Chapter 545: CLXXIV. The Path to Becoming a King

"Phew..."

Goria let out a long breath, slung on the strap, her face blushing.

She had always worn just leather armor, but since arriving at Heaven Port, she had changed a lot. Little Mei liked her dressing like this, so she had to go along with her wishes.

It wasn’t very appropriate. Little Mei always liked to play in the command room. Last time in Liszt’s office at Heaven Port, it was so embarrassing.

Meredith dressed herself properly and prepared to rinse her mouth first.

An untimely knock on the door interrupted her.

"Didn’t I say not to disturb us unless it’s important?"

Meredith’s expression turned cold.

Although the Heroic Level adventurers absorbed by the Black Sail didn’t have actual management authority and their positions were merely as security consultants, their status was still above the middle management.

Meredith wiped her mouth indifferently. Seeing Goria fully dressed, she opened the door to the control room.

It turned out to be Ox. She had little interaction with this Merfolk; it was natural for him to be here today as planned.

Ernie, also known as the Mirror Sea Sword King, had met too.

"Who is this?"

Even though Meredith believed she loved Goria deeply, she couldn’t help but be moved at this moment.

In five words, a supremely dazzling beauty.

It’s not that she was breathtakingly beautiful but her aura was extraordinarily outstanding.

Her naturally curly, ink-black wavy hair almost reached the ground, her skin as smooth as jade, seemingly with reflective crystals on her surface, her whole being glowed warmly and scattered light. Her features were beautifully sculpted as if 3D printed, and her clam-like multicolored captivating eyes were hard to meet directly, a tear mole under one eye.

Despite only wearing stall-bought clothes from Heaven Port, a loose white short sleeve and black hot pants, barefoot, this style didn’t affect her supreme charm at all.

Meredith had seen a lot; in the Mirror Sea mermaid black market, a single mermaid cost two hundred Golden Dragons, a luxury only Great Nobles could afford.

However, due to the direct killing policy towards outsiders by Mirror Sea in recent years, mermaids had become scarce in the Western Continent.

"This is Moying, one of the students of the Great Mage of the Mirror Sea Holy City."

Ox introduced, implying that this group with Scissors Legs, let alone those abstract people, should be mindful of Moying’s teacher’s status in Mirror Sea, equivalent to the Eleven People Pavilion of the Tower Alliance, deserving proper hospitality.

If not for someone of her level, don’t even think about improving the water quality issue. The great arcane mysteries of Mirror Sea were products of the Ancient Era; only someone of her level could possibly describe them accurately to solve current Mirror Sea problems.

Better hope these Scissors Legs don’t get any funny ideas.

But they already did!

Meredith almost drooled, pretending to cover her mouth in shock, discreetly swallowing back.

Goria, annoyed, pinched her, realizing what she said in the Aran Inn was all a lie.

Moying sensed the delicate atmosphere but had to complete the task assigned by her teacher, helping Ox solve the Black Sail problem.

Better to get along amicably.

"It’s hard to believe that a remote communication crystal is such a luxury in Mirror Sea; now a message only costs a dozen silver coins."

Moying changed the topic.

Due to no commercial activity between Mirror Sea and the inland, there was no exchange rate, and smugglers barter trade items as they didn’t recognize Mirror Sea shell coins.

But if converted, three copper coins equaled one shell coin.

"I need to contact Drifting City."

To confirm there were no major issues with Goria, stating that a special task force was formed by the Aran Navy to deal with the Black Sails, which had already set out, but they hadn’t been seen at Golden Palm Port.

Maybe because the Rebellious Marquis was hesitant, drifting left and right.

She conveniently used the SS Jingbo’s radio, so they knew she had successfully rendezvoused.

"I have arrived at Golden Palm Port and have commenced countermeasures against the merchant association harbors." Ox said.

This port wasn’t far from Drifting City, with no real delay.

"Return now, General Ao, my proudest belief. Tears inexplicably flow." Rein’s voice came from the speaker.

Ox felt numb all over. Although no relay station meant less energy consumption, each message still cost silver coins. What the hell is this response?

This money was deducted from public funds. One wasted message cuts a month’s salary for a low-level pirate.

Also, wasn’t this guy supposed to be missing?

"Weren’t you missing? Never mind... Is Wolman there? What’s the situation with Liszt? If Celeste is there, I have something to discuss with her too."

Ox had brought ten tons of goods and needed to handle that first.

He had done considerable preparation, understanding the Narrow Sea Convention Organization.

This organization was mainly for mediation, mostly a Giant Whale Guest monologue, restraining the Pirate Kings from the Five Permanent factions from biting each other like mad dogs.

The Pirate Kings were in constant bloody wars with privateer certificates issued like crazy in the Narrow Sea’s chaotic ecology; they had become militarized and disciplined.

Each Pirate King had their turf, routes, and domain in the Narrow Sea.

The forces were intertwined.

The major ports of the Narrow Sea also saw merchants associations, casino capital, and real estate moguls, each with their domains, some joining the Narrow Sea Convention Organization.

With Giant Whale Guest mediating, it wasn’t a complete mess.

Doringger was a hidden member of this organization. The goods from Mirror Sea weren’t only sold on Beima East Coast; even those west of the Narrow Sea liked some of Lord Dor’s tough goods.

If a deal could be made, the next step was clear. This batch of goods should be given directly to the Pirate King under Lostra. Black Sail couldn’t sell them; otherwise, there’d be trouble at Liszt.

He could choose to sell them or publicly destroy them. Use this as a springboard to enter the Narrow Sea, sweep the opposing forces.

Now Lostra and Black Sail were as one in Mulong, and this stance could benefit the Narrow Sea too.

But Celeste wasn’t high enough as East Sea Commissioner. Ox hoped she would relay to her superiors to arrange meetings with Lostra’s Navy and the Pirate Kings with privateer certificates under them.

Meredith watched Moying thoughtfully. Liszt hadn’t met her yet; it was all part of the plan. Can’t let Liszt harm her.

She and her spouse had to handle it alone.

This filled Meredith with determination.

"Why are you barefoot?" Meredith struck up a conversation with Moying.

"This is arcane from the Transformation Series, as we naturally harmonize with elements, a bit of study allows us to perform it."

Moying didn’t mind and twirled around gracefully, but her real form was still a fish tail, which was sensitive.

Meredith suddenly understood why the mermaids she had seen before could walk too.

Having scissors helped.

Simultaneously.

In Drifting City.

Rein had already returned, but Liszt was on the front lines, Sharon couldn’t go, and he had to check on Pedan’s arcanist homeland.

After a while, he would also go to support the front lines.

"Someone’s looking for you." Rein called to Wolman and Celeste.

"Oh my Sky Net."

Wolman couldn’t get used to it; Rein saying he returned to protect John Connor made sense to him.
