Chapter 358: CCCLVIII. Super Large Luxury Manor
"My precious, you know I’m saying."
Ben started in an old British accent, then switched to West Coast slang halfway through.
Fen couldn’t believe this caveman had only been on the island for half a year and had leveled up so fast. If Rein’s combat power was ten thousand, his was at least three thousand.
"God damn Supreme Magic Ring..."
Fen was somewhat unable to keep up.
"You really do know. Anyway, that’s what Liszt has been chanting these past few days. It’s unbelievable. That kind of injury, he slept for a day and then was bouncing around like nothing happened. Dead Soldier, usually known as Little Liszt. If there’s nothing else, I need to handle something. I just had a go with that woman." Ben made no attempt to hide it as he adjusted his belt and bullet position, glanced around to see if anyone was near, and then whispered, "You know, sometimes it doesn’t get fully released, and some residue seeps out afterward."
Fen was stunned, having never encountered anyone quite this offensive; no wonder he was Diaz’s watchdog.
"Wait a minute, where’s Liszt?"
"I told you, he’s discussing business with a dragon, a big deal in a big vehicle, no, strictly speaking, it should be called an airplane, not even using fuel anymore, it’s fuel I can’t say, damn it."
Ben lit a cigar and started puffing on it, not inhaling, just letting it roll back and forth in his mouth, his teeth stained yellow with nicotine.
Fen summed up his conversation with this bird; he hadn’t found out anything.
"A dragon? Another one?"
"True to form, General Fen. The one they encountered on Iron Soul Island, you must have seen her, the woman who came in through the window that day, said she was Liszt’s friend, came to check the situation."
"I’m really fucked."
Fen cursed out loud, his anxiety growing as things were not entirely under his control, and now another dragon had popped up, what was going on? The Holy Spirit Church’s assessment of Fafna was not simply as a magician’s creation; there was more to it.
"I really need to deal with this, it’s so uncomfortable..."
"Where exactly is Liszt, then?"
"I don’t know."
Ben had already closed the door, and locked it, then an eerie tune came through, "Meeting her like spring water reflecting pear blossoms—my sword severing the horizon—crazy NTR, in dreams I’m fully insured—the big hang-up."
Fen’s head throbbed with pain; having been unconscious for three days, he suddenly felt starving, his stomach twisting in agony. But he had to find Liszt first.
He started wandering around the castle, exploring the grand manor that was now all owned by Black Sail.
The central building complex of the castle included a main city building and two secondary towers, immense in size, with some lower buildings artfully connecting their bases. High up, arch bridges facilitated movement, the solemn and august pure white walls, with the low buildings’ ridges connecting to flying rib arches and spires. The exterior was rich with elaborate stone carvings, and vertical grooves in Roman Pillars as porticos.
Extremely impressive, it would kill to live there.
And this was only the tip of the iceberg for the castle.
Vast pastures and large stables; not just for horses, but Magic Beasts or even a dragon could be housed, albeit not too large of a dragon.
The Forge Workshop was also immensely large; during the Emperor’s eastern campaigns, equipment was transported by a single click, and every strike could send one to Hell, all forged here.
There was also a Training Ground; with naval exploration, military training had modernized, obstacle races, special climbing training on rock walls, and very comprehensive accompanying facilities.
Beyond that, there was still a vast area.
The excellently maintained gardens and courtyards competing in beauty housed tranquil and remote pavilions and walkways, specially artistically-shaped trees trimmed with great elegance by gardeners, a large artificial lake with clear, cool water, supplemented by some scattered artificial hills, where people could go boating to fish, mostly ornamental fish, just for fun.
The surroundings were almost excessively privileged.
Doringger, a true tycoon from a heritage of tycoons.
Not even dukes should meddle, this was the standard for Royal relatives, Liszt had jumped up to become the Little Emperor of the East Sea, Boss of Heaven Port.
Fen strolled along the pavilion walkways, indeed a place of strategical significance. There weren’t many people inside the castle, just a few familiar faces scattered around, mostly pirates who were already working with Black Sail, from Londen City, Yunxi City, who had followed all the way here. Fen also spotted a one-eyed man with pale golden hair, surprisingly, the guy wasn’t dead yet.
"General Manager."
The One-eyed Dragon straightened up, his ponytail neatly tied back, suited up, and a briefcase in hand, those who knew him knew he was a murderer, those who didn’t would think he was a legal elite.
The One-eyed Dragon was an adept dancer in the social sphere, he had devised the perfect interpersonal tactics for himself, which he called "Filial Son Diplomacy." Once he played the obedient son, licking up to the leaders was the foolproof way. Now, he had licked his way into becoming one of Black Sail’s HR managers, enjoying an enviable status.
Originally, when he was brought to Black Sail by a broker in Londen City, his subordinates were against it, because in these times, every broker was shady and believed to be unreliable. But now they knew just how right the One-eyed Dragon was.
"It was you... tell me about what happened in the past two days."
Fen asked him to summarize the key points.
The One-eyed Dragon had so many tricks up his sleeve. In these early stages of development, he kept an eye on everything, aspiring to become the highest part of management outside the board of directors.
He knew not to speak without knowledge.
After the war had ended, Black Sail had immediately taken over the castle to regroup, to prevent external forces from exploiting their weaknesses, and were also preparing to suppress the Remnant Party of Doringger within the East Sea. They had already dispatched eight ships to four fishing islands, giving reassurance to Qi Liwenkui and others, and pressuring Doringger’s Remnant Party not to resist stubbornly.
Due to Black Sail’s rapid rise, they lacked a management system suitable for their operations, and even if they temporarily concocted some rules now, they couldn’t implement them effectively.
Li Si didn’t care about other places, only on Heaven Port island where he established three rules.
Which means the three articles, could the ancestors deceive themselves?
On Heaven Port, murderers face death, assailants compensate for crimes, and theft also gets punished.
In short, only Black Sail could kill. Others wishing to kill couldn’t.
This meant that Li Si was offering free protection to everyone on the island—Heaven Port’s boss, the main handle.
They also designated the castle as a special area to serve as the management center, accessible only to Black Sail personnel, others wanting entry needed to make an appointment in advance.
The One-eyed Dragon continued to ponder if there were any other important matters. The last point was work-for-relief. Having just become the Boss, he definitely needed to distribute benefits, because the recent war had severely damaged the buildings, roads, and facilities on the island.
Many who had taken refuge in the woods came back to find their homes gone, damn.
To compensate these "disaster victims," Li Si initiated a "New Heavenly Port Revitalization New District Plan."
"I give you 150% of market salary, plus three meals a day."
Li Si planned to build Khrushchev buildings! In the outer city, those doomsday wasteland self-built houses—damn, stop all that; they were mostly ruined, demolish them all and build skyscrapers.
Those employed for a full year would, apart from their wages, receive an apartment.
Now, they were still in the early stages of clearing the debris, no need for architects yet.
In any case, the name of New Heavenly Port was now officially established.
The One-eyed Dragon couldn’t think of anything else for the moment and conveyed these points to Fen.
"New Heavenly Port Revitalization New District Plan?"
Fen’s head ached, listening to the extremely crude clauses, these decisions seemed to be made on the whim—are they seriously offering apartments after a year’s work? 1.5 times the market salary?
They must have lost their minds.
The reality was...
Black Sail was going bankrupt; in this period, forty thousand Golden Dragons were spent, and considering subsequent expenses, it was a complete deficit. Did these guys ever do the math? Randomly giving out benefits?
"Do you know where Li Si is?"
"In the main city building, he’s been there discussing things these past few days, hasn’t had any downtime."
"Take me there."
