Chapter 115: Xion is Officially Booked For a Date?

Xion was still caught in the heat of his embarrassment. His ears burned red as he buried his face in his hands.

What had he been thinking back then? How could he be so stupid?

He groaned and rolled onto his side, only for a sharp pain to shoot through his swollen ankle.

"Ugh, damn it!" He winced, rubbing his ankle gently on the bedsheet.

The ache did not subside, but his sulking and embarrassment were soon interrupted by a loud knock at the door.

"Xion? Are you still in there?"

The voice sounded unfamiliar to him. He instinctively wanted to yell, to tell the person to go away. But it was not his home for him to act this willful.

Patting his cheeks and willing his frantic heart to calm down, he spoke, "Come i-"

Before he could properly end his words and tell the person to come inside, the door swung open with a swish. It slammed against the wall with a loud thud.

Xion had to cover his ears to save them from the loudness of it all.

Baffled, he looked at the visitor only for his mouth to open wide.

The tall male was dressed in a loose silk shirt and elegantly embroidered vest that hugged his slender frame. His golden hair gleamed under the room’s crystal lighting, and Xion felt the room illuminating just by his presence.

There, in front of him, was none other than the nephew of his majesty, Nikolai Valaria.

"Y-Your Highness?" Xion’s words came out more of a question as if he still was not sure if what he saw was right or if he was simply hallucinating from too much thinking.

With a sheepish smile, the prince shut the door close, and this time, he made sure to lock it gently, "My bad for being so impatient."

With the increasing noise of footsteps getting closer to him, Xion finally came to his senses.

With a hasty move, he threw away the duvet and tried to get up to greet the prince.

However, Nikolai was faster. Within a few steps, he was already standing closer to the bed.

"Hey, don’t move," the prince chided Xion, a light frown etched on his pretty face. "It took so long to patch you up."

Xion was pushed back on his seat and covered with the blanket in a swift move.

Thinking about the last incident where Xion almost labelled Nikolai as a crazy person, he hesitated before muttering an apology.

"I am sorry, Your Highness. I did not recognize you last time."

If I did, I would have charged you more fees! Damn it, I lost the ticket to win the lottery of gold!

Even though he was thinking like a greedy businessman, there was a faint worry lingering on his face. After all, he had indeed treated the prince as a normal person.

Suddenly, he recalled Darius again. Had he not treated the archduke as a normal person too?

Oh, lord! Why am I treating every powerful person as an average citizen?!

He suddenly wished not to meet any more people from the higher hierarchy than he already had.

But before that, he needed to deal with this golden prince.

"I am really sorry," While speaking, Xion bowed his head.

But much to his surprise, Nikolai simply waved his hand, dismissing his words, "Don’t mention it. I actually liked it when you called me Nikolai."

He sat down on the chair beside Xion without hesitation. It was the same chair where Darius had sat all night, waiting for Xion to wake up.

But none of them knew it, and even if Nikolai knew, the prince was not stupid enough to give his rival any chance.

Yeah, he had found Xion both valuable and worthy to be kept by his side.

"How are you feeling? Any discomfort? My people can come any time you wish for."

Xion looked at the prince, whose golden eyes had only his reflection.

Suddenly, Xion found himself too shy to look directly at Nikolai. Just who made this prince so unfairly attractive?

He really was the type of person who could make his debut in the entertainment industry just on the basis of his face. A real-life Prince Charming.

So, the certain face-con who was hit by the pretty faces one after another felt the heat rising on his cheeks. Not wanting to make a fool of himself in front of his prince charming-

Ah, no. He meant the prince.

Xion slightly lowered his head.

"But I must say, I’m a little disappointed." Nikolai’s voice forced him to raise his head.

"Disappointed?" Xion frowned.

"Yeah," Nikolai leaned forward while lowering his voice as if telling Xion some secret. "Didn’t want that cold-faced Darius to tell my uncle about my treasure hunt. And now, I can’t even kick him out."

Xion looked at the easygoing smile on Nikolai’s face and knew that he was just talking nonsense.

He relaxed a bit. The royal did not seem to have any intention of punishing him, anyway.

"Now that I’ve woken up, you can kick me out, your highness."

Nikolai leaned back. There was a mischievous smile on his raised lips, "No can do, Doll. I finally get to see you this close. Why would I lose such a chance?"

Xion, "..." This prince was very different from his perception.

As if knowing what he was thinking, Nikolai laughed. His entire face bloomed like a fresh rose.

"I have to say, it’s a bit unexpected."

"Hmm?" That was all Xion uttered when Nikolai gently held his hand, tracing his finger over his knuckles as he spoke, "Well, I came expecting to see a patient, but all I see is a beauty getting all cozy in my bed."

"Please don’t tease me, Your Highness," the red-eared Xion almost stuttered.

"Of course not! When I heard about your fight with Nocturne Boy, I thought I’d lose my chance to ask you on a date."

The more the prince spoke, the faster his heart started thrumming. No, he did not have a crush on the prince.

Xion was both anxious and nervous. First, he did not have the capital to deny the prince, and second... why does Nikolai have to look handsome?

It was like he was talking to his favorite idol up close, so how could his heart not beat?

Nikolai, enjoying the effect he had on the healer, was in a good mood. His charm was perfectly working this time.

"I am a patient, and patients don’t go on a date."

Nikolai just shrugged. "Does not matter when," as he spoke his attention was taken away by the wooden lunch box on the bedside table. "What’s that?"

Xion suddenly felt a sense of deja vu. All his blush faded, and soon, his face turned serious.

Silently, he grabbed the remaining bread and hid it under the duvet, "This is mine."

Nikolai dramatically widened his golden eyes, until they reminded Xion of a cat.

"How cruel of you! You won’t even share a bite with your beloved savior?"

Xion narrowed his eyes. "Beloved savior?"

"Who do you think dragged your unconscious body out of that disaster of a banquet, hm?" Nikolai flicked his golden hair with a smirk. "You’re welcome, by the way."

Xion blinked. Ah, now he remembered it. It was when he went on a drunken rampage at Nocturne’s banquet.

"Thank you, Your Highness." Xion bowed but did not sacrifice his hard-earned melon bread. Merit points are not easy to earn nowadays!

"Wait a minute," Xion suddenly sat up straighter. "How did I end up in this room?"

"Ah, now he asks!" Nikolai laughed.

"Well, after you passed out soaked in blood, your dear Darius looked like he was about to murder half of the royal capital. But since he had important things to discuss with me, I took the liberty of bringing you here. My residence, in case you haven’t noticed."

It did make sense now. The artistic decor, the luxurious yet eccentric mix of colors, the faint scent of paint. It indeed resembled the flamboyant style of Nikolai.

"So," Nikolai grinned. "Do I get a date as a thank you?"

Xion sighed helplessly. It seemed there was no turning back. He could only nod along. "Alright."

Nikolai gasped, clutching his chest. "Such a sweetheart you are. No wonder that glacier Darius likes you so much."

Xion froze before a frown carved itself on his face. He knew for sure that Nikolai was just messing with him. But even as a joke, he did not want to think in that direction.

Darius is very scary... So much so that Xion did not even dare to call him Rael anymore.

It was as if he was trying to separate the boy he once loved from the terrifying ruler of the north.

"Anyway," Nikolai stretched lazily, forcing the dazed Xion to focus on him again, "Since you’re awake, let’s talk about something more important."

"More important?"

"Yes. The banquet. And more specifically, your dear brother." Nikolai’s playful expression faded into seriousness.
