But this also led to a new problem.

Yang Qizhou pondered deeply. frёeweɓηovel_coɱ

"Since ’Bright Outpost’ and ’Wings of Greed’ really exist, then what about the others, like ’The Chosen One’ or ’Sky Blue Spear’?"

"There’s a high probability they also exist."

"Though the legends described in the epic are mostly fictional. The reasoning is simple: if the epics were entirely real, then ’The Chosen One’ should have already appeared, collaborated with the ’Goddess’, and slain the ’Wings of Greed’."

"Yet as of now, ’Wings of Greed’ continues rampaging, and ’Bright Outpost’ languishes in misery."

"The stories conveyed in the epics, after all,"

"are just stories."

Even so, Yang Qizhou wasn’t disheartened—instead, he believed the epics served a greater purpose.

The reason was simple: while the epics narrated by the Wandering Poet contained plenty of fictional elements, they also held kernels of truth—such as the origins of ’Bright Outpost’, the existence of ’Wings of Greed’, and events of the past.

This would grant game characters a clearer understanding of the ’Northern Abyss’, enabling them to make more precise decisions when facing crossroads of choice.

Move forward, move forward fast—figure out the issues surfacing at the bottom of the ’Northern Abyss’. Of course, if the issues happen to be resolved along the way, that’s even better.

Soon, the pale text refreshed again.

...

...

"The epics turned out to not be entirely fictional—at least parts related to ’Bright Outpost’ and ’Wings of Greed’ were genuinely real. This astonished you deeply."

"Immediately, you began to deliberate seriously."

"Although these warriors at ’Bright Outpost’ are quite young, only twelve or thirteen, they possess transcendent power and have long defended the ’Northern Abyss’, fending off potential forces of evil—they must have an intimate understanding of this place."

"If you can forge a friendship with them, there might be unexpected benefits to gain."

"This thought crossed your mind—you didn’t feel the slightest discomfort about playing scheming games with children or exploiting them. With a warm smile on your face, your voice grew as gentle as possible."

"Brave little warriors, I am a traveler from the great and lofty ’Asgard’. Having heard of trouble arising in the Northern Abyss, I came here specifically to investigate. I bear no malice—you need not be so wary."

"I’ve already established a new order here prohibiting ’fraud’."

"Look—I carry no traces of disorder upon me. This should prove that I am not lying."

"As for whether this heartfelt performance could move the young warriors at ’Bright Outpost’, you secretly hoped, doing your best to exude sincerity."

"But you were overthinking it."

"Though these kids are young, having grown up at ’Bright Outpost’, their grasp on ’Mystical Knowledge’ far surpasses yours, clearly understanding that order applies evenly to both its creators and every individual subject to it."

"What happened next took you even further by surprise."

"You heard voices rising excitedly—emotion pouring into every word. It was the young warriors of ’Bright Outpost’..."

"This person is an envoy from ’Divine City’! The envoy from ’Divine City’! We’re saved, we’re saved!"

"The great Ancient Gods have not abandoned ’Bright Outpost’."

"This is wonderful—we are not forgotten!"

"You were startled, thinking to yourself—do they really need to be this excited? Could there be some massive pitfall hidden within this situation?"

"You grew cautious, contemplating whether to activate the ability of the ’Dark Crow of Profane Fortune,’ rewind time to your last decision point, and bypass this place entirely to head straight toward the ’Northern Abyss’."

"Just as you were thinking this, a voice rose directly in front of you—the voice of the oldest boy, a sixteen-year-old."

"He said... Respected envoy from ’Asgard’, my name is Harriet—I am currently the Guard Captain of ’Bright Outpost’. Would you be willing to have a chat with me?"

"Of course! Without hesitation, you agreed immediately—after all, the very reason you came to ’Bright Outpost’ was to use it as a stepping-stone to understand the ’Northern Abyss’ further."

"Surrounded by the adulation of the young warriors, you passed through the immense city walls."

"You arrived at a reception room."

"Harriet instructed his comrades to leave—to tend to the aftermath of the chaos wrought by ’Wings of Greed,’ bury the dead, and straighten things outside—then entered the room with you alone."

"Now, you were alone with ’Harriet’."

"The sixteen-year-old boy removed his helmet, and you saw overwhelmed emotions flash in his eyes. He said... Traveler from ’Asgard,’ you must find our intense reaction toward your arrival rather odd, don’t you?"

"You nodded—indeed curious about the fervor of the young warriors’ response."

"Harriet’s eyes betrayed despair and fear. Through his retelling, you gradually pieced together the truth of the situation."

"In the Fourth Epoch—oh, that is, at the dawn of this age—ancient ’Abyssal Old Gods’ tore open a rift connecting the ’Endless Abyss’ and the Material World at the bottom of the Northern Abyss. Not just one emerged; their evil powers flooded the land, corroding minds, twisting flesh, and altering human consciousness—a horror beyond imagination, a despair without end."

"This enraged the King of Nature, one of the ruling Three Ancient God Kings of the ’Radiant Kingdom’ who presided over nature itself."

"He descended upon this land."

"There, He crushed the rampaging terror and stamped out all of the ’Abyssal Old Gods.’"

"He hurled the ’Sky Blue Spear’ into the depths of the Northern Abyss, then imbued eternal power upon the abyss, sealing shut the temporal rift connecting it to the ’Endless Abyss.’"

"To prevent the ’Endless Abyss’ from resurging, the King of Nature created a massive city—the ’Bright Outpost’—and entrusted the North Realm Clan with the mission to guard the ’Northern Abyss,’ ensuring the ’Abyssal Old Gods’ would never return to mankind’s world."

"Eons passed uneventfully; the North Realm Clan tirelessly safeguarded the ’Bright Outpost,’ repelling the evil forces of the ’Endless Abyss’ from breaking into the old lands."

"They believed these days of vigilance would continue forever."

"Yet no one expected calamity to strike so suddenly."

"The ’Sky Blue Spear’ mysteriously vanished, dissolving the seal, and unimaginable horrors poured forth from the depths of the Northern Abyss. The catastrophe of the epoch’s dawn returned to sweep across the earth."

"The North Realm Clan succumbed to abyssal corruption; transcendent powers ran amok, twisting, breeding madness, deformity, and ultimately decay..."

"Until utterly collapsing."

"We prayed to the ’Divine City’ of ’Asgard,’ but received no response. We sent warriors to the Divine City, but none ever returned."

"This brought utter despair to all North Realm Clan members, who began to believe that the gods residing in ’Asgard’ had abandoned us entirely."

"But now..."

"Traveler from ’Asgard,’ you have arrived at ’Bright Outpost.’ This proves the Ancient Gods have not forsaken us. They guided you here to bring salvation to us—those trapped within the darkness of endless night."

...

...

There was too much information woven into the text. Yang Qizhou scrolled through it several times before finally sorting it out.

An irrepressible sense of excitement surged in his heart.

"Initially, I thought I’d face a myriad of twists and turns. Who’d have thought I’d pinpoint the underlying issue at the bottom of the ’Northern Abyss’ so easily?"

"First, let’s organize the details."

"The base of the Northern Abyss holds a spatial rift, which emerged during the early Fourth Epoch, connecting to a realm called the ’Endless Abyss.’ High-positioned ’Abyssal Gods’ crawled out from it, drawing the attention of the ’King of Nature.’ This powerful Ancient God King not only eradicated all the evil gods but also used the ’Sky Blue Spear’ to seal the rift."

"Recently, however, the ’Sky Blue Spear’ mysteriously disappeared. Terrifyingly malignant forces have now erupted from the depths of the Northern Abyss, and the absence of the seal has allowed ancient evils to once again sweep across the land."

"The first place impacted... was none other than ’Bright Outpost.’"

As for the North Realm Clan praying to the nine Ancient Gods of ’Asgard,’ receiving no response, and sending warriors to the Divine City only for them to never return—Yang Qizhou had his own guesses as to why.

To reach ’Asgard,’ one would have to traverse the wilderness, teeming with unknown mysticism, rampant danger, and intertwined horrors. Assuming they even surpassed such trials and arrived at the ’God’s Fortress,’ the place had long been infiltrated by evil gods, becoming as plugged as a cork—that ordeal would very likely end with the warriors being silenced by snitches worshipping the evil gods, their tongues or kidneys taken as offerings to those dark deities.

As for why the prayers of the North Realm Clan were ignored by the ’Nine Ancient Gods’?

The answer was obvious.

The ’Moonlight Ancient God’ had gone mad from listening to epics recited by the ’Wandering Poet.’ The ’Star Color Ancient God’ had reportedly been impersonated by a mysterious entity akin to a devil. The ’Fire Stealing Ancient God’... well, He was busy dreaming.

That’s just the known issues—who could assure no other Ancient Gods were compromised?

"Wait a second..."

Yang Qizhou suddenly realized something.

"The events at Bright Outpost seem suspiciously like the beginning of the Wandering Poet’s epic."

"With elements like ’Bright Outpost,’ ’Wings of Greed,’ and ’Sky Blue Spear’ already appearing, the remaining figure—’The Chosen One’—might actually turn out to be the game character."
