Chapter 173: Chapter 173: The Humanoid Appears and Disappears
Jun Moyan glanced at the medicine bottle but did not reach for it immediately, simply nodding his head slightly, "Mhm."
Then he continued to feed Wen Xiao’ai.
"Have you had any problems with your body these past few days?"
"No."
"Then that’s good." The drunkard ate something casually and said he was going back to catch up on sleep.
——That night, Jun Moyan came out of the bathroom, picked up the small medicine bottle on the bedside table, looked at it, and eventually put it back without any intention of taking it.
"Xiaoguai, if you wake up before I do tomorrow, go find Xiaocha by yourself, and don’t call me, okay?"
Before going to sleep, Jun Moyan reminded Wen Xiao’ai.
He wanted to figure out in his dreams exactly what the "Huge Beast" was.
Because he always felt that the creature, looking like a Divine Beast, could indeed exist in reality.
As for where it existed, perhaps it was in that hell-like place.
He was an atheist and didn’t believe in ghosts or deities, but the strange occurrences of late made it hard for him to remain skeptical.
He had also considered whether all of this was a trap, whether the thing that had appeared on his chest, as Qing Yi said, was meant to control people.
It could cause him to fall into nightmares continuously, then to keep sleeping, never to wake up again.
Yet he always felt an inexplicable connection to that hell-like place, including the Divine Beast-like creature.
He would take another look in his dreams.
"Meow-meow~" Wen Xiao’ai shook her head.
No way, why is it that you can sleep in but when I did it before, you punished me?
Wen Xiao’ai sat on the bed, her two little front paws on her waist, indicating that this was very unfair.
"Be good." Jun Moyan stroked her little head.
"Meow."
Hmph, lazybones, if I don’t call, so be it, let you starve.
Just as Jun Moyan had hoped, as soon as he fell asleep, he arrived at that place.
He saw the Forgetful River, crossed the Naihe Bridge, and met the "Huge Beast" again, but just like the last two times, when his hand was about to touch it, he was inexplicably startled awake.
Jun Moyan furrowed his brows, unable to articulate his frustration.
It was always just a bit short.
Calming himself from the agitation, he washed up and went downstairs, only to find Wen Xiao’ai missing.
"Where’s Xiaoguai?" Jun Moyan asked Xiaocha.
"Xiaoguai went out for a walk after lunch, she promised me she’d be back within half an hour," Xiaocha replied.
Jun Moyan glanced at the table full of food, not feeling much appetite, so he turned to go look for Wen Xiao’ai.
In a flowerbed, Wen Xiao’ai was hiding in the bushes.
She sat on the ground with her eyes closed, her two little front paws together, on her chest, surrounded by a pale purple halo.
Faintly, the form of a young girl appeared intermittently on her body, but it seemed so ethereal, as if it would scatter with a gust of wind.
The girl’s form lasted a few seconds before Wen Xiao’ai opened her eyes and then excitedly waved her little paws, happily wriggling her little body.
Just a little bit more, just a little bit more.
"Xiaoguai?"
A familiar voice called out.
Wen Xiao’ai immediately snapped back from her excitement and stood up, crawling out of the flowerbed.
Upon seeing Jun Moyan, she immediately ran towards him.
Jun Moyan bent down to pick her up, reaching out to clean the dead leaves sticking to her body.
"What were you doing in there, see how dirty you’ve gotten."
"Meow-meow-meow~"
Wen Xiao’ai was very happy, rubbing against him non-stop in his arms, her two little ears moving back and forth.
"What’s made you so happy?" Seeing her joy, Jun Moyan’s mood also brightened.
