Chapter 483: Chapter 483: He’s Not Even as Good as a Ghost Now
When the boy heard the unfamiliar voice, he was so frightened that his figure flashed and then disappeared completely.
"Ah..." Wen Xiao’ai had just wanted to call out to the boy when the bodyguard’s voice rang out again.
"Miss Wen? Are you there?"
"Yes, it’s me." Wen Xiao’ai hurriedly hid her cat ears and then stood up.
"Wen Xiao’ai, what are you doing there? Who are you talking to?" One of the bodyguards leaned in and looked around curiously.
"I was just talking to myself. I, I’ve dropped my little bell, and I was picking it up," Wen Xiao’ai blurted out a random excuse.
"Did you find it? Let us help you," said the bodyguards as they offered to come forward and help.
"No need, I found it already." Wen Xiao’ai lifted her hand, which had the little bell, and shook it.
"Then come out quickly, there are lots of mosquitoes there, don’t get bitten." This is Master San’s treasure, they really need to keep watch over her.
"Oh." Wen Xiao’ai could only come out of the flowerbed.
Pretending to head back.
After a few steps and out of the bodyguards’ view, Wen Xiao’ai immediately hid around a corner, waited for the bodyguards to leave, and then ran back into the flowerbed.
She cupped her small hands to her mouth and whispered, "They’re gone, you can come out now."
"Little fox, are you still there?"
"Don’t be afraid, they are not bad people."
Wen Xiao’ai looked around the flowerbed but couldn’t find him, feeling very disappointed.
Just as Wen Xiao’ai was feeling disheartened, the boy’s voice came, "Sister?"
"Hmm?" Wen Xiao’ai’s face lit up, and she immediately searched for the source of the voice.
The boy’s figure appeared in the corner, and Wen Xiao’ai hurried out of the flowerbed and ran straight towards him.
"I thought you had left. Don’t be afraid, they are not bad people, they are all my friends, and they can’t see you," Wen Xiao’ai squatted down in front of him, happy to see that he hadn’t left.
"I know they can’t see me, I, I’m just timid," the boy said embarrassingly.
"Hee hee, no worries, I will protect you from now on, I am quite powerful."
"Thank you," the boy said shyly.
"Let’s go talk in my room, otherwise they might come back later."
"Your room has a barrier, I can’t enter."
"I’ll take you in."
Wen Xiao’ai took the boy back to her room and pushed a pile of her toys forward: "You can play with all of these."
Standing cautiously to one side, the boy looked around the room and, upon seeing that pile of toys, felt a sense of familiarity.
He seemed to have had these toys before.
"I can’t play with these, I can’t touch them," the boy said, reaching out his hand towards the toys, but his hand passed straight through them.
Wen Xiao’ai was stunned and, seeing the boy’s forlorn expression, felt a bit unsettled herself.
"I’m sorry, I, I forgot that you... I’ll get something from the Human Realm for you to eat; their food is really tasty."
Wen Xiao’ai said, about to climb down from the bed, but she quickly remembered, "I forgot you don’t need to eat..."
He was no longer a demon now, not even a ghost, just a remnant soul.
Seeing Wen Xiao’ai’s guilty expression, the boy smiled, "It’s okay, I’m just a sliver of a soul, it’s normal that I can’t do these things."
"Then why do you only have a sliver of a soul left?"
"I don’t know," the boy shook his head.
"What’s your name?"
The boy shook his head again, "I don’t remember anything, I’ve forgotten everything."
