Chapter 15 - Bai Xiyi Cried

Chapter 15. Bai Xiyi Cried

“Ye Chen, what are you trying to do?”

“Are you trying to kill me or something?”

“Don’t you know this is illegal?”

As the yacht drifted farther away, leaving nothing but the endless sea behind, Bai Xiyi completely panicked.

Ye Chen frowned. “Shut up!”

“There’s a shark near you! You’d better hold onto something. If you fall into the water, that shark will tear you to pieces!”

Instantly, Bai Xiyi’s face paled.

She frantically grabbed the railing, her eyes darting around.

Soon, she spotted the triangular fin cutting through the water.

Her face turned deathly white.

“Sh-shark?”

“Wahhh—”

“Save me! A-Chen, come save me! I’m scared!”

At that moment, the queenly persona she had forced upon herself shattered completely.

Watching her breakdown, Ye Chen sighed in exasperation.

“What’s the big deal? You’re on the yacht. The shark can’t hurt you right now. Why are you freaking out?”

???

Bai Xiyi froze.

She stared at the shark in the water, then at the yacht beneath her feet, and finally at Ye Chen’s calm expression. Suddenly, she regained her composure.

“Oh… right. I’m on the yacht. The shark can’t get me.”

She muttered under her breath, then casually threw a fork and knife at the shark.

“Scram! You nearly scared me to death!”

In the water, the shark seemed to understand. It immediately dove beneath the surface and vanished.

Just as everyone let out a sigh of relief—

BANG!

Another loud crash!

The yacht rocked violently. Bai Xiyi’s legs gave out, and she nearly tumbled into the sea, prompting screams all around.

“Ahh!”

“Sis, get inside the cabin now!”

“Xiyi, be careful!”

“The shark’s still here! It’s ramming the yacht!”

“Quick! Do something!”

Amid the chaos, Ye Chen turned calmly to the driver.

“Hey, get to the cockpit and steer us toward that other yacht! Be careful—if we collide, we’re all dead today!”

The driver nodded hastily.

“Got it! I’ll be careful!”

VROOM—

The yacht slowly started moving, veering toward the right.

Ye Chen ruffled Bai Xiyan’s hair.

“Xiyan, all of you—get inside the cabin. I’ll handle the shark.”

Bai Xiyan frowned, glancing at her sister before tugging Ye Chen’s hand.

She whispered, “Husband, please be careful!”

Ye Chen chuckled. “Don’t worry. I’ve got this.”

Bai Xiyan didn’t say more. Instead, she quickly kissed his cheek before retreating into the cabin, her face full of worry.

Slowly, the yacht approached another vessel.

The tension thickened.

Ye Chen gripped a harpoon, tying its rope to the railing.

His eyes locked onto the triangular fin gliding through the water, adjusting the harpoon’s aim with precision.

“Breathe in… breathe out…”

At that moment, all distractions faded. He could only hear his own breathing and see the moving fin.

Then—

“Hah!”

With a sharp exhale, his spine straightened like a dragon’s, channeling immense power from his legs through his core and into his right arm.

“Whoosh!”

The harpoon shot forward like a meteor.

“Splash!”

The water split apart.

The next second—

“BOOM!”

A massive spray erupted as the shark, now impaled, thrashed violently and dove deep.

Ye Chen tightened his grip on the rope, planting his feet firmly in a horse stance.

“Steady!”

“I got the shark!”

“Today, I’m hauling this beast in!”

Excitement burned in his eyes as he braced against the shark’s pull.

The rope snapped taut.

“TWANG!”

Water droplets scattered as Ye Chen’s muscles strained against the shark’s raw strength.

“CRACK!”

The yacht lurched, dragged forward by the struggling shark.

The railing where the rope was tied groaned, bending slightly under the force.

Ye Chen, gripping the middle of the rope, acted as a shock absorber, adjusting his stance to counter the shark’s movements.

“VROOM—”

The yacht’s engine roared as it reversed, forcing the shark toward the surface.

The water churned red with blood as the shark fought desperately.

At some point, Bai Xiyan and the other socialites had returned to the deck.

They held up their phones, gasping and recording the spectacle.

“SPLASH!”

The shark, harpoon lodged in its back and held by the barbed hook, broke the surface in a violent spray.

Its jagged teeth gleamed menacingly under the sun.

“Wow! That doesn’t look like a typical shark!”

“It’s not that big, and its stripes look like a tiger’s!”

“Ignoramus! That’s a narrow-banded houndshark! This one’s actually pretty large!”

“Oh, so cultured, yet still hanging out with me?”

“Pfft. Everyone needs a dumb friend to make themselves look smarter.”

“Wow, you’re so sneaky.”

The women bickered while filming.

Bai Xiyan, however, stayed close to Ye Chen, her voice soft with concern.

“Husband, are you okay?”

Ye Chen nodded. “No problem. This houndshark isn’t that strong. I’ve got it.”

Relieved, Bai Xiyan’s face lit up with excitement.

“Husband, you’re amazing! You actually harpooned a shark!”

“Wow, it’s so pretty!”

“Sis, why are you still hiding? Come out and see!”

She called out to Bai Xiyi, who finally took a deep breath and stepped onto the deck.

The sight stunned her.

Ye Chen, rooted in a horse stance, muscles taut as he wrestled the shark into submission.

The creature barely resisted anymore.

Something inside Bai Xiyi stirred.

Memories flashed before her eyes.

Once, before their marriage, she and Ye Chen had gone on a road trip.

A storm had struck, and a falling branch shattered the car’s sunroof.

To shield her from the rain, Ye Chen had stayed awake all night, holding a plastic bag over the broken window.

That night, she had cried silently, waking up multiple times in gratitude.

This scene… felt eerily similar.

“Sniff…”

Bai Xiyi covered her mouth and rushed back into the cabin.

This time, she couldn’t hold back.

She broke down sobbing.
