"Let’s go, let’s get to work, you lazy Qing Yi. You’re always the least busy," Bai Yi complained, feeling quite aggrieved.

"Me, lazy? Which eye of yours saw me being idle? I manage all the big and small matters in Wu Garden; I help with the company affairs, too. I’m both a housekeeper and a special assistant. You really don’t know the half of it, standing there talking without your back hurting."

"My back is actually hurting quite a bit. How about you come to my room tonight and give it a rub?" Bai Yi asked, coaxingly looping his arm through Qing Yi’s.

Qing Yi saw right through his little scheme and withdrew his hand:

"Get real. Did you get scared by some horror novel again and now you’re too afraid to sleep alone at night?"

"It’s your fault for recommending them to me," Bai Yi said with a face full of resentment.

"I’m amazed by you: usually so bold, yet you’re frightened of these non-existent things like a little girl. I’d rather not share a bed with you; last time I did, it left me traumatized. I probably won’t even dare to let my future wife hold me in her sleep."

Qing Yi looked at him with disdain.

Damn, last time he begged to sleep together, in the middle of the night, he almost strangled me.

It almost made him think he was having sleep paralysis.

"Fine, don’t keep me company. I’ll find Drunkard to sleep with me." He definitely wasn’t brave enough to sleep alone tonight.

He still felt a bit creeped out.

"You’re not allowed."

"I’ll sleep with Drunkard; what’s it to you? Why aren’t I allowed?"

"Enough joking around. What’s the deal with that cat?" chimed in Hong Yi, who had been silent until now.

"That cat?"

Upon hearing that, Bai Yi remembered all the bizarre events of the evening and couldn’t help shivering.

Luckily, Qing Yi was with him, or he wouldn’t even think about sleeping tonight.
