Chapter 33: Chapter 33 Difficult to Serve
"Taste it?" Qing Yi scooped out a small handful from the can and stretched it towards Wen Xiao’ai.
"Eww—" Wen Xiao’ai made a retching gesture, sticking out her little tongue.
This time, she really hoped he would understand.
She feared this human would take advantage of her lack of mana and force-feed her these things.
"Big Brother Qing Yi, it seems like it doesn’t like this cat food," Xiaocha whispered.
"Doesn’t like to eat? That’s strange, if a cat doesn’t eat cat food, what does it eat?" Qing Yi poured the cat food back into the can.
He then tried a different brand of cat food, but the result was the same.
In the end, after trying every single brand, the cat still refused to eat any of it.
"What exactly do you want to eat?" Qing Yi felt somewhat disheartened.
Could it be this cat had never eaten such good cat food before, so it was scared to eat it?
Or could it be that it used to eat even better, and now it disdains this?
Thinking about its retching gesture, the latter seemed more likely.
"Does it eat dried little fish?" Bai Yi suggested on the side, muttering to himself: More troublesome than Third Young Master.
"Dried little fish?" Qing Yi was taken aback, then something dawned on him: "I almost forgot."
He said, rummaging through a big bag of stuff and pulling out a box.
Upon opening it, the strong scent of fish nearly overwhelmed Wen Xiao’ai.
Looking at the dried fish offered before her, Wen Xiao’ai felt like she was losing her mind.
"Meow—"
Wen Xiao’ai let out an irritable meow, her teeth bared.
She even stepped back, her entire body emanating "resistance."
"What to do, it’s not eating," Qing Yi said, putting the dried fish aside.
His face spoke volumes of his helplessness.
"Maybe it’s not hungry yet. Just leave the food there; who knows, it might eat when it gets hungry," Bai Yi mumbled.
"It’s still so young, how would it know to eat on its own?" Qing Yi scoffed, finding Bai Yi reliable as ever.
"This is the Third Young Master’s cat, we must take good care of it."
Xiaocha dug out a can of milk powder and a baby bottle from the bag, shaking it in front of Wen Xiao’ai to ask tentatively:
"Do you drink milk?"
Qing Yi glanced at the items in Xiaocha’s hands and then happily turned his gaze away, not holding much hope.
He wondered if the little kitten was homesick, missing its mother.
"Meow—"
However, the next moment, unexpectedly, the little kitten finally nodded her proud little head.
Seeing they had finally found something the cat was willing to eat, Xiaocha felt a small surge of joy.
"I’ll go mix a bottle for you," she said, taking the milk powder and baby bottle and running off.
"If I knew earlier, I would have dumped all these things out and let you pick whatever you wanted to eat," Qing Yi said, amused.
He then took out a cat teaser wand and a colorful ball.
Wen Xiao’ai poked at the colorful ball in front of her with her little paw and then looked at Qing Yi, who kept teasing her with the wand, and couldn’t help her mouth twitching.
Childish!
These toys, the Princess had stopped playing with them by the age of three.
Bai Yi kept watching Wen Xiao’ai, the way she twisted her mouth in contempt, that disdainful cat expression... It gave Bai Yi the shivers.
This cat... could it be it had become a spirit?
It wasn’t long before Xiaocha came running back with the baby bottle.
Upon seeing it, Wen Xiao’ai immediately stretched out her two little paws, eagerly grabbing the bottle toward herself.
Then she sat on the desk, hugging the bottle and began to drink.
It was this taste.
She hadn’t drunk it for such a long time.
Her species, the Cat Demon Clan, did not grow like ordinary cats; they grew slower in the early stages.
Slower than humans too.
Well, they were demons, after all, different.
