Chapter 356: Chapter 356: Marrying Gu Yao, Entering the Gu Family Ancestral Hall to Retrieve Something
"Age doesn’t matter when it comes to education; it’s ’learn till old, live till old.’ You can always re-enroll in school. If you really give up now, you’ll definitely regret it later," Ais said.
"Actually, a few days ago, I received an acceptance letter from an art school in the United Kingdom. They admitted me exceptionally..." But she couldn’t bear to go, she didn’t want to leave.
The person she cared about was still here.
"You’re going abroad?"
Ais frowned slightly; she couldn’t leave. If she left, how would he fulfill the task assigned by that person?
That person really, with all his incredible skills, easily came and went into the Gu Family’s ancestral hall. Wasn’t it easy for him to get whatever he wanted?
Yet, he insisted on Ais doing it.
Non-family members couldn’t enter the Gu Family’s ancestral hall. Could it really mean that he had to marry this woman? Become a part of the Gu Family?
But Ais, though not a good person, felt that deceiving a girl’s feelings was too despicable.
Ais silently cursed that person in his heart.
"I do want to leave, to take a break and adjust my mindset, but I also don’t want to go," Gu Yao was very conflicted.
"Abroad might be good, but it’s not as comfortable as home. We have everything here that you would have there, just to adjust your mindset; there’s no need to run so far."
"Exactly, just to adjust my mindset, there’s no need to run so far..." Gu Yao murmured to herself.
Everyone else took it lightly, yet you acted as if the sky were falling—truly useless.
The two of them stopped talking and walked along the beach for a while.
Seeing that it was about time, Gu Yao prepared to head back.
"Will you be here tomorrow?"
"What happened?" Ais asked.
"I want to come here to paint tomorrow."
It seemed like she didn’t want to leave yet.
Ais didn’t answer immediately; instead, he seriously thought for a moment before saying, "I have time tomorrow afternoon."
"Then let’s meet here tomorrow afternoon..." Gu Yao started but suddenly remembered something and somewhat embarrassedly changed her words, "Maybe let’s not."
"What happened?"
"My second brother doesn’t like me getting too close to others; I don’t want to cause you unnecessary trouble."
"Your second brother?"
"Hmm."
"Does he control you a lot? He doesn’t seem like someone who would like to manage others’ affairs."
Gu Yao smiled but said nothing.
That was only the Gu Sheng you saw, the Second Young Master Gu.
Ais felt disgusted inside, thinking Gu Sheng really was psychologically twisted.
Liking someone yet not admitting it, and still insisting on keeping them all to himself.
Not able to have what he wanted, yet not allowing others to have it either.
Could it mean he would never let her marry? To die old in the Gu Family?
"Since it’s inconvenient, let’s forget it," Ais said nonchalantly.
Yet inside, he was again thinking of other ways to get close to her without her noticing.
"It’s getting late; I need to head back now."
"Hmm, be careful on the way home." Ais didn’t offer to walk her home, as being overly diligent could backfire.
"Hmm, by the way, I haven’t had the chance to ask your name," Gu Yao suddenly remembered.
"Ais," Ais said with a smile, extending his hand towards her.
Gu Yao looked at the hand extended in front of her and generously extended hers, shaking it briefly.
"Gu Yao."
The two exchanged smiles and simultaneously let go of each other’s hands.
"Then I’m leaving, thank you for the painting," Gu Yao said, waving the hand holding the painting at him.
"Hmm."
Gu Yao didn’t linger, turning around to leave.
Ais stood there, watching Gu Yao’s receding figure, his eyes no longer clear and sincere as when he was facing her.
"Trouble."
Ais muttered the two words and turned away.
