[BL] Accidentally Becoming the Healer of the Deranged Archduke -
Chapter 91: A Plant Called Dishro?
Chapter 91: A Plant Called Dishro?
Xion was bewildered. He was waiting for Soren to come closer so he could blow his brain with the bazooka but someone kicked the bastard away!
Well, at least that saved him some merit points.
He groaned as he tried to move his arms. Even his eyes were fighting to remain open.
The exhaustion and alcohol were catching up to him, dulling his senses. All he wanted now was to relax just for a moment.
Anyway, if Soren dared to come closer again, he’d use his weapons.
He was rich now, after all. That meant he was allowed to be a little willful... like, say, driving a tank over Soren, right?
Sleep sounded like a great idea.
And that was exactly what he was about to do—until... he was picked up.
Xion, "...???"
For a moment, he thought it was Ray. But the not-so-muscular arms wrapped around him told him otherwise.
He blinked at the male. With hair like Soren and eyes like the sun, he looked like a prince straight out of some anime.
Then he recalled. "Nikolai?"
In his drunken stupor, Xion forgot that just a few hours ago, he had seen Nikolai with the royal heir. That was enough of a proof of his identity.
"You recognize me. That makes me glad." Nikolia’s voice was so gentle as if afraid to alarm the teary-eyed healer.
"You! How can you call his Highness by his name?!" Soren roared and ended up spitting out a mouthful of blood.
But the outburst took its toll as his body gave out. He collapsed onto the ground unable to move.
Meanwhile, Ray, who had just arrived at the back garden, heard the furious shout. A bad premonition settled in his gut.
He hurried forward only to stop dead in his tracks.
There, standing under the moonlight, was His Highness, Nikolai Valaria, holding Xion in his arms and looking at him so... sweetly?
Nikolai was the son of His Majesty’s younger brother, Lucian Valaria, and the older cousin of the current royal heir, Silas Valaria
.Unlike his cousins and siblings, who fought both openly and in the shadows for the throne, Nikolai steered clear of political struggles, indulging instead in beauty, poetry, and leisure.
This made his presence in noble circles far more elusive.
It was no surprise that Allen failed to recognize him. Like Xion, the alchemist had rarely ventured beyond the North, and this trip to Myrthiana was his first.
But Ray knew better. In fact, he was far more wary of Nikolai than of Silas, the heir apparent. He had many reasons to think like that.
At first glance, it seemed like Nikolai had been squandering his time doing absolutely nothing.
Others might think that he was a waste, however, Ray thought otherwise.
Maintaining harmonious relationships with all three royal siblings, never showing ambition for the throne, and winning the favor of the branch families... All without drawing suspicion?
It was nothing short of a miracle, especially when every single one of them was hungry for supreme power.
Secondly, because Nikolai was looking at silly Xion with adoration!
Ray hastily walked toward Xion.
"Oh, Nikolai... It’s really you! How is your stomach?" Xion’s occupational disease took over his mind.
Ray almost tripped. That’s not how you talk to royals, Xion!
Nikolai, however, only chuckled, flashing a set of perfect white teeth. "Thanks to you, I’m fine."
Xion shifted to find a comfortable position in Nikolai’s embrace and started asking questions regarding his health.
Ray, "..." I don’t want to die just yet!
Afraid that Xion might say something more inappropriate than calling the royal by his name which was nothing short of treason, Ray stepped closer, "Your Highness."
Ray bowed before giving Xion a look to stay silent. Shut up. Right now.
"Xion is drunk, your Highness. Please forgive him for making such a terrible mistake."
Nikolai raised his brow at the famous Raymond Eldritch. This was the knight who was the main force under Darius. Also, the one who kept the little archduke safe on the battlefield.
"As astute as ever, Raymond," Nikolai titled his head slightly as he gave the knight once over. "Looks just as good too."
This was another reason. Nikolai was a real flirt!
Ray sighed lightly. Tonight might be the night he sighed the most, and it was all because of Xion.
"Please don’t tease me, your Highness. You can put Xion down. I’ll take him back." Ray raised his arms only to be avoided by Nikolai.
"What’s the rush?" Nikolai’s voice held a lazy amusement as he glanced at the healer nestled in his arms. "Xion seems comfortable, don’t you think-"
"Why is His Highness holding my Xion?" Darius strode closer and Ray instantly stepped back.
He was the one who informed the archduke that Xion had disappeared along with the reason. He had rushed here as soon as possible because his grace was discussing something important with Duke Nocturne.
But, the archduke was already here. It not only surprised Ray but also the prince.
Nikolai looked at the famous archduke. Unlike most, there wasn’t a shred of fear in his expression. Only interest.
"Because he’s hurt," Nikolai replied simply.
Xion barely registered what they were saying. His eyelids felt impossibly heavy and his mind drifted between wakefulness and sleep.
Still, like a curious child, he blinked blearily at the three figures before him.
One had blue eyes, one had green eyes, and the one who was holding him had golden eyes.
His foggy brain connected the dots in the only way it could.
"You guys look like a disco ball... Hahaha!"
Ray, "..." I better stay silent.
"What is a Dizko ball?" Nikolai frowned, clearly perplexed. The royal prided himself on his knowledge. He was sure he had read almost all the books in the royal library which were worth reading. So, how was there a term he had never encountered?
Darius, on the other hand, remained silent. Unlike Nikolai, he had long since accepted that Xion had a habit of spewing incomprehensible words. However, even he couldn’t decipher what in the world a Dizko ball was supposed to be.
Naturally, both royals turned to Ray.
The knight stiffened under their expectant gazes, sweat forming at his temples.
"U-Um," Ray stalled, scrambling for an answer. "There’s this plant... Dishro! Yes, a plant. It has silver leaves and, uh, yellow fruit...?"
Even as the words left his mouth, Ray knew he was spewing utter nonsense. But what else could he do? He was under pressure!
Darius, however, was unimpressed. He turned to Xion, who was now frowning. You’re comparing me to a useless leaf now?
"Come here," Darius didn’t wait for permission. He directly snatched his naughty healer from stunned Nikolai’s arms.
And how could he not be surprised? Even when he lived a decadent life no one dared to call him any names. At least, not on his face.
Yet now, here he was... being called a fruit?
Oblivious, Xion sniffed the herbal scent. Instinctively, he nuzzled closer to the source, and before he knew he was in the arms of the archduke.
However, when he was being held, he groaned loudly, "Damn, that pervert hit me too hard." Xion cursed as he held his stomach. Even his back was hurting.
Darius’s gaze darkened as he took in the sight of Xion’s bloodied clothes. Though his face was left unscathed, the rest of him was in far worse condition.
Xion’s offhanded complaint shifted all attention to Soren, who was barely holding onto consciousness. Nikolai’s earlier kick had been anything but merciful.
"He hurt you?" Darius asked, his voice dangerously calm as he adjusted his hold on Xion. In just a few hours, his little healer had ended up like this.
It was infuriating.
Xion rested his head against Darius’ chest, eyes fluttering shut as tiredness finally took over his will to remain awake.
"Hmm... He also said I shouldn’t seduce the archduke. But I didn’t. Why would I? He’s so scary..."
With each word, his speech became slurred and drowsy until he mumbled something else incoherent and finally drifted into sleep.
Black box-
Xion, excited that he met an acquaintance, "Nikolai! How are you?"
Baffled Soren, "How can you call His Highness by his name? Are you out of your mind?"
Ray, "Finally someone who knows my pain! You tell him!"
-------------
Dozing Xion, "Why would I seduce the archduke when he is so scary?"
Nikolai, "Hahaha, you scared your baby. Won’t that make me a winner?"
Darius smirked, "If he is this afraid won’t he listen to me more?"
Ray looked at the sparks flying everywhere, "..." I-I better stay silent and let Soren take the brunt of Archduke’s anger later.
