Chapter 401: Chapter 401: The Brother with Pigtails
Brother Xin took it and looked at it, very pleased.
After putting on the clothes, Brother Xin touched his stomach, "Brother Mu Han, I’m hungry."
"I’ll make you something delicious, just wait."
"I want to eat roast chicken." Brother Xin swallowed his saliva.
"Ah, roast chicken, huh?"
"Don’t have any?" Brother Xin touched his rumbling stomach.
"We do, but we have to catch one in the mountains, it’ll take a few hours, and I’m worried you’ll be hungry. How about I make you something else first, and after eating, we’ll go up the mountain to catch wild chickens?"
"Okay."
Mu Han cooked noodles for him, watching Brother Xin eat with relish; Mu Han couldn’t resist pinching his steamed bun face again.
"By the way, Brother Xin, why were you injured on the mountain that day, and all internal injuries at that?"
"I don’t know either, I just somehow ended up in your world." Brother Xin’s mouth was stuffed full, making his chubby bun face even cuter.
"Our world? What do you mean?"
"I’m a demon, naturally, I live in the Demon Realm."
"Ah, then are you going to go back to your own world in the future?"
"I’m not going back. I don’t have family or friends in the Demon Realm, they all laugh at me for being a coward, love to bully me. I want to live here with you, not go back."
"Really?" Mu Han’s eyes shone.
"Mhm." Brother Xin nodded with certainty.
"Good, then I’ll make you roast chicken every day."
"Okay."
"I’ll take you to catch wild chickens on the mountain now."
"Okay." Brother Xin put down his bowl, wiped his mouth haphazardly, then ran to the room.
Soon, Brother Xin came out wearing the backpack that Mu Han usually carried when going up the mountain.
"Let’s go."
"Wait, your hair... isn’t it too long, like a girl’s? Shall I cut it for you?" Mu Han stepped forward and lifted Brother Xin’s long hair to look.
"Don’t, demons in our tribe all keep our hair long, it can’t be cut."
"Then let me tie it up for you."
"Okay."
Mu Han ran to get a comb and clumsily tied Brother Xin’s hair with two cotton strings.
A few minutes later, Brother Xin looked at himself in the mirror, with his hair tied into high twin ponytails, and frowned at Mu Han.
"Brother Mu Han, this doesn’t look good."
"I think it looks very nice." Mu Han held back a laugh, wanting to tease him.
Brother Xin looked at himself in the mirror again, "Then let’s keep it this way."
If Mu Han said it looked nice, then he would keep it that way.
Mu Han originally wanted to tease him for a bit, thinking he would retie it soon, but he didn’t expect Brother Xin to actually agree.
So he didn’t retie it, resulting in Brother Xin keeping the twin ponytail hairstyle all the time.
The two packed up their things and headed up the mountain.
"By the way, Brother Xin, what was your name before?"
"I am called Moran."
"Moran? That’s a nice name."
"Brother Mu Han, do you think master will be scared when he comes back and sees me like this?"
"Don’t worry, he won’t be. Master has seen much more than I have."
The drunkard took a deep breath, reached for a bottle of liquor on the ground, opened it, and started chugging again.
"And then?" Jun Moyan looked at the drunkard who had stopped.
"After that... after that..." The drunkard’s eyes flashed with those shattered memories, and his heart ached violently.
It was the nightmare he never wanted to recall for the rest of his life.
"After that, because of an accident, the demon sacrificed himself to save the boy and died."
The drunkard uttered these words lightly, in sharp contrast to the animated way he spoke about their happy life together before, as if he was a completely different person from the one immersed in the story.
