Chapter 169: CLXIX. Miracle of Suffering
"Liszt sent you here to do what?"
"He asked me to hire local adventurers to find a nun named Sharon at the church."
"Liszt is truly vile, not even sparing clergy."
Rein crushed his cigarette, worthy of being a Captain, utterly disturbed.
Nuns of the Eternal Sect apparently cannot marry before thirty, dedicating their prime years to serving the Dragon Lord.
Shortly thereafter,
the adventurer had struck a deal with Sharon and brought her to where the pirates and Rein were located.
The pirates handed the adventurer two silver coins as payment.
Simply running a short errand, two silver coins were indeed a lavish sum.
Taking the money hastily, the adventurer left without wanting to stir up trouble, given such a hefty amount could mean shady business.
Sharon studied Rein for a good while before recognizing him, completely different from the description on the warrant, looking like a beggar, only identifying him by recalling the written height of over two meters on the warrant.
"You are the Black Sail’s Boatswain and sailor, right?"
Sharon tucked a strand of golden hair behind her ear, curious about the character of Liszt’s friends, wondering how to react if their personalities had greatly changed when meeting them.
Hmm?
Rein felt as if he had been struck by lightning, what was this woman’s deal? Had she and Liszt been involved for some time now? Liszt truly played his cards close to the chest.
To avoid attracting attention, Sharon was dressed in casual clothes, but to meet Liszt, she still dolled up a bit, borrowing top-notch garments bought from Duguli.
A dark brown belted trench coat, a high-neck white knit sweater, plain straight pants, laced boots, refining her eyebrows, concealing flaws with foundation, and applying lipstick.
Sensing Rein’s suspicion.
"Don’t worry, I and your Captain are... very good friends, take me to see him please."
Sharon fidgeted with her clothes, also a bit nervous, her behavior resembling that of a young girl.
"Very good friends, as in lovers?"
Rein tactically frowned, Liszt was cheating somehow, how could such a scar-faced man have such good romantic fortune, the He Transmutes Freedom Method? It’s practically fraud! It must be outlawed!
Sharon was left speechless by the question, strictly speaking, previously perhaps, not speaking as if agreeing by default.
Rein pulled out a cigarette from his coat and started smoking.
"I’m nearly driven mad with envy, collapsing on the bed and covering myself with a quilt, starting to scream and cry into the pillow, while holding back; as I write, my hands shake, later, they shook even more severely.
Please stop talking, no matter how hard or poor my life is, I would never feel sad, it’s only when you talk about this kind of stuff, my heart aches as if it’s being sliced, tears uncontrollably streaming down while I write."
Rein deeply inhaled the smoke, his tone grave.
Sharon looked puzzled, all... spooky, rather, unbelievable.
Meanwhile, at this moment.
In the small town where Fen and his group were staying.
To avoid detection, Fen had found an abandoned farm and reached an agreement with the owner, renting it for three months.
The farm’s land was already neglected, sitting idle anyway, so renting it out made sense.
The farm was vast, with just the barn able to house over a hundred people; considering Black Sail brought only fifty men and bought over seventy horses in preparation, all tethered in the paddock.
The farm also had a two-story villa, built on a wooden foundation, far from the luxury of noble estates, but for pirates, having a place to stay was good enough.
When Liszt arrived at the villa with a large group, including several new faces,
Fen’s eyelids twitched uncontrollably, worthy of a Captain, having brought so many people, quickly pulling Liszt aside to discuss matters on the second floor.
Meredith and her group moved in too, Gawain having recuperated somewhat over the past few days, now able to walk with a cane, and soon enough would be able to join in robbing the train.
"Where is Rein, that person?"
Mika had rested for a while, his fatigue entirely swept away, limbering up his limbs.
"He went to the city to see a doctor, also, aren’t you going to introduce me to these ladies?"
Shadi was profoundly shocked, where did Liszt scrounge up these people from, he said when he entered that these people would join in the train robbery, then head back to Heaven Port.
It was truly unbelievable.
"This is Meredith, Goria’s... lover, this one is Duke Sefer’s daughter, and as for the last one."
Mika’s gaze turned to the Dancing lady.
According to Liszt, this woman almost ruined everything, she must be put to good use, squeezed dry of all her value; she’s a high-level resource.
If recognized as his adopted daughter and given directly to Taylor, then the payoff would be doubled; but now... who is whose father?
Mika didn’t know the details, at least that’s what Liszt had said.
"She’s a slave we bought, to be fully enjoyed."
Morison nodded and said as much.
The Dancing lady’s face turned the color of iron, worse than going to prison.
Shadi was completely startled by the jarring statements; never mind the issue of stabbing the contact list hive, but to fully enjoy her, really?
By then, Liszt had finished discussing the matter separately with Fen, telling him all that had happened over the week.
Fen thought for a moment.
Liszt’s methods had been flawless, one might say foolproof, and now there was a critical need for manpower, two Heroic Level adventurers would indeed be excellent combat forces.
Fen also informed Liszt about the recent progress.
Since the maps bought on the market were too crude, Fen had gone to the site to survey and had drawn a contour map, extremely accurate, and had already determined a general strategy.
Fen knew a bit about explosives, positioning the explosives at various points to achieve precise blasting with minimal force.
He had found the perfect spot to attack.
The train would pass through a tunnel approximately three li long; at that moment, the tunnel would be collapsed, shrouding the inside in darkness for an easy capture.
Liszt was extremely shocked; it was worthy of General Fen, a perfect plan had been made.
However, Fen indicated that they would still need to wait for the first trial run to see the speed of the passenger train before making a decision.
After the negotiation ended,
The two came downstairs.
At that moment, Lu also flew down from Gawain’s ear and drank water sitting at the edge of a cup.
"Wow? Where did you guys find this, using its wings as materials, that is extremely useful."
Even Fen was a bit curious, as elves were quite rare.
Hearing this, Lu quickly hid behind Meredith, the magician worth three thousand Golden Dragons, had an aura too sinister.
"Do you know about this thing?"
Morison asked curiously.
"Of course, I used to..."
Before Fen could finish,
"Let’s just skip the standard process, shall we? Just tell me on which page of the manual it is."
Liszt didn’t feel like hearing Fen’s long-winded talk, he wasn’t in the mood just after getting off the train.
"It’s not recorded in the manual, but I have hosted a few of them. This isn’t native to the Western Continent. This one has black wings, which is relatively rare. Its affinity for each element is higher, and its talent for Magic, among their kin, is one of the best."
Fen observed for a while; it wasn’t too rare an item, compared to that one in the old den at Heaven Port.
"True to General Fen’s reputation, easily knowing what we didn’t."
The wound on Mika’s arm hadn’t fully healed yet, all thanks to that mini magician.
Fen’s eyes swept again, examining Meredith and Gawain, then his gaze rested on the Dancing lady.
His expression immediately grew solemn, an invisible Magic Power spreading out. He had only given her a cursory glance before, but now, after a careful examination, it turned out the Dancing lady was the most critical.
He couldn’t be wrong; that evil fluctuation, she was... a person of the Miracle of Suffering.
Fen spread his palm wide, and immediately an arcane missile condensed in his hand.
It was not the same level as the one Meredith released.
The terrifying gray energy polyhedron emitted horrifying fluctuations, each the size of two human heads, and shot explosively towards the Dancing lady.
