Chapter 316: Asking for help

Andrew was humming to himself as he watched the garage door close behind him. The car was turned off, he grabbed the bag from the passenger seat, and he was just opening the car door when the door to the house swung open.

In the doorway was his stunning, gorgeous, most handsomest man he’d ever laid eyes on. His boyfriend. The man he wanted to marry.

Maxwell was wearing a soft-looking baggy black knit sweater over an equally soft looking shirt. The bagginess of the sweater meant that the collar he was wearing was in full display. All of its gems and velvet.

It was the one he’d worn during Andrew’s rut. Andrew felt his cock harden instantly.

His pants were wide pieces of dark fabric, covering his legs. He looked like a damn model as he leaned against the doorway, his arms crossed as he watched Andrew step out of the car. He didn’t look upset in the slightest, or even angry. In fact, he just looked happy to see him.

"How did it go?" He asked and Andrew could feel as his gaze darted towards the bag, his eyebrows moved up slightly, and his lips curled even more. He was pleased, and he knew that the man already had an idea of what Andrew had been up to today. That was okay. While Andrew did want some privacy, he didn’t want Maxwell thinking that he was running around on him.

"I think...it went well." Andrew started, closing the door behind him. Maxwell opened his arms as Andrew got closer and there was no way Andrew could turn the man down. He wrapped his arms around him, lifting him up in his arms and Maxwell wrapped his legs around his waist. He held onto him, breathing in his scent as Andrew entered into the house, closing the door behind him.

He then went over to where they took off their shoes, kicking them off before heading for the couch. Maxwell was ordering a whole new set for the new house. It was going to take a while for it to get there, so he was sad that he had to take this stuff with him. Andrew didn’t start the argument with him about it, especially when Maxwell said it reminded him of his single life.

What idiot would argue about that? Don’t take the furniture that reminds you of being single. He wasn’t going to make the man keep it, especially when Maxwell was intent on selling it.

Andrew settled onto the couch, still in his outside clothes but he didn’t mind. Both him and Maxwell were taking deep, heavy breaths of each other’s scent. Andrew was happy to get it from the source, and listened as Maxwell made a small noise of content.

"The Doctor’s visit was good?" Andrew confirmed and he felt Maxwell nod.

"I’m not pregnant. At least they don’t think so." Andrew froze at that. Maxwell also stiffened. "Is that okay?" He asked. Worry creeping into his normally confident tone. "I mean, if you want-" Andrew gave Maxwell a squeeze.

"It’s fine. It’s just always going to be a shock, I think." Andrew told him carefully. Then he laughed. "I didn’t even tell my Mom about the pregnancy scare." He said and Maxwell relaxed.

"You’re okay?" Maxwell confirmed. Anxious, worried. Andrew hated that he was that way, but was glad that they were talking about it again. That they were willing to be so open about this concern.

"Maxy, it’s okay. I really am glad that you aren’t pregnant right now. It just...even if we decide we really want kids, right now is not the time." Andrew said. "That being said, if you do turn out to be pregnant, I’m not going to turn tail and run. I just think with Richard, the potential wedding, and fighting another company tooth and claw that it might not be the right time to have kids. We should...plan that stuff out." Andrew told him and Maxwell gave him a squeeze.

"You’re okay planning that with me?" Maxwell said quietly and Andrew felt his heart squeeze.

"Max, answer me honestly. Do you want kids?" He forced Maxwell to move back so that they could meet each other’s gaze. Maxwell didn’t hesitate.

"I want your kids. I want to be a parent with you to our kids. While I do want that, I don’t want to force you either. You have a choice in this, and despite my heat urges, I do not want to baby trap you." Andrew’s heart squeezed.

"You couldn’t baby trap me. I’ve already fallen for your first trap. I can’t fall any deeper." Maxwell tilted his head to the side.

"My first trap?" He asked and Andrew grinned.

"When you opened the door for me the first time, Maxy. I thought you were the prettiest thing I’d ever seen." Andrew leaned in, pressing a kiss against his lips as Maxwell melted in his arms. "Speaking of, I have something for you." Andrew said, pulling the bag into view. "I hope you like it." Andrew said, a little nervous. Maxwell gave him a questioning look before he released Andrew. Andrew’s hands slid to his ass, holding him in place comfortably as Maxwell pulled out the tissue paper hiding the box. It was clearly not a ring by the size.

Andrew got to watch as confusion crossed Maxwell’s face as he moved the bag to the side, carefully, delicately, before he opened the box. His eyes went wide as he stared at the delicate golden chain, the gemstones on the anklet, before he turned his gaze to Andrew.

"What did you buy?" He asked. It should have sounded accusing, but with the soft way Maxwell said those words, Andrew knew that at the very least, he liked it. Andrew gave his flesh a squeeze through the soft fabric against his skin. A squeeze tight enough that Andrew could tell the man wasn’t wearing underwear.

Andrew felt his face heat as he realised that, before clearing his throat and answering Maxwell’s question.

"It’s an anklet. I...was showing off a bit, and felt a little guilty about not buying anything, so I thought of something that you could wear that wouldn’t get in the way of any of your outfits. He showed me a few options, but this was the one I liked. It also...was probably the most expensive one." Andrew admitted. Maxwell tore his gaze from the anklet long enough to meet Andrew’s embarrassed gaze.

"How much was it?" He asked. Andrew cleared his throat again.

"Well, my gut instinct is to tell you it’s a lot, but I don’t know if you consider it a lot of money." Andrew said. "It was, with taxes, over $20 000." Maxwell turned his gaze back to the anklet before reaching out a hand, touching one of the gems. His lips turned up before he turned, his bright blue eyes warm, soft, and gooey. Andrew was sure he’d made the right choice now.

"That is a lot of money for you, isn’t it?" Maxwell asked softly and Andrew nodded.

"I’ve also come to terms with the fact that it’s probably a third, maybe half of what I’m going to pay for your ring." Andrew told him seriously and Maxwell tilted his head back and laughed. It was the prettiest sound he’d ever heard, only made better when Maxwell leaned in, pressing his smiling lips against Andrew’s.

"You don’t even know you’re so charming, do you?" Maxwell said, pulling away with a smile still on his lips, in his eyes. "You are putting aside over $60 000 for my engagement ring? What a lucky man I am." Maxwell teased and Andrew felt his lips turn up.

"You are worth so much more than that, but I feel if I go any higher, the ring is just going to be gaudy and not worthy of you." Maxwell’s ears turned pink and Andrew’s impassioned declaration. Maxwell turned his face away, fanning it with his hand.

"You’re too much sometimes. I would be happy with anything." Maxwell said, confirming what Andrew had always assumed.

"Alright. You’re getting a ring pop, and we’ll start it next week." Andrew said so stoically that it took Maxwell a moment to realise he was joking before Maxwell laughed, leaning in to bite his bottom lip.

"Don’t scare me like that! I need more time to plan the perfect proposal." Maxwell warned and Andrew gave him a warm, lazy smile.

"I need to decide on a ring first. I’m so out of my depth." Andrew admitted and Maxwell smiled, touching Andrew, forcing his hand through the folds of his jacket and buttons of his shirt to press his hand against Andrew’s chest.

"Really? There is something you don’t know?" Maxwell asked and Andrew nodded.

"Rings aren’t flowers, and they are far more complicated than I thought. I thought my head was going to explode when they were explaining to me the different cuts for a diamond. And that diamonds don’t come in just in clear." Andrew shook his head, shuddering and Maxwell laughed.

"Oh yeah? A little overwhelmed?" He asked and Andrew nodded, He squeezed Maxwell’s ass in his hands.

"Yeah. So I wanted to ask you for some of your opinions. Just your hardline ’I don’t want this’ opinions. That way I can understand what you don’t want." Andrew said, a little nervous. "I’ve learned that people normally have a ring in mind when they want an engagement ring." Andrew said and Maxwell chuckled. He leaned in, kissing Andrew’s nose.

"Of course I can help you with that. I’m not going to leave you out to dry. But, you have to help me in turn." Andrew swallowed as Maxwell met his gaze. Maxwell tilted his head back slightly, looking down at Andrew. His fingers that he’d pressed against his chest rubbed small circles into his skin. "Could you help me put this anklet on?" He asked and Andrew felt his cock jump in his pants. Maxwell’s smile widened. "Please?"

"It would be my pleasure." Andrew got out and Maxwell narrowed his gaze slightly as his smile widened.

"Thank you, Baby."
