Chapter 117: Not much. Just 500,000 Merit points.

Chapter 117: Not much. Just 500,000 Merit points.

Soon, the freshly cooked food was delivered to his door, and the one who came with the servants was none other than Noxian.

The boy didn’t hesitate. He jumped onto the bed without a second thought. "Brother, how are you feeling? Are you fine now?"

Xion couldn’t help but feel like an irresponsible adult for making his little brother worry.

Without a word, he lifted the purple haired boy and settled him onto his lap.

The boy blinked in surprise but quickly found himself wrapped in a warm embrace. Though still a bit confused and worried, he instinctively hugged his brother back.

"I am sorry for making you worry."

"I was really scared when I saw you like that," The boy murmured in a low voice. He clearly did not want to recall the bloody picture of Xion looking so lifeless.

Xion easily diverted the topic to other things while patting the small back until the tense body relaxed in his arms.

"Have you eaten?"

"Yes."

Noxian, of course, had eaten. He was used to surviving on just one meal, or sometimes only a single bun a day.

However, Xion made sure that he had proper three meals a day. Due to Xion’s attentive care of the boy, the archduke had asked Nazia to give him three meals without fail.

Darius had observed Xion’s care for the child. And while it ultimately only irritated him, he still couldn’t bring himself to throw Noxian away.

At least, not until they returned.

Xion, oblivious to the fact just how much he had influenced Darius, was busy snuggling with Noxian.

The boy sure had so many things to talk about. From how they were stuck in the rain to how they took a ride with Darius, who was returning from the palace, Noxian told Xion everything.

Xion barely ate a few bites of bread. Though warm, the food lacked the flavors he was used to.

Due to his influence, even the cook in the retinue had started to adapt his way of cooking and now they were using different spices.

It was not like he was particularly hungry now. So, he could only let Noxian take the rest back.

Now alone, Xion leaned back, patting his full stomach as his mind drifted to the lingering concerns he had pushed aside.

The holy book... He still needed to find it. And by any means possible, he had to stay out of his father’s sight.

As for Soren losing his hands, he was not the least bit sympathetic. That monster deserved it. The thought of him, however, led his mind to Eli.

He had no idea if Eli had stopped following Boris and went back to Soren or if she was still playing the role of the noble wife, trying to get her hands on money and power.

None of those had anything to do with him as long as that crazy woman stayed away from him.

He pushed himself off the bed, limping slightly as he made his way to the chair by the large window. It was near the huge window from where he could see the garden and a stone fountain in the shape of a beautiful lady pouring water from her pitcher.

It was pretty. It was beautiful. Then again, everything about this place was beautiful. But Xion’s barely calm senses had started to tingle again.

’What now?’ He muttered to himself only to get startled when his system replied.

’You can try to ask His Highness, Prince Nikolai about the holy book, host. If that does not work, then you can also discuss it with the archduke. With his influence, it would not be difficult for you to have your hands on that book.’

Xion pinched the bridge of his nose. It wasn’t that he hadn’t considered it. He had.

But Nikolai’s excessive enthusiasm made him wary. The prince was too passionate which somehow made the tragedy survivor Xion uncertain of him.

As for the archduke, Xion exhaled sharply. That was an entirely different problem. He was both afraid and embarrassed when it came to Darius.

He honestly had no clue how to act in front of the archduke. His previous way of getting along with Rael could not be applied to Darius.

Definitely not.

With no better options, he decided to talk to the system and understand more about how it operated.

Apparently, accidentally forcing the system to evolve into a fully functional, talking one had drained a significant amount of energy.

Xion’s rapid progress in upgrading had triggered the advancement much earlier than originally designed.

That also explained why he couldn’t reach the system during last night’s emergency situation.

After grasping the full situation, the first question that popped into Xion’s mind was-

’Can I bring my lab to this world?’

Losing such a well-structured facility was simply unacceptable.

What if, someday, the system disappeared? At the very least, he needed a lab of his own.

To his surprise, the system’s response was nothing like what he had expected.

’Yes, you can.’

Xion blinked. "...Really?"

Was he hallucinating? Since when had there ever been a system that allowed a host to transport an entire lab into another world?

’Of course, you can. As long as you earn enough Merit points to exchange for it.’

A glint of hope flashed in his eyes. ’How many?’

’Not much. Just 500,000 Merit points. With your speed, it won’t be difficult to reach.’

All the excitement left him, and soon, Xion fell on the table. With his cheek pressed on the cold table, he could only sigh.

The cost of the lab was 100,000 Merit points. He had only managed to gather them after various rewards from the system.

Even his birthday was a year away!

How was he supposed to earn that much?

As if to pour salt on his wounds, the system added, ’Even if you have the Merit points, where exactly are you planning to set up the lab?’

Xion: "..." I have a suspicion that the system is making fun of me, but I have no proof.

But it wasn’t wrong. He hadn’t even thought about that.

Perhaps he should focus on earning merit points until he created the cure for moonshade affliction.

Then, he would look for a perfect place to make a home. That would also be the place for his lab.

The North was too cold, and the South, where they were currently staying, was unbearably hot. The West was out of the question since it was under Marquis Roberto’s control where Roberto governed under the rule of the Nocturne family.

That only left the East.

His old country was also in the eastern area. And with the positioning of the state, if he went to the east, he would experience different seasons throughout the year.

Was that not the perfect place? A land where he could enjoy every kind of weather without suffering from extreme heat or freezing cold.

Because of the big river in the way, not many crossed the edge and ventured deeper into the East.

Being closer to the border of the neighboring country which had a very good relationship with the current royal family, that place suddenly sounded like heaven!

Hence, a certain silly Xion smiled to himself as he made his future plans, completely forgetting about his prior arrangement with the prince.
