Chapter 1353 - 1353: The last battle (16)
Erik exploited the situation to launch various types of attacks using the hydra's heads and the elemental lord.
The first head summoned ice spikes from the moisture in the air, as sharp as surgical blades and as long as spears, hurling them toward Vania.
Simultaneously, another head liquefied the ground beneath her feet, mixing the earth and water powers, transforming the earth into a treacherous slush of mud.
The third channeled lightning that arced between the ice spikes, electrifying them as they flew.
Vania reacted. Her dexterity was too high for her to not see what was happening.
She used pyrokinesis to melt the spears and Aerokinesis to avoid the steam that got to her. However, she wasn't able to melt every single spear, as there were too many of them.
Those she couldn't dodge, she shattered with her bone armor, while the blood one absorbed the electricity.
One of Erik's heads raised jagged earth pillars around Vania, while another head created hurricane-force winds that hurled debris at her. These, charged with the residual electricity, became a storm of projectiles.
Vania summoned her mana hammer and slammed it into the ground. The surrounding earth rippled outward in a shockwave, disrupting the terrain.
She then solidified a platform beneath her now monstrous feet and summoned some fire from her palms, creating a super-heated barrier that incinerated the incoming debris before it could reach her.
<Shit… She is not going down.>

[What did you expect?]
The sixth head created a vacuum above Vania to pull her up, while the seventh sent water tendrils through the ground. The eighth head froze these tendrils around her limbs to trap her.
Vania roared, her four-part mouth opening to its fullest. Pyrokinesis worked again, and steam arose from her gray skin.
The ice restraining her limbs cracked, then shattered. She broke free with raw strength, making chunks of ice fly in all directions. All of that happened in less than a second.
[I detect a huge amount of mana from her.]
<Is she preparing something?>
[Most likely, yes.]
Spectral chains materialized around her, creating a whirling defensive barrier that cut through anything that came near. It was like what Uncle Benjamin did when Erik fought against him.
Erik had infinite mana now but wasn't yet able to use telekinesis with the same prowess the man did, although he was also sending attacks on Vania through it and trying to slow her down.
The problem was always aim. Vania didn't stay idle for a second, so Erik couldn't properly lock on to her, and even if he did, Vania used the spectral chains to get free of the constraints.
Again, spectral chains shot through the air like horrific arrows, creating a web of glowing spectral metal that had no other purpose than to get Erik. He dodged and weaved, but getting away from those things was anything but easy.
The chains cut straight through trees, splitting them in half. They smashed rocks and boulders of various sizes and everything Erik conjured into pieces, carving deep lines into the ground below, like giant claw marks.
But the most obvious effect was how the chains filled the sky—hundreds of glowing metal strands crisscrossed overhead, creating a web that blocked the sunlight.
Though Vania was trying to keep her mana for a fight, she most likely knew was going to be prolonged.
The fire Erik started was still raging; in fact, it was consuming more and more of the forest, washing the shadows and illuminating the battlefield.
Erik spun between two chains as they closed in on him. He felt their power surge past him as they missed. Behind him, a gigantic oak tree met the chains—it split into four pieces and crashed to the ground, making the earth shake.
The ninth hydra's head made a wind blade that sliced toward Vania from multiple angles, aiming for the joints and weaknesses in her armor. The tenth used telekinesis to coordinate Erik's flight and coordinated the entire assault, making split-second adjustments based on Vania's responses.
The number of attacks both sent to each other was astronomical and apocalypse-inducing, but both always evaded them, with Erik actually creating barriers to prevent damage, barriers that were always destroyed by the woman.
It was the same even now. Vania detected the attack through some kind of primal sense. She launched herself upward, using her bone armor to extend plates that intercepted several of the invisible blades. Those that got through sliced shallow grooves in her hide, drawing dark fluid that immediately rejoined her blood armor.
As she ascended, she unleashed her elemental powers in a retaliatory barrage. The ground beneath Erik erupted in stone spikes while the surrounding air filled with super-heated steam.
Blood spears formed from the fluid coating her body, launching toward him like heat-seeking missiles, and were followed by the blood chains.
<How the fuck can she use this much mana?>
[It looks like the serum made her mana regen higher than a human. It would be interesting to see how she is doing it. Remember to take her body once we are done with her. I might find a way to replicate these effects.]
Of course, Erik didn't let the system repeat itself. If he could get his hands on something like that, with the Chimaeric Demons and Essence Flow, he would truly have infinite mana.

Not that he didn't have it now, but Vania showed him that without the necessary attribute points, all that mana, all that power, wasn't as effective as he wanted.
The reason was simple. Vania rarely let herself get hit, and even if she did, she used her powers to prevent damage. That, and her increased mana regen, though much weaker than Erik's, made her able to resist.
The battle wasn't easy for both of them, and while Erik had the mana and power advantage, she had the body advantage.
Erik used his Absolute Wall to shield himself, deflecting the blood spears and chains alike. But Vania used some kind of fire attack. The heat was so intense that the steam scalded his skin.
Then Erik retaliated. Thousands of ice spears, stone projectiles, wind blades, and fireballs appeared in the air. There were thousands of each, reaching the tens of thousands. Yet Vania moved so fast and so far that Erik couldn't even aim at her.
Each attack ended up hitting the empty air and landing on the trees and the rocks that were behind her and destroying the ground where she just stood, creating vast craters that affected the battle the Blackguard and his clones were having.
Vania landed on top of one of the earth pillars Erik had created, her clawed feet digging into the stone for purchase.
