Chapter 244: CCXLIV. New Year Gift
Mika was in high spirits after a few drinks, his face flushed and his ears throbbing, as he talked about the crazy sh*t Liszt had pulled off.
The struggle of starting up Black Sail.
The back-alley clinic didn’t last long before it got busted.
Back then, it was just Mika and Liszt being forced into the game, dirt poor, brainstorming ways to make some cash.
What industry makes the most money? Naturally manufacturing, the manufacturing industry rakes in the dough.
So what’s the most valuable thing to produce?
Of course, making money is the most valuable.
Liszt had a brainwave, "Let’s print counterfeit bills! Lostra uses paper money, so we’ll specialize in that. Then we’ll wholesale them to folks who need the fake stuff, exchanging it for the real deal."
For a while, life really did get cushy. Mika even thought Liszt was some kind of highbrow genius, a true intellectual, despite the fact that he could barely read. It was almost cultural, the way he crafted counterfeits so damn convincingly. You could use them at night without anyone catching on.
But, as expected, the unforeseen happened.
At that time, the little country they were in was an Affiliated Country of Lostra. Those sheriffs weren’t just for show; they had some damn good detective methods. They discovered someone was messing with ink, cotton fibers, and printing tools. They tailed them back to the counterfeiting operation and caught them red-handed.
Liszt was a man of talent too. He drew his gun straight out, "You make what, a few hundred a month? Not even thirty silver coins. Why the hell throw your life away for that? Here, take a box each, man. The mountains remain unchanged; the rivers flow forever. Till we meet again if fate allows it."
"And guess what? Those two sheriffs actually had some balls. They went all in and their guns blazed."
Mika lifted his shirt, revealing a bullet wound on his belly. That’s when he got shot.
Even Fen couldn’t help but crack. Being an old sailor himself, he’d never heard such stories.
"How the hell did you two end up from Lostra to the Southern Continent?"
Shadi looked completely clueless. These two cavemen really knew how to run.
"Liszt... hooked up with a noble’s daughter who was heading to Southern Country for a vacation. Hitched a ride on the ship over, and even got in on a scam. If it weren’t for being found out as fugitives, Liszt would be a lord by now."
Mika sighed.
Everyone looked on with a newfound respect. So, they already had such tricks up their sleeve early on.
"Don’t be fooled by how quiet Master Shadi seems now. He was a spirited young guy back in the day. Even Brother Hai leveled up. What about your old hairstyle? It made you ten times more badass, and cleaning up made you three times softer. You gotta step it up, man!"
Liszt felt like Shadi had lost his edge over the years, becoming more and more of a pushover. His combat power had definitely dropped by at least three notches. Back at Heaven Port, he’d stroll around with his hands in his pockets, not giving a damn about any rival.
"Shadi is back in the game! A thousand minus seven! A specialist in wiping out entire families!"
Rein had seen it all.
"There are people like this?"
Wolman was utterly shocked. Shadi seemed like such a good guy now, giving silver coins to beggars, no less.
"Uh..."
Shadi begged them to change the subject.
But it was unstoppable.
Shadi was once the channel manager for an arms company, slicked his hair back, punched his ears with studs, shirtless in a leather jacket unbuttoned, as badass as they come, mouth always full of threats.
With the money earned from the counterfeit bills, Liszt hired a bunch of hooligans to mess around in a coastal nation on the Southern Continent.
If nothing else, the Southern Continent had beautiful scenery, and the Yisu people were good-looking, a perfect tourist destination.
Liszt and Dreya even registered their marriage there, in one of those coastal countries.
Liszt figured he might as well stock up on more guns. These weaklings didn’t even have the strength to cut someone properly, yet they dared to call themselves the Triad Gang. With firearms, at least they’d have some fighting power.
He got in touch with Shadi’s old company, Reggae Defense, and naturally, Shadi came with the goods.
After completing the deal with Liszt, acquiring fifty matchlock guns and another fifty firearms, Shadi slaughtered all of his colleagues!
"Man, what a scene! The Willow Leaf Blade slashing left and right. Dead. All dead! It left me and Mika dumbfounded."
Liszt didn’t even know how to react.
Later they found out Shadi was tired of it all, got on the wrong side of the top brass at Reggae Defense, got sidelined selling cheap stuff, so he just took the money and ran.
When Shadi asked Liszt what he wanted the guns for, Liszt replied it was for a bit of robbery, eyeing a bandit group to raid their stronghold and see how much loot they had.
Naturally, Shadi was very interested since the eight Golden Dragons he got from selling military gear wouldn’t last long. He decided to try his luck too.
They ended up destroying the mountain hideout of a hundred-strong bandit group.
"The bandit chief had a son, and it so happened that day was the son’s wedding day. Without another word, Shadi wanted to chop the son as well. Mika, the goody-two-shoes, tried to convince him otherwise. Said the kid’s age sounded like a college student. Guess what Shadi said, Mika, you tell it."
Liszt lit up a cigarette and started smoking.
Shadi involuntarily took a sharp breath, feeling somewhat embarrassed.
"He said, ’Leave this revenge seed for his dad? Right after that, the blade fell and he killed the kid."
Mika chuckled in amazement.
Rein was completely shocked; he knew Shadi was highly spirited, but he hadn’t expected him to be this lively.
"Whoa, battling openly and secretly, blooming on the other shore, Shadi gives you a home, come on, let’s take a walk."
Rein teased Shadi.
Outside, the fireworks continued incessantly, and the noise from the celebration in the central square was also intense; the tumultuous sounds reached them here too.
Later, they mentioned the matter of heading to Heaven Port.
"That time, I felt that things couldn’t go on like this; it was only a matter of time before getting caught. I thought Heaven Port was great—perfect for development. Close to the East Shore of Beima Duchy, that’s where the dream started, General Fen! Human Rights Card! Shining debut!"
Now, Liszt realized just how right his choice had been. Without this hero, this was a game that truly couldn’t be played.
"Uh..."
Fen had no interest in dealing with them; his mind was contemplating the day after tomorrow’s banquet—he’s someone who doesn’t touch a drop of alcohol.
The conversation became more and more animated.
Liszt had almost forgotten the time, and it was almost ten-thirty.
"Damn, I’m outta here, you guys keep drinking, I wish everyone a happy new year, all the best, and consider my new year’s greetings done right here!"
Liszt rushed off at lightning speed.
The night sky was already polluted with light; the island was bursting with fireworks everywhere, and every window glowed with light. Passing by the central square on his way, the place was packed shoulder to shoulder.
The celebration was completely different from what Caroso had imagined; in reality, it was a group of old guys setting up tents, gathering together to smoke Ye Zi and drink, while also informally helping out women who had lost their way.
Twenty minutes later.
Liszt finally arrived at the castle on the outskirts of the eastern part of the city, restless and more excited than he’d ever been, his mind filled with all sorts of images.
Now, he felt like he was heading to Heaven.
From the window of the study, he saw someone arrive downstairs; Dreya had been waiting for a while and came to the door to meet Liszt.
"Really, don’t you know to use an umbrella?"
Dreya wore a very tight-fitting black coat, dusting snow off Liszt. This attire troubled Liszt a lot... could it be an... edible sandwich?
Liszt didn’t say a word, tense, barely able to utter a sentence.
"Let’s warm up by the fire first; do you want to eat something else?"
Dreya settled Liszt down in the living room on the first floor to warm himself by the fireplace while she held a cup of tea, blowing on it, ready to give it to Liszt later.
Liszt shook his head, finding everything very strange, sister.
Finally, Liszt warmed up and took a sip of the tea.
"Go to the bathroom and take a bath."
Dreya said calmly.
Liszt grunted in agreement; five minutes later, he came back to the living room wearing a bathrobe.
Seeing his reserved appearance, Dreya lightly laughed.
"Come with me, upstairs."
Dreya extended her hand, asking Liszt to give her his.
It’s coming! Finally!
Liszt gladly joined hands and followed Dreya up the staircase, step by step.
"Unfortunately, they are all my Blood Slaves. Losing their virginity would be a loss out of all proportion."
Dreya spoke flatly at the bedroom door.
Liszt, speechless, said, "Boring, I’m leaving."
He would rather go back and chat with the crowd of rotten guys.
"Are you sure... I picked out a new year’s gift for you with great care. You’re not short on money now, so I had to get some... custom clothes."
Dreya pushed open the large door.
Inside, things had already begun—atmosphere strained with seductive clothes, the sounds of disturbance, and the light panting that didn’t stop before they turned to look.
Dreya herself also shed her tight black coat, revealing custom clothing primarily consisting of bustiers and black gauze.
At this moment.
Liszt could indeed call this place, Heaven Port.
"As long as there’s still a scent... any way will do."
The Vampire whispered by his ear, breath as fragrant as orchid.
Liszt! You’ve made it!
