Black Sail
Chapter 283: CCLXXXIII. Lost Soul of the East Sea

Chapter 283: CCLXXXIII. Lost Soul of the East Sea

The deck of the escort ship was a blur of flesh and blood, mixed with plenty of dull, dark sand that had already lost its fresh red sheen.

Seeing the reinforcements from the Black Sail crew arrive, roughly twenty people boarded the deck, Gawain and Weber were also distinctly among them.

Captain Sky Peak was nearly exhausted, merely forcing himself to stand his ground against the monster.

His expression was somewhat fierce, with injuries from bone spurs and cuts from the high-pressure abrasive quicksand, and his backbone team also felt that the situation was dire—a monster already weary from battle, and how could the Black Sail be easy to deal with?

Necromancers, disfigured faces, Merfolk, Black Lizards...

With these people here, how could they be held off?

"Haywood, get up."

Wolman was profoundly shocked, it was over, they had won lying down.

"Not just standing up, but he went to the heavens, damn."

Shadi couldn’t believe it, but this was better, after all the various operations by Liszt, one could indeed vividly feel that the Black Sail had expanded to an exaggerated scale within this half-year.

"You go down and see how Flado and the others are!"

Captain Sky Peak shouted to the Leopard Man Scythe User.

Only the wise can recognize the situation.

There were now two options: the first was to stubbornly fight and get his whole gang killed, as they were already in a hopeless scenario without any suspense—that was the worst strategy. The second was to threaten these people with Taylor’s life—that was the best strategy.

Having no choice, he had to resort to the middle strategy.

However, he had underestimated Taylor and his bodyguards. The reason the escort ship had ceased cannon fire was because Taylor and his bodyguards had already killed the First Officer of the Sky Peak Pirate Group and taken control of the gun deck below.

At this moment,

Taylor and his crew had come upon the deck via the passageway staircase, with Taylor himself sporting a knife wound on his shoulder, though it was not serious. However, with the loss of two bodyguards, there had been a cost.

Meanwhile, Flado, held at knife-point by one of Taylor’s bodyguards, looked dispirited and extremely conflicted, his lips a ghastly pale color.

Seeing that Taylor was still lively, Liszt breathed a sigh of relief.

Taylor felt similarly, finding it strange that he had expected to die today, killed under the pretext of inspecting a new ship—a seamless plan where theoretically no reinforcements would arrive, yet surprisingly, someone did.

Captain Sky Peak put down his War Axe and raised his hands in surrender, knowing there was no point in fighting any longer.

"I request negotiations."

He was a tough character, retaining his rationality.

"Negotiate my ass."

Liszt didn’t care about that as he took out his firearm, ready to give him a quick end.

"Don’t you respect the Pirate Bill?"

Captain Sky Peak spoke calmly, articulating clearly.

Liszt fell silent. The Pirate Bill was a set of golden rules left behind by the Old Cannons hundred and ten years ago, with many stipulations designed for the benefit of the entire pirate community, blessing future generations.

No matter when, if two pirate groups encountered each other and one requested negotiations, the other could not refuse.

But that was a tale from the old times; nowadays, no one cared for such things.

"You have the floor."

Liszt lit a cigarette and took a drag, with Flado captured and Captain Sky Peak aware of his defeat, they were like fish in a jar, with no suspense remaining.

"We don’t have a deep-seated hatred between us, and you’ve caught Flado. So, here’s the deal—we admit defeat. Give us four people a small boat, and we will never return to Heaven Port. What do you think? We’ll leave things at that, and I can also give you some information on Doringger."

Captain Sky Peak made his judgment.

"Doesn’t look good, buddy. You should have plenty of core members on your ship, right? A few got killed by this guy, who knows if they’ll come back for revenge?"

Liszt pointed at Haywood, unwilling to let Captain Sky Peak go, Doringger cryptic within himself, these people died here, and he had no say, not daring to confront head-on.

"Cut the grass, remove the roots."

Swan was always merciless in making important decisions and had already drawn his weapon.

Morison also pulled out a Flying Knife, ready to crack some skulls.

The rest looked fierce and malevolent, except for Fafna, who was taking deep breaths as if adjusting to the situation. Wind Breath Canyon and the secret port had left shadows on her, and under Caroso’s guidance, she understood her own special identity and the need to grow.

Captain Sky Peak’s gaze swept the circle of people around him, surrounded and with the red-skinned creature still having fight left in him, it was certain death.

"Death is nothing to fear. At least we, the Sky Peak Pirate Group, will kill one last time! And take a few with us."

The Scythe User had a fierce countenance and was ready to face death, and the remaining two Sky Peak core members were also prepared to die.

The glimmering sea shone somewhat dazzlingly, and a breeze blew over the deck that was hell itself.

Captain Sky Peak came to a decision.

On this corner of the East Sea, who wasn’t a desperate fugitive?

"All right!"

Captain Sky Peak gave a cold command, having made his decision, picked up a short sword, and gripped it tightly in his hand. He had used Life Alchemy and had already reduced his lifespan substantially, his fingertips also trembling subtly, he was a follower of the Holy Spirit Sect. It is said that brave souls would enter the Holy Spirit Temple after death to drink immortal wine with all the heroes of history, eternal and undying, whether it actually exists or not, only by seeing for oneself.

"So that’s how it is, I understand now. There’s always a price to pay when you’ve led the life we have, and frankly, I’m tired of it anyway. I will end myself here, and no one will come seeking vengeance on you. These three will do the same. Liszt, they say you’re an honorable man, I’m not convinced. Are you a villain or a true man? Only you know."

Crack!

Captain Sky Peak plunged the short sword into his chest without hesitation, and the blood gushed out.

Everyone present was shocked by such ruthless resolve, and Violet, who had just arrived in Heaven Port, was rendered speechless. These people were too horrifying.

And Gawain had already seen how Liszt and others risk their lives, but in such a moment, he couldn’t help being somewhat shocked.

The Scythe User rushed forward to stop him, but was knocked to the side by the Captain’s last burst of strength.

A ripping sound shocked the senses.

The blood surged wildly; Captain Sky Peak’s gaze had already lost focus, and he fell to his knees weakly, then slumped dead on the ground, completely devoid of life signs.

The Tiger-man Scythe Hand wanted to continue fighting but was held back by his Magician companion, not to let the Captain’s death be in vain. The Magician only watched Liszt quietly.

"Let them go."

Liszt had nothing to say.

"What?"

Swan couldn’t believe it.

Fen leaned close to Liszt and whispered, "Don’t be stupid."

Fen thought Liszt was messing things up again, following the secret port incident, and the previous going alone to meet the enemy, though those turned out alright, that was because Liszt was lucky. This was the third mess-up, the frequency was increasing.

"Let them go. Whether they continue to mix up with Doringger or come seeking revenge, it doesn’t matter. This is a Captain’s order, and no one is permitted to stop them."

Liszt, just like at the secret port, invoked the authority of the Captain’s orders.

Since it was the order of the highest decision-maker of Black Sail, even if it was a mess, no one dared to argue. From Londen City to now, Black Sail had reached its climate under Liszt’s leadership.

From an internal stance, Liszt’s power had peaked, his word was law.

Even if it was wrong, it had to be executed.
