Chapter 61: LXI. Priest

Chapter 61: LXI. Priest

The demented giant swung a broken board from the ship’s rail in a sweeping motion, easily overpowering the resurrected corpses under Fen’s command, who weren’t a match at all. With a powerful fling, a rattling stream of two or three dozen resurrected corpses were all turned into meat paste, unable to take further action.

Even when swarms of resurrected corpses clambered onto the giant’s body, their bites and swings of axes and swords didn’t seem to faze him in the slightest.

Batches of resurrected corpses were dispatched with ease.

Fen’s strategy had utterly failed. His original intention was to have these resurrected corpses entangle the more than twenty priests to make it easier for Wolman and Haywood to take action, as they were at a significant disadvantage.

Seeing the situation worsening by the moment, with pirates standing on the deck only to be sent down to certain death, they fired their flintlock guns at the priests below. However, the bullets were ineffective against the priests’ heavy armor, merely leaving superficial marks.

Despite this, the resurrected corpses weren’t completely useless. Along with Wolman and Haywood, they had bought enough time.

The Chain Bombs for Lord Fuma Keqing’s chain mace were now fully loaded.

Fen had a plan in place. Without the need to resort to the Netherworld Stele, the outcome was already decided.

The giant was simply holding on through sheer willpower; he had been heavily wounded by shotgun blasts from the cannons, and all that was needed was a final blow.

Although they couldn’t adjust the trajectory directly, a volley from all eighteen cannons ensured that the giant would be hit, no matter his size.

"Fire!"

Following Fen’s command,

All eighteen cannons boomed once more, the sound echoing fiercely with gunpowder smoke filling the air. The chain bombs embedded themselves in the sea erosion cliff, creating large craters and sending shards of rock exploding in all directions, causing the entire cave to tremble ever so slightly.

The giant’s massive form served as a perfect target, and as he swung wooden planks near the shore, he was struck by a heavily spun Chain Bomb. With the force of centrifugal power, it bored a gaping hole almost eighty centimeters wide through the right side of his chest, spraying chunks of flesh and splattering blood plasma. Through the massive opening, one could see the scenery behind.

The shockwave from the impact further scrambled his insides, breaking his spine, causing his upper body to sag awkwardly askew.

However...

Bang!

It was unimaginable how tenacious his life force was. Still, he managed to lift the large plank and squash the last few dozen resurrected corpses into meat paste.

Fen knew very well that the giant was on his last legs, nothing to fear. Raising an arm, he conjured wisps of purple mist that coiled and shot forth as a murder of black ravens.

In the blink of an eye, a storm of crows had surrounded the giant. These ravens, transformed from spell power, were nothing short of birds of prey.

No matter how the giant swung his hands, he couldn’t disperse them; over a hundred ravens began pecking at his flesh, starting at the wounds. Already riddled with holes from before, he let out a harrowing scream as about twenty ravens entered the gaping hole in his chest, fluttering and feasting inside.

In less than a moment,

The severely wounded giant took his last breath.

Then the ravens once again dissipated into mist, seeping into the limbs and bones of the huge cadaver, regenerating black flesh, the eyes taking on a deep purple hue.

A terrifying creature... a revenant giant.

"Block them all on the pier, make sure they don’t make it back to shore,"

Fen made a decisive call.

Wolman, initially baffled, didn’t understand why they couldn’t go back—he was nearly at his limits. But when he saw the huge revenant giant on the shore, he understood.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The colossal revenant giant, swinging his plank, reduced all remaining Constitutional Soldiers and Guardians to mush, charging towards the pier, now completely under Fen’s control.

"Quick, fall back!"

Marcus remained composed, issuing commands to the priests.

But Fen wasn’t about to give them that chance. Though his physical strength was matched by Mika’s, it didn’t extend to spiritual bodies.

A phantom of Fen stepped out from his side, an exact duplicate.

Then, "Fen" reached out with a large hand, drew up three spiraling water spouts from the sea, each as thick as a bowl, converging them into his palm. They solidified into a freeze so severe that it was harder than metal, forming a semi-transparent deep blue Ice Crystal Giant Sword in his hand.

Fen, once a noble himself, possessed some understanding of swordsmanship. Though not a master of the art, he was skilled enough to be a Silver Level adventurer.

The phantom glided through the air with utmost grace, stepping lightly a few times before circling behind a group of priests.

Fen didn’t aim to kill the priests, he just needed to block them for a while.

The phantom, composed entirely of spell power, took a light step forward, and frost began to spread from the pier, quickly forming a blanket that passed under the feet of the priests. Ice threads began to grow and coil along their armor, as if the chill of winter made the heavy armor brittle.

The group of priests slowed down in their movements, but with the strength specialized by the Magic Rune Construction, they managed to push on towards Fen, albeit at a much slower pace.

Fen clutched the Ice Crystal Giant Sword in his hand. Infused with considerable spell power and strength, and with the priests weakened, he swung the ice crystal giant sword with force. The heavy armor, now brittle, cracked as he smote, forcing all the priests in front of him to retreat.

Wolman was also aiding Fen, picking up the Giant Axe again and engaging the priests at the rear to keep the middle ones completely blocked.

At this time, the giant resurrected corpse also charged forward under Fen’s command.

Although it was impossible to multitask to that extent, Fen had the capability to do so without seeking precision.

While Fen controlled the giant, the phantom kept the priests at bay, and he himself was issuing commands.

"Fire at the priests with your guns!"

With that, these men were finished.

Fen himself picked up a matchlock gun and fired at Marcus alongside the pirates on deck.

Bang, bang, bang...

The smoke from the gunfire filled the air.

The giant resurrected corpse had already charged onto the pier. Marcus’s strongest force was now utilized by Fen; without the need for weapons, a mere lift of a hand flung a priest into the sea to drown alive.

Nail head hammers and Chain Maces hit it but were of no use; at this moment, heavy gear turned into a death knell. In less than five seconds, all were thrown into the sea, with no survivors.

Marcus.

He had become a commander without troops, seemingly just an ordinary old man blinded and clutching Scriptures.

The guns fired in unison.

But still, due to some strong luck, not a bullet hit him.

Fen frowned tightly, this Priest had fallen into desperation, and yet he showed no sign of emotional fluctuation?

"Giants, after all... lack wisdom."

Marcus stated calmly.

Outside the cave.

Archer had already reached Liszt and the others, galloping non-stop towards this direction in torrential rain and mud, their clothes all spotted with mud.

Archer, seeing the main forces assembled and the big job nearly done, with all of Black Sail gathered, truly didn’t know how they could lose.

When Liszt entered the cave and saw this purgatory scene, he was taken aback. It was even more tragic than the battle at Blue Bay Port, with the overpowering stench of blood, suggesting that these people had faced a full barrage of heavy artillery.

General Fen was extremely reliable, having killed all the madmen of the Church Court, but it seemed there was still one left.

Marcus stood with the Scriptures in one hand, his back to the other.

He had become a commander without troops, surrounded by the Black Sail Pirate Group, notorious in the East Sea Domain, trapped.

But...

He raised his hand slightly, an invisible force extracting several iron swords from the bodies of fallen soldiers, flying towards his hand through the air. He then broke all the sword blades, keeping only one hilt grasped in his hand, while the other iron blades were twisted together in a spiral, continually churning.

As he prayed silently.

Thick roots entangled the feet of the giant resurrected corpse.

Marcus casually waved his spiral sword, bursting forth a crushing spiral sword wind.

The five-meter-tall resurrected corpse was instantly shredded by the gale, ground into fragments, vanishing into the wind without leaving a trace, returning to nothingness.
