Billionaire in Love: From Divorce to Destiny -
Chapter 3 - "She's My Wife Now, You're Just Her Sister"
Chapter 3. “She’s My Wife Now, You’re Just Her Sister”
Ye Chen shook his head. “She’s busy shopping. If you have something to say, say it to me.”
“Our divorce has nothing to do with her.”
“We split because we weren’t compatible. What could you possibly have to say to her?”
Bai Xiyi’s face darkened. “Not compatible? Because you were too lazy! Too unmotivated!”
“Was it wrong to want you to strive for more? You had so much talent, why wouldn’t you push yourself harder?”
“If you’d just put in the effort, you could’ve been exceptional! I didn’t want you wasting your gifts!”
Ye Chen pressed his lips together. “Let me repeat: We’re divorced. The papers are right here.”
“Xiyan is my wife now. I won’t rehash the past with you.”
“If you can accept that, stay for dinner. If not, take your things and leave.”
“Xiyan’s calling me to help pick groceries. I’m hanging up.”
Before Bai Xiyi could retort, he ended the call.
As the line went dead, Ye Chen exhaled, his shoulders relaxing. He strode toward the fish stall, where Bai Xiyan stood with a basket of vegetables.
“Honey, who was that?” she asked softly, her smile warm.
“Just a friend,” he said, taking the bag from her. “The sea bass looks fresh. Let’s steam it with your pickled radishes, perfect combo.”
Bai Xiyan beamed, linking her arm with his. “Mhm! We’ll get the bass and some radishes. I’ll make them extra spicy for you.”
Ye Chen grinned. “Then I’ll make your favorite sweet-and-sour ribs and a light tofu soup.”
She rested her head against his shoulder. “Sounds perfect.”
Ten minutes later, arms laden with groceries, they left the market and climbed into his black Mercedes G-Class.
As the engine roared to life, Ye Chen finally said, “Xiyan… your sister knows about us. She was at our place earlier, might still be there.”
Bai Xiyan froze, then forced a smile. “She’d find out eventually.”
“But… she’s scary. And a taekwondo black belt.”
“If she hits me, you have to protect me. But don’t hurt her, she’s still my sister.”
Ye Chen ruffled her hair. “Don’t worry. You’re my wife now. She’s just… family.”
A sigh escaped him.
Regret.
If only he hadn’t accepted Bai Xiyi’s pursuit years ago, he’d have spared himself a miserable marriage and this tangled mess.
Gritting his teeth, he pushed the thought away and glanced at Bai Xiyan. Though she still smiled, shadows lurked in her eyes.
Bai Xiyi.
You’re not my wife anymore. Try anything, and I won’t hold back like before.
His grip tightened on the wheel as he drove home.
Meanwhile, in the Kitchen
Bai Xiyi’s spare phone lay shattered on the floor.
Silent, expressionless, she dragged a cleaver across the whetstone, screech, screech, screech, her eyes blazing with cold fury.
Livestream comments exploded:
“Damn, she’s terrifying! I’m here for it!”
“Xiyi, wait till that bastard gets home, CHOP HIM!”
“Castrate him first!”
“Y’all are unhinged. Murder’s illegal!”
“Face it, they’re jealous. You’re gorgeous, successful, and had a hot husband.”
“Truth. If not for these vultures egging you on, you wouldn’t have divorced.”
“Objectively? Your ex was a catch, successful, cooks, handsome. Where else’d you find that?”
“Too late for regrets now. You let them talk you into divorce. Live with it.”
Each word stabbed deeper.
Pride kept her voice steady. “To you, Ye Chen’s ‘good enough.’ Not to me.”
“He’s a student content with 90/100. I wanted one who’d fight for 100.”
“I. Don’t. Regret. The. Divorce.”
Her bloodshot eyes betrayed her.
Lies.
She’d regretted it the moment they left the courthouse.
But pride choked apologies. She’d waited, prayed, for him to crawl back.
Instead, he married her sister.
Now, she gripped the cleaver and marched to the living room.
“Fine. If Xiyan wants him, she can have him.”
“But today, Ye Chen answers to ME.”
