Chapter 340: CCCXL. Break City
Chapter 340: CCCXL. Break City
Taylor and Plank, along with their many valiant followers and the army, were all clad in steel armor. Claude personally trained an army equipped with Reggae Defense weapons, as well as Wolman’s Sub-dragon people army.
They were currently on the main road countering Horace and the Captain of the Dead Lord.
The battle line had been breached and had descended into chaos.
In Doringger’s ranks, all were elite personnel; there were no soldiers without iron armor.
The Sub-dragon people of the second legion also had very high individual fighting qualities, having long understood how to rely on life... to most efficiently stack these armored soldiers through many years of warfare against stronger foes in Aran.
These Sub-dragon people only wore leather armor, but they all wielded armor-breaking war hammers.
After all, these people were trained by pirates, not Aran’s regular army. Two Sub-dragon people, boosted by the will to restore their nation, could smash a rigid-armored soldier and his armor inward.
Overflowing blood plasma, the soil stained red, shouts and screams shaking the heavens.
The most difficult to deal with were the directly charging heavy cavalry; their armor was even mixed with Magic Energy Material, wherever they tread, they pierced with riding spears or cleaved into two with great swords.
Even equipped with fine Magic Energy Weapons purchased from Reggae Defense, they lacked methods to counter the heavy cavalry that broke into the lines and began slaughtering indiscriminately.
Killing darkened the sky and obscured the sun, and even at noon, the pervasive gunsmoke and flying dust stirred up blurring flesh and icy iron.
The Chimera had all been slaughtered by Yiremu, who seemed bodiless, torn by huge mouths, struck by muskets, chopped into segments by swords, and his mysterious Gu Poison Witchcraft spread snakes and reptiles from his hands and feet, madly burrowing and biting.
Just as they were preparing to assist Haywood and Claude.
Boom!
The explosion was like the sky splitting and the earth breaking, the waves pushed aside; six streams of silvery-white Magic Energy beams blasted again towards the fortress, overwhelming and irresistible.
The array left by the Emperor still protected the castle but was also on the verge of collapse, its honeycomb-shaped crimson light shield growing dimmer.
Plans can never keep up with changes.
Although Doringger dared to counterattack, he still did not see Mo’er nor the guests that Ben mentioned; Doringger did not take to the field, holed up inside the fortress.
They adjusted the positions of six Magic Ship Cannons on the coast, to prevent the magic energy cannons from being turned around in case of breakthroughs at the rear.
Liszt ordered Fen to spare no expense, ideally to deplete all the Demon Crystal reserves in the Sea God, leaving only three volleys for firing at enemies trying to approach the coast.
The ground trembled slightly due to that power; a single volley was five hundred Golden Dragons.
Liszt and his special attack squad had penetrated deep into the Inner City, arriving at...
The Black Sail Inn’s location.
They had already entered the range of Doringger Castle’s fortress cannons, but this place was void of strong military presence, with only scattered sentinels, no match for these men.
"Keep firing until that protection array is completely destroyed,"
Liszt said to Fen’s Spiritual Body.
Doringger was not showing up, no one knew what he was holding back; on the coast, Fen had the Netherworld Stele, Ox had many Merfolk heroes, and there was the man known as the Mirror Sea Sword King, the former Swordsmen of Mirror Sea Ernie in his old age, his might undiminished.
Boom! Boom!
The power of the Sea God Ship Cannon was terrifyingly immense, even within the Inner City at the foothills of the castle mountain. The long rainbow across the sky stirred up winds strong enough to blow people over, and flying gravel could leave bloody marks on the body.
All the glass in the Inner City clanged, and the loosely fixed structures of windows and door frames seemed about to crack open.
Humming...
Morison’s Arm Armor scraped out a massive amount of sparks, the vibrations of Maple Forest unstoppable.
Celeste knew this was the weapon used by those damned invaders and murderers from the Aran Energy Department.
Ben was terrified, thinking it would be fatal if they ended up blasting away the main tower’s contents; then Liszt would become a historical poisoner eternally condemned.
A group hid in the back alley of the Undead Hotel, also evading the aftermath of the Magic Ship Cannon.
Boom! Boom!
Again, six ship cannons thundered.
The glass windows of the Undead Hotel were all shattered, and the interior decor was also shaking, some items being shaken off the table surfaces.
"What are you doing carrying so many weapons?"
While waiting for the next salvo, Celeste caught sight of the disfigured face for the first time and felt that this person was somewhat unreliable, flashy.
Specialization is the optimal solution; people do not have enough energy to master everything.
"Just like Diablo, there are only so many slots in your backpack; not filling them up is wasteful, getting rolled over repetitively from front to back."
Morison spoke in a foreign language.
Celeste couldn’t understand at all.
Bang! Bang!
The castle’s defensive array had become extremely dim.
As the commander overseeing the first line of defense at Doringger, Mo’er also realized that he had to let these guys in.
Doringger’s audacity.
The items in the tower were entrusted by Doringger to one of his most valued subordinates.
The Golden-eyed Demon Hunter, a traitor from the Life Weaving Society, had unfortunately disappeared without a trace.
The other was Ghost Eye Mad Blade, who held a relative’s handle and let him oversee without defenses even if there were intentions of betrayal.
Taking the risk of being discovered, Doringger allowed the castle to be empty as bait to get Liszt’s main forces in, presumably to reclaim the Sea God soon.
Doringger believed that even if discovered, it would be fine; killing all those in the know would settle things.
Only Doringger could control... God.
Bang!
Another round was fired.
Reserves in Sea God were running low, but a portion had to be preserved to deal with the crisis on the coast.
Six silver-white Magic Energy beams, four of which were still blocked by the honeycomb prismatic light shield, although dim, two ship cannons destroyed the city wall with devastating force, creating a huge breach and even burning through a secondary tower and the ironwork workshop, creating huge pits spanning several walls.
Liszt and his companions did not hesitate for a moment and headed for Doringger’s castle, to the northern part of the inner city, across a forest, through the breach, and directly into the castle.
Their speed was extremely fast, crossing street after street.
But Mo’er would not grant them this opportunity.
Liszt and the others hadn’t left the inner city.
The castle guard team had already mobilized.
Now all Mo’er needed to do was hold out and give Doringger enough time to completely break through the rear.
The captrain of the guard team, selected from the most elite individuals of the East Sea region, had strength rivaling that of the Captain of the Dead Lord.
Leading three hundred elite troops, they emerged from the castle breach to the commercial street on the northern edge of the inner city and completely blocked Liszt and his group.
Celeste and Morison were ready to go on a killing spree; Caruso Weber and others were prepared for battle.
To buy time, of course, they would drag it out as long as possible.
The group was surrounded by three hundred people, trapped tightly.
"You..."
Before the leading guard captain could finish,
The stones beneath Liszt’s feet splintered into a cone, and he was already in front of an enemy, his hand pressing on the head, fingers grasping the crown, and the vivid red ghost shadow clenched between the fingers instantly shattered the head into pieces.
He no longer needed to summon the Junlin Sword from his palm; with a lift of his left hand, a surging black ghost shadow coalesced, crossing over from the void and it was not a blade but the Curse Power Sword Intent, the ghost shadow overwhelming.
With the might of a single slash,
More than ten men were cut in half at the waist, a flash of blood, their contents violently sprayed and poured out.
In an instant, the formation was broken, blood spread across the ground, tearing open a breach in the encirclement.
"I can handle this alone, you go ahead. I’ll catch up in two minutes."
Liszt said calmly.
Celeste’s gaze was somewhat dazed, and she nodded, realizing there genuinely was someone in the world who remained unharmed by this sword.
