Chapter 313: CCCXIII. Yuri’s Revenge

In the dim underground palace.

With Garscek clapping her hands together, all the torches on the surrounding walls were lit, burning with vigorous flames, providing ample illumination.

It was only then that Celeste noticed something astonishing about the two swords Liszt carried—they were identical to the legendary Junlin Sword in every aspect. She knew this so clearly because in the higher echelons of the intelligence agency, a member had one in their family’s collection as well.

She watched as Liszt slowly stepped forward, roughly guessing what he was thinking.

Haywood realized Liszt was about to bow, but shook his head at him, gesturing for him not to do that. The Mad Dragon was fickle, having previously displayed a proud and unruly attitude, and now she sat on the armrest of the stone chair like a hooligan.

Her mood swings were unpredictable, beyond comprehension.

It would be best to chop her down herself, and if not possible, at least she wouldn’t die. Liszt could run away; there was no need to approach and make contact with her.

Liszt did not distrust Haywood, but the woman’s performative nature was too exaggerated. He couldn’t attack forcefully; he had to outwit her.

He walked slowly to the stone chair and also got a clear view of Garscek’s true face.

Her humanoid form was quite tall, at two meters and twenty centimeters, without a piece of cloth hanging on her body. Instead, from the neck down, she was covered in black Scale Armor that was very textured and wonderfully curved.

Because she had used the Dragon Roar, some hidden traits were also revealed—an intense energy fluctuation emanated from the black Dragon Horn, along with Dragon Scales beneath her eyes, dark purple hair, and eyes that were not quite purple but rather a luminous violet gleaming amidst blackness.

"Ts."

Garscek truly wanted to kill someone now because this scar-faced man showed no manners at all. Even if one didn’t kneel, at least presenting with both hands was expected.

"Don’t make me angry."

Garscek found his words incomprehensible.

"These two swords reside within my body and cannot be detached from me. If you want to admire them, you can only do so like this."

Liszt presented the Junlin Sword with the blood-red hilt in front of his chest, careful not to point the blade towards her, as that would suggest he had intentions to attack—a delightful thought that she might reach out to touch it and seal her fate.

Garscek intended to say that as long as he died, she could simply have that shamelessly dressed woman present it to her.

She had connections under Engma’s rule, having been on good terms with a high-ranking official in the Royal Court, who was extremely loyal to Engma. If she killed this man who might be Engma’s descendant, it wouldn’t be good.

Garscek stood up from the armrest and moved close to Liszt, walking back and forth to observe the Junlin Sword. However, she couldn’t make sense of it and was about to reach out to touch it.

A thought crossed Liszt’s mind—success.

Her hand, covered in black scales with nails sharp as steel claws, was about to touch the sword blade but then withdrew.

She instinctively sensed a threat and turned to sit back in her stone chair.

Liszt: "..."

The man who had come earlier warned Garscek about something—soon, a person named Liszt might come looking for her, advising her to be cautious in his guise as a friend.

She and Doringger had already made a deal. If it was anything ordinary, she wouldn’t be interested, but this matter was related to events from two thousand years ago.

Garscek was also pursuing the secret history of that period.

"You’re Liszt, right?"

She asked calmly.

Hmm?

Liszt was profoundly shaken.

Garscek had originally planned on offhandedly taking care of Liszt for his business partners, as if it were a mere gesture of kindness. These two were in a competitive relationship, and compared to the former, Liszt’s presence was far less imposing, more akin to a street thug, nothing more than a piece of meat ripe for the cutting.

"Has someone named Doringger been here?"

At this question, Liszt truly harbored murderous intent. If Doringger had struck a deal with this carriage, failing to eliminate him now would surely lead to future trouble.

Over the years, they had developed an unspoken understanding. The crimson quicksand surged like a river, and in the blink of an eye, Haywood arrived by Liszt’s side, ready for joint combat.

Celeste hesitated for a moment, not stepping forward but preparing to provide long-range support with her Magic Technique.

Garscek furrowed his brow, visibly annoyed. Liszt lacked the oppressive force that would justify such aggression.

"What Doringger can offer you, I can offer too. What he can’t, I still can. In my hands, I not only have a young dragon but also the Netherworld Stele. My power in the East Sea has become unstoppable and siding with those doomed to fail is not a wise choice."

Liszt seemed to transform into another person, sporting a terrifying expression and speaking decisively, as though stating indisputable facts.

At that moment, Celeste was completely taken aback.

The fact about the dragon had already slipped from his lips and been verified.

Netherworld Stele?

It all connected, everything was linked.

Before her arrival, Celeste had done her homework on Black Sail and knew that the Thief Guild had plants within their ranks. Just half a year ago on the East Shore of Beima Duchy, the Thief Guild had been tracking down a traitor named Swan. And recently, there had been talk of the Thief Guild’s treasury being robbed and comprehensive sanctions being planned against Black Sail.

Only now did she realize what had been stolen—it was the Netherworld Stele!

Such an artifact was known to Celeste only as something Lostra, one of the eleven peak figures in the Warlock Council, had a small piece of, hidden away so thoroughly only allies in a tight circle knew of it. This magician was also loyal to the reigning Monarch, and Celeste was a member of this faction, even when other senior officials inside the organization were kept in the dark.

And this stele was considered one of the strongest trump cards by the Tower Master and even the Monarch themselves.

The leader of the Triad Gang in the East Sea actually had such an object in his possession.

Garscek too was taken aback by Liszt.

Of course.

One should not speak solely of interests; pragmatists only fall into the pitfall of pragmatism.

For a moment, Liszt, a mere mortal, stepped forward, laying his hand on the back of the stone chair, his aura unexpectedly overwhelming the so-called descendant of the World Devourer.

"Staying on this broken island, defending a corner of land is meaningless. The outside world has turned upside down — steam trains, ironclad warships, industry. Have you heard of these words? Not just the Western Continent; every place in the world is undergoing unprecedented changes." Liszt paused for a moment, "And I am the one leading this innovation. Given those wings of yours, I presume they’re not meant for hiding away in this underground palace. Gold isn’t meant to be used like this either. Hand it over to me, and I’ll take you to conquer the Four Seas, to gallop across the world."

The descendant of the World Devourer was cornered by Liszt.

Haywood was profoundly shocked. There he was, Yuri, commonly known as Little Liszt, questioning whether mind control would work.

Celeste was somewhat dumbfounded; the scar-faced man truly enjoyed dancing on the edge of life and death.

Yet, Garscek’s reply was unexpected.

Being so close, much like the Blood Clan could discern the aura of life, Garscek too could discern.

"You’re not a descendant of Engma, not even from the Western Continent’s people. Who are you?"

Garscek couldn’t quite put a finger on this person’s aura.

Liszt leaned in close to her ear and whispered softly, "Broadly speaking, perhaps I’m like you, from the heavens. But strictly speaking, I am actually... an extraterrestrial."

Haywood was stunned. Did extraterrestrials refer to themselves as extraterrestrials?
