Chapter 363: CCCLXIII. Main Tower
Chapter 363: CCCLXIII. Main Tower
Fen had obtained useful intelligence; it was necessary to visit that shipyard island.
At this point, Black Sail’s general strategy was quite clear, aiming to deal with all the messes before June, including the remnants of Doringger and surrounding external enemies, and to formally begin earning revenues.
The castle served as the final stronghold where all core personnel and troops would be stationed.
The Sea God was currently under repair and being modified to serve as the headquarters of the Black Sail Trading Company. According to Fen’s plan, the strategy was to first slowly nibble away at some of the smaller inland border countries, establishing footholds and implementing a suzerainty policy to generate income.
The shipyard island would serve as an arsenal as well as the second base. If Heaven Port were besieged, it could also open up a second front so that it wouldn’t collapse at the first wave.
"How shall we handle these three now?"
Ernie inquired of Fen.
Ox was currently recuperating. He trusted Ox and believed that Liszt would subsequently invest funds to channel back into Dead Man Bay and reopen trade between the Mirror Sea and the outside world.
After bringing benefits to the Mirror Sea, it would be possible to revive the Old Mirror Sea Alliance, or rather a new one. Admittedly, this would be fraught with difficulties, but only by doing so, by opening up new territories in the Mirror Sea, could the endless internal strife and killing be halted.
After pondering for a while, Fen decided that Mo’er must not be killed. The Sergeant, with an arm missing, posed limited threat, and although not as knowledgeable about Doringger as Mo’er, this remnant from the old regime still had a wealth of information that could be extracted.
"Keep an eye on these two men for now. As for that woman..." Fen looked at Chiyoda, "Technically, you could be considered a mercenary, working for anyone is all the same. We could employ you as a security consultant. However, there will be a probation period. What do you think? Of course, I would impose some restrictions, such as using Magic Technique to locate you at all times."
Black Sail was not short of people now, with plenty of allies. However, considering the forces dominating the East Sea, their own troops were relatively few.
"Do you mean ’hidden rules’? If you locate me, will you sneak in at night or something?"
Chiyoda was noncommittal.
"No, at least I won’t. I can’t speak for the others."
Fen was frank. He was not interested.
Half an hour later.
After handling affairs in the dungeon and applying the Magic that had once been used on himself to Chiyoda.
This woman was indeed wild. Coming out from the harsh conditions of the dungeon, she found a place to bathe. Afterwards, she showed no interest in dressing, as wrapping herself in a bandage for a top counted as quite civilized already.
Fen brought Chiyoda to the banquet hall on the tenth floor of the main city building to find Liszt, figuring that it was about time he finished talking with the female giant.
"How did the talk go?"
Fen scanned the environment in the hall, which even if placed in Pedan Capital, could still be considered top-tier in terms of decor.
"Not so good... Why is this woman out?"
Liszt looked at Chiyoda’s attire, and he realized that the powerful people around here, every single one of them, were perverts.
The white-haired woman’s attire couldn’t be called clothes; her top wasn’t even a proper bra, just bandages tied around, with both the northern and southern hemispheres partly exposed. The so-called shorts were too short for Liszt to even describe and made him deeply suspect they had been trimmed; otherwise, how could they be so short and risky? She also wore a pair of sandals.
"At a time when we need people, she also came over to consult with you."
Fen still needed Liszt to make the decision and not just let her go.
"Uh... Whatever you decide is fine." Liszt believed that as long as there was no mortal enmity, anyone could be used, and he didn’t mind these things, "But it might be best to bring her along when you’re pressing down in the East Sea, just to have her show some commitment."
No matter how much the responsibility had grown, some of the underlying logic remained unchanged. To join the crew, one either had to deposit a guarantee or take an Oath of Loyalty. It was her choice.
"What? I have to start working so soon?"
Chiyoda was completely resigned. What kind of black-hearted company was this?
"Talk less, do your job well. The way you’re dressed is indecent; we don’t want others thinking that all the women of Black Sail are brothel workers."
Liszt pondered for a moment, and then whispered, "In private, I have no problems with your attire—in fact, I might even encourage it."
When Mo Yutong finished creating the corporate culture uniforms and whatnot, everyone should try to dress formally. It wasn’t that Liszt wanted to indulge in the thrill of being a boss, but it was necessary to slowly standardize the average, blindly-wandering riffraff pirates into being regulated, professional, and disciplined through daily living habits such as dress and conduct. Otherwise, those who kill and create havoc under his name couldn’t be cleared of their actions even if they jumped into the East Sea. He needed to subtly instill the system into their hearts.
Chiyoda had streams of black lines fall down her forehead. Acting self-righteous again, huh? It’s not like she was an exhibitionist; she just felt comfortable dressing that way. It allowed her to sense the direction and strength of the wind at all moments, which made her Qi Gong Technique run most efficiently. It wasn’t that she was nitpicking over little details, it was just that Chiyoda had a bit of an obsessive-compulsive disorder.
"They said that the one you had a conversation with was a dragon... and just so happens that the person who specializes in identifying those from the Dragon Clan from the Holy Spirit Church was also there..."
Fen’s implication was quite clear.
"I’ve already taken care of it without your reminder. I had Caroso and his gang take a look. The results were intriguing to say the least. They said essentially it was a Magician’s creation, but it possesses characteristics of a True Dragon. Pretty mixed."
Liszt pondered that if he had indeed taken care of her, whether there would be reproductive isolation, that was a question.
"A Magic Technique creation with True Dragon characteristics... how did that come about? She claimed to be your friend."
"It’s from Iron Soul Island. Goddamn friend, I’ve been played for a fool. Most of the treasures on that island are in her possession. I have to make sure she ends up broke and powerless, both financially and physically."
What Liszt left unsaid was that in the evening, he would also need to give up Waterer.
Chiyoda listened with her eyes wide open in shock. Dragons... These people’s discussions didn’t sound like pirates at all. Even their scheme to take Doringger’s place seemed long-planned.
"I heard Ben mention that there’s something hidden on top of the Main Tower. What is it?"
Fen asked about what he was most interested in.
Liszt stood up, saying, "I was just about to tell you about that. Words alone can’t explain it clearly. I’ll take you to see it. Morison has been guarding it. I don’t trust anyone else; it must remain completely confidential."
Liszt got up; his body was still wrapped in bandages, and his skin continued to feel a burning sensation, probably needing another week or two to recover.
"Can I take a look?"
Chiyoda had been on the island for years, but what was inside the Tower was taboo according to Doringger. Apart from him and Saleret, as well as a very limited number of people, no one knew what it was.
"Of course, you can. What are you thinking? Anyway, you’re a war prisoner, so there’s no escaping for you. Now don’t say I’m cruel, I’ll take you upstairs with me. If you ever think of running away, I’ll just have to... ’reward the three armies’ with you."
Liszt spoke calmly.
"How many people exactly are in the three armies?"
Chiyoda asked a loaded question.
Fen’s eyelid twitched.
"You’re seriously considering it, you bastard. Let’s put it this way, a minimum of ten thousand."
Liszt threatened Chiyoda.
"Oh."
Chiyoda appeared nonchalant.
"Tsk, lift up your arm."
"Why?"
"Just do it."
Liszt commanded in a firm tone.
Chiyoda raised her arm. "And then?"
Liszt examined her armpits for a moment, then nodded. It seemed this woman indeed had a habit of grooming.
Fen had no time to watch Liszt and Chiyoda play their risqué games.
"Serious matters are more important."
Fen calmly interrupted Liszt, who was about to proceed further.
