Chapter 333: CCCXXXIII. Reign

Chapter 333: CCCXXXIII. Reign

As the magic energy devices ceased their deep roar, the mist swirling around the ship was occasionally swept away by the sea breeze.

And then, the deity within the ship, shaped like a shuttle with hundreds of elegantly arrayed sails, was revealed.

The Sea God had stopped three sea miles away from Heaven Port, at Anchor Bay. The array of sails was retracted like a white rose folding in reverse. Accompanied by the clanking and screeching of machinery, eight gigantic anchors, each weighing hundreds of tons, sank into the sea through alchemically forged chains from both sides of the ship, halting the massive vessel, stirring up huge waves, and creating a fearsome spectacle.

Both the outer and inner cities of Heaven Port were attracted by this tsunami-like disturbance. Everyone went up to the rooftops or looked through the windows to observe the commotion at the dock, all deeply moved by this extraordinary sight.

Because of the recent political situation, many on the island had already fled to Iron Soul Island to seek refuge, knowing that a great battle was imminent. However, a small portion of stubborn people remained. Besides the port, more than ninety percent of Heaven Port’s island was undeveloped jungle with no value. When the time came, they could simply hide there.

But now, facing a battle of this scale, even the stubborn ones couldn’t resist the fear of being caught in the aftermath. They immediately gathered dry food, belongings, and wealth, and fled to the woods to hide.

At the very front of the Sea God’s hull.

The Black Sail crew was all there, except for Liszt.

"Damn it, I don’t know how to lose!"

Rein could already imagine his life in the castle with pools of wine and a thousand Furry maidens attending to him, his left arm fitted with a temporary iron hook.

Ox stood at the ready, waiting for Liszt to come out and give orders.

"You don’t need to go. The last battle was hard enough, and it would be wrong to trouble you old folks again,"

Ox said to an older Merfolk at his side, slightly hunchbacked with light gray skin.

"There’s nothing hard about it. The captain and vice-captain of this ship, even though they are outstanding among men like Dragons among humans, are but an easy task for me. I still have some strength left for one more battle, for the Pan East Sea Theory..."

This Merfolk wore a hat that obscured his face. Like all Merfolk, he wore sailors’ trousers, and not only were his back fins empty, but his elbows and legs also lacked the pointed fins. One of his legs had an old wound, which made him limp as he walked.

Because of the "Pan East Sea Theory", all individuals associated with the ancient heroes of the past wars had been suppressed and purged by the Mirror Sea. This Merfolk was one of Ox’s friends and had been hiding in Dead Man Bay since the incident, avoiding the purges and keeping out of world affairs. But seeing Ox return, he began to think about coming out of hiding.

Liszt also supported the "Pan East Sea Theory". Since the Merfolk were not suited to these waters, the environment could be improved. The Mirror Sea was as clear as a mirror due to some magic, so they just needed to find a way. Once successful, they could carve out a piece of the sea for the Merfolk to inhabit.

The status of this Merfolk could be said to resemble the Sword King of the Mirror Sea.

The number one expert of Dead Man Bay was not one of Pawel’s men but this elder.

At his waist hung a Soft Sword called "Water Avoidance," so sharp that even water seemed to shy away from it.

"Big brother, when do we go ashore?"

"Pawel is afraid of Doringger, but we aren’t."

"Let’s chop up Doringger quickly, the crap boss. Every time the envoy comes, Pawel is all servile like a dog. I’ve been sick of it for a long time."

On the deck, there was also a large group of Merfolk warriors, all muscular and tattooed with dragons and tigers. Ox, resting his hand on the handle of his Special Large Sword, stood at the bow, his enormous height emanating a fearsome presence.

Shadi sensed something in the air and waited for Ox’s reply.

"No rush, wait for Liszt to come out."

Ox knew well that as long as Liszt was alive, the backbone of Black Sail remained intact. With his reputation in the underworld, no one could stand against them; they could only join in the grand event.

Mika scrutinized the ship closely. Despite the long time spent on this behemoth, he hadn’t fully understood it. At the forefront of the Sea God Ship’s prow, the statue of "Wave and Storm Saint Spirit" was excessively large, like a platform, giving him an ominous premonition.

And at the stern of the deck, the sea breeze whistled.

It was not yet summer, but already midway through spring.

Liszt’s hair, which hadn’t been cut for too long, had grown rapidly while he was unconscious, now reaching below his ears. It was messy and unwashed, and his white shirt was unbuttoned, with bandages still wrapped around his chest and abdomen.

He looked calmly at Heaven Port, knowing it was time to make a decision.

But before that, there were some matters to deal with.

Serene and her companions were obviously more than a simple Gold-level Adventure Group.

As members of the Dragon Seeking Team, she carried powerful Curse Artifacts that hindered dragons, not just one but several, capable of withstanding the Breath of an adult dragon three times. They also had the Spider Silk Magic Net, the pinnacle of Lostra’s craftsmanship, which would burst forth from a metal round box and could immobilize even an adult dragon for a short time.

To stop the Golden-eyed Demon Hunter, who was no longer human, they had to use items intended for dragons against the Demon Hunter, giving them a chance to breathe.

Haywood, unaware of the origin of these artifacts, realized this was no longer an issue that could be glossed over with union assessments.

Only in a desperate situation did Serene have to use them.

"Your purpose..."

Liszt pondered for a while, for regardless of Serene’s intentions, they were now bound by life-and-death relations, and she was fighting for reasons of her own, but always at their side, dancing with the danger of life and death.

"I’ve said it before, I will protect you back to Heaven Port, and now I am an employee of your company, am I not?"

Serene had also lost two intelligence officers, but without them fighting alongside him, all of the days of effort would have been in vain.

"Is it so... This isn’t your fight, you can leave now, take all your people with you, including those in Heaven Port. If you encounter any difficulties in the future, there will be a place for you here."

Liszt tactfully issued a dismissal, and even though he did not know their exact identities, these people were surely state government officials. Any delayed decisions could breed chaos.

"The things we snatched from Beima East Coast are a burden, no one is willing to let such individuals fight, nor would we hand them over to anyone."

Liszt was making it clear he wanted Serene and her people to leave, and he was also ready to offer a sizeable sum of money.

"You are different from other pirates."

Serene laughed lightly, unconcerned, never having seen pirates loyal to their ships. Her gaze swept over the ships now drawing closer.

The commotion of the Sea God was simply too loud, and the spirits of the Black Sail crew on the island were stretched taut, with dozens of ships having departed the harbour, moving toward the Sea God, worried about potential enemies.

However, the signalman on the Sea God had already indicated the situation through flag signals.

Serene leisurely took out her telescope and observed those leading the ships; apart from a few core members of Black Sail, there were also notorious Pirate Gangs from the East Sea.

Even as he was half-dead, doing nothing, the entire East Sea was operating according to his Will.

"Damn it, stop beating around the bush, just tell me if you’re going or staying."

"There are no eternal enemies, only eternal interests. From what I’ve gathered, we have room for cooperation, you are a man of courage."

"Courage... bollocks, if you’re not leaving, then... let’s go to Hell together."

Liszt no longer wasted words, his expression turned cold as he made his way to the very front of the ship’s bow.

Following the Sea God were more than ten large passenger ships.

Doringger’s military garrison island, his myriad allies from all walks of life, and the four million Gold Dragons budget allocated by Black Sail for pirate mercenaries, the two sides clashed, staining the East Sea a crimson Purgatory.

It was under the protection of the Sea God that these ships could make it through this meat grinder to Heaven Port.

These people were not good at naval battles.

Hened’s many compatriots from Hell, the many "brothers" Liszt had recognized in the Northern Realm.

The Seventh Amendment, the Cangshan Tobacco Company, and other inland powers, secondary in gratitude for the saving of their lives, but principally for immense profit.

Naturally, not all the combat strength could come, but their presence was sufficient to show respect. Even if an individual didn’t arrive, his trusted confidants and skilled subordinates did, all there to bolster the ranks.

The entire atmosphere near Heaven Port was majestic, an overwhelming sight, as if sovereignty itself was present.

Even without doing anything, his thoughts touched everything, and all things naturally moved with them.

Invisible forces were termed ghost gods, tangible forces, kings.
