Chapter 118: CXVIII. Ten Years of Solitude

Years later, when Captain Liszt was deeply stuck in the mud at Pirate Nest and received a letter from an old friend, he would recall the noon when Sharon took him to the ferris wheel in the forest park.

Liszt had once died, becoming a numb and cold-blooded maniac, but unable to endure the loneliness, seeing this letter brought him back to the world of the living.

However, this mood lasted only for three seconds.

Because Sharon was a wild woman, when it came to wildness, amongst all the women Liszt knew, only Dreya could match her.

She thought dying for the first time in bed was too mundane, so she took Liszt to the ferris wheel in the forest park, where at its highest point, they met at the peak, in every sense of the word.

Upon seeing the name spelled in English.

Ten years later, Liszt finally realized that he was essentially a student kidnapped by an alternate dimension and not a snakehead of Heaven Port smeared with blood.

I commit murders and arson, but I know, I am a good person.

"It’s strange, I’ve never seen this script before, but there are many repetitive symbols. It should just be a phonetic script, not an ideographic script. If it’s just a letter, without other points of entry, decoding it would be extremely difficult."

Fen, knowing full well what Liszt was capable of, understood he could not master the driving of Junlin Sword or even utilize it fully—it only matched historical facts. Just like that Radiant Knight from the past, Liszt was also an outsider and overly abstract, though it wasn’t explicitly stated.

So, he slyly deceived him.

Fen had other speculations; he knew Liszt had escaped from Northern Prison. Intriguingly, this letter indicated that Liszt had other companions scattered around, were they all moved to the big prison by some force?

In the present world, no magician possesses such power, at least none publicly known. Perhaps one should look historically.

Liszt possessed an ambition unimaginable to ordinary people, leading Fen to choose to stay on for a long time after joining, to access the deepest cosmic powers and continue his greatest research into Necromancy night and day.

Fen realized that he must get involved in this, perhaps the century’s biggest conspiracy.

"This is a private letter, don’t look at it."

Noticing Fen’s gaze, Liszt quickly folded the letter. This top student knew half of what was in the sky and everything on the ground, touched slightly on every field, quite frightening, he also vaguely guessed that his hometown wasn’t in the Far East Islands.

"I need a reply letter, only then can I claim the client’s payment."

The male adventurer hoped for a swift resolution.

"Can you come back at this time tomorrow? I need some time to prepare."

Liszt had no issues, and after handing over ten silver coins, the adventurer’s eyes bulged. Wasn’t this a good deal? Just waiting one day, wait! He’d feed his crew well tonight.

"Of course, I can."

The adventurer smiled as he took the silver coins.

"So, about the decision on who will go to Aran, Ox, the big lizard, the tool guy stays, the rest can go about their business."

After Liszt gave the order.

He immediately randomly picked a guest room in his own inn, locked the door, and held the letter with trembling hands.

It wasn’t just a single piece of stationery.

Sharon, as if writing a thesis, bound together eight or nine pages—the word count was no lower than two thousand. It seemed she treasured this opportunity very much, writing whatever came to her mind, unleashing everything at once.

This alleviated some of Liszt’s worries. Usually, the fewer the words, the more serious the matter. Sharon having ample time to prepare such a lengthy document indicated that she was in a safe place for now.

Had Sharon made a name for herself, too? Sending a letter to such a forsaken place wasn’t cheap, costing at least a few gold dragons.

Moreover, seemingly worried about Liszt’s wellbeing, she had included three gold dragons in the envelope. This was no small amount; ordinary people, be they petty criminals or navy soldiers, had to work diligently for two or three years to earn such a sum.

Liszt began to read the content of these many pages carefully.

Knowing that Sharon was still alive was a relief. If she were in trouble, he wouldn’t hesitate to put aside the matter with the Dragon Lady and the robbery, commanding his fierce subordinates to manipulate others to do the killing.

Contrary to Liszt’s expectations, the letter didn’t start with any expression of missing him. Instead, it went straight to the point. Sharon recounted what she had encountered over the past ten years. While writing, she seemed a bit emotional, pouring out all her grievances.

Since parting ways in the Northern Prison.

Sharon was very clever. Not knowing the language and having no one to rely on was practically suicidal, but she couldn’t find any classmates to turn to and was forced to depend on others.

Many criminals had escaped during a riot, including women. One of these women was incredibly powerful; she effortlessly killed all the pursuers that emerged from the prison.

Sharon decided to stick to her thick-skinned, regardless of how much the woman scolded or beat her. It was a matter of survival, so clinging to some hope was better than death.

This woman was the leader of a gang in the Central Western Wilderness of the continent. She still kept in touch with Sharon, treating her well and teaching her to read and speak.

After spending two or three years in the wilderness, Sharon realized it wasn’t a long-term solution. She decisively leveraged her appearance and cultural knowledge to apply for a position in the Eternal Sect as a reserve Holy Professor.

With her intelligence, of course, she passed through all the hurdles, from reserve to full nun, eventually entering the Aran Headquarters. She is now a high-ranking nun in the Eternal Sect, second only to the Priest, with a substantial monthly income and security.

Liszt was stunned. Could Sister Sharon really be that strategic? Being unfamiliar with the place and making a career for herself in just two or three years?

Sister Sharon talked about overcoming hurdles; where else could one hear such clear planning? Stick to Sister Sharon’s pace! That’s stability.

During his own three years, he had accomplished little of substance, instead racking up numerous manslaughter charges. He hadn’t even fully learned the language and had ended up in the darkest place on earth—stumbling into Hell.

He should have also secured a position in the Church’s bureaucracy, becoming a Madman. Wouldn’t that have been sweet?

Women have their innate advantages. Sharon found a reliable boss lady, while he had made plastic brothers, and ten years later, he still had to bail them out again.

The next part of the letter was the main event.

Sharon talked about her views on the current situation at Heaven Port, urging Liszt to quit pirating as soon as possible, to consider transitioning. With Aran’s tech support and their imminent overreaching ambitions, conquering the Beima Duchy was only a matter of time. Heaven Port would lose its geographic advantage of being out of the Emperor’s reach; it would either be conquered or transform again into a commercial port.

Pirates there would completely lose their habitat.

Liszt was speechless; this is why women shouldn’t meddle in these matters, especially a Californian Girl with frail ideas that couldn’t achieve great things. He was the Boss now. When the Emperor saw how distant Heaven Port was, he wouldn’t foolishly repeat the mistakes of an eastern conquest. What if he offered amnesty and he himself became an Admiral, a fief official? How domineering would that be?

Besides, that potential invasion was far off. By the time they arrived, he would have grown stronger, relying on the Dragon Lady to rip a piece of the East Shore from the Beima Duchy as a stronghold, aligning with the Duchy’s internal forces seeking restoration, playing the Regent King controlling a puppet king. With all parts of the Divine Jewel gathered, the fully formed Junlin Sword and Stele, backed by Targaryen Dragonstone Island—who would really be the Emperor?

Then Sharon mentioned the most crucial point.

William, his associates, and the Magician’s identity.
