Chapter 145: CXLV. God
Chapter 145: CXLV. God
Using the intelligence network of the Aran Court, they discovered three former classmates.
One was serving as a Magician at the Pedan Kingdom court and was not to be disturbed for the time being.
Another had also chosen to seek shelter in a religious institution, the Holy Spirit Church. Although its influence in Aran was limited, its impact was far-reaching across the entire Western Continent. This fellow had even managed to become a Priest, so for now, they could only observe.
As for the last one, what they dug up was a Warrant.
"Is there some mistake?"
The pale-skinned man was baffled. Something was definitely off, and the portrait on the warrant was the classic, unmistakable look of a bandit—a scar-faced man with a beard braided into little braids to look fierce, the kind who looked like they’d eat several children for breakfast.
"No mistake, it’s definitely him. If you look closely, you might recognize him—he was that crazy guy at school who liked to teach people Chinese, the one who used to curse at himself."
William added.
With this reminder from William, Mo Yutong also recalled such an individual. Among all the female students, his reputation was extremely poor, implicated in troubles both inside and beyond the school.
The others at school didn’t understand Chinese, but Mo Yutong did. Though they had only met a few times, the impression was deep. This person loved to teach others to say "I am an idiot," "Genesis start-up," "f*ck off and ignore" and such—clearly a madman. He also liked to pull people into groups, form organizations, and move in packs. It now seemed his talent as a leader had been evident early on.
Mu Ran looked at the Warrant, equally stunned.
Black Sail Pirate Group, Captain?
"Logically, such a person should have been discovered earlier. Why is there only news now?"
Mu Ran mused for a while. That remote place, where the intelligence network couldn’t reach, it was somewhat understandable. Really mad, going to such a place—didn’t he think to find a decent job with his brain?
"We must send someone to capture him quickly, this is a rare case."
Mu Ran said so. There had been other alumni who turned into bandits, but becoming a Captain was something else. Pirates were different from ordinary bandits, with strong organizational and execution abilities. A ship’s cost was not insignificant; this person must be quite adept at cunning to survive at sea.
"Regular soldiers may not... be suitable for the job. We should consult with the teacher and have him send someone. Liszt is now, it seems... a major snake head at Heaven Port. A few months ago, he even killed the entire family of a lord at Blue Bay Port. He’s one of the most rampant criminal organizations in the East Sea Domain."
William filled in.
Mu Ran’s eyelids twitched, and the other three were nearly dropping their jaws to the floor—as their worldviews were completely upended.
"Wattafa."
The pale-skinned man let slip in his native dialect. To put it into a North American context, the gravity of the situation would be comparable to a drug cartel leader in South America.
In other words, an optoelectronics genius from an Ivy League school went to a place more chaotic than South America, stood tall and raised his banner—it was damn magnificent!
Mo Yutong was also stunned. Essentially becoming the boss of the Triad Gang—was this something an Ivy League student could pull off? It was like a myth, inconceivable.
William also brought Warrants for the entire Black Sail Pirate Group.
It was not great to look at—the entire crew were scoundrels.
"So we can only set this aside for now and wait until the teacher returns from his journey to decide. This man is... very dangerous."
Mu Ran made a judgment. He was actually looking for ways to break free from that Magician’s control, or even to kill him. That Magician might be terrifyingly powerful, but the Western Continent was not short of superlative individuals.
If he could win the Emperor’s favor, why couldn’t his world-beating prowess, capable of capturing dragons barehanded, handle him?
He had already connected with the overall director of the Aran National Bank—he was the Emperor’s trusted one-eyed soldier from the battle at the Royal City years ago.
The five of them had breached moral principles, and all the alumni still living in the Western Continent surely abhorred them deeply.
Although it was just William being manipulated at the moment, once his influence grew to a certain point, it was only a matter of time before he too would emerge, and these people were all potential significant threats.
"We must ensure the manned trial operation runs smoothly. All compartments must be top-grade, don’t ask about the price; use only the best of everything. Treat the visiting royals and nobles well. We are now bound by shared destiny. You understand, to climb the ranks at court?"
In Mu Ran’s mind, he wanted not only to escape from the magician but also to reach the apex, and even to touch... the ultimate secret of the world.
Because Mu Ran knew.
Gods... really existed!
Three days later.
In an inn of a remote town in an Aran Affiliated Country.
Rein learned a new phrase.
"Hellhounds."
"May Lord Guan bless me, and one day, let me slaughter those two hellhounds, and three others... be they state traitors or earth traitors."
Before setting off, just like the big event in Londen City, Liszt paid his respects to the statue of Guan Emperor on the ship.
The miracle of Caroso, that madman, made Liszt wonder if there really were gods, but as he cursed and railed against them daily, he was sure that Lord Guan was shielding him.
"Hellhounds, specifically in what location?"
Rein inquired.
"Let’s put it this way, not even the Thief Guild would dare to touch them, they are so foul and mired, the worst scum in the cosmos."
Liszt, taking a puff of Rein’s hookah, also tried something new.
"We have to split up, and this departure could be our last."
Rein said so.
"So, the goodbyes are just another new phrase?"
Morison insisted on accompanying Liszt to Cast Province within Aran Country, having obtained the itinerary from the most magical species, the adventurers. Mr. Sefer would attend a dinner there in four days.
Now there was plenty of time. Cast Province was even a bit closer than the Southeast Province, and they could kidnap Mr. Sefer on the way and then immediately head to Yunxi City to meet up with Fen and the others.
Security inside Aran Country was quite good, so obtaining something like explosives would be difficult, which was why Fen had already bought the dynamite and detonators in advance in this Affiliated Country.
The plan was to blow up the railways or tunnels, giving the Aran nobles a real gut-wrenching experience.
More than forty pirates, each carrying five pounds of explosives, were ready to turn the world upside down when the time came.
Fen, of course, could use magic techniques to alter the terrain and block the train, but he preferred to have a backup plan for everything.
"We can sneak into Aran tonight, where the border security is tight, and it’s easier to get things done at night. Once you cross the border, it’s our turn to leave."
The guide from the park told Liszt, fearing that Liszt would hold them back and cross the border together.
How could Liszt not understand their thoughts?
Was he such a narrow-minded person? He had already memorized the routes; holding them would be pointless, as he was still looking forward to establishing contact with their boss to expand and grow together.
There must be connections between the various parks in the Great Wetland, and when he became the Boss at Heaven Port, he would surely need to develop new channels. This route was also quite good for disposing of stolen goods.
"Don’t worry, when you two leave, just leave. Pass on a message to your boss for me; Hened and I have a life-and-death bond, so don’t take what others cherish."
Liszt stood at the inn’s entrance, looking out at the verdant natural scenery of the inland, thinking about the wretched places he had been in all these years.
He was determined to give the entire world...
a real shake-up.
