Chapter 703 - Chapter 703 703
Chapter 703: 703 Chapter 703: 703 Feng Jun’s three companions hesitated for three to four seconds before Guan Shanyue finally shone the large emergency light over.
“Is this… a wolf? Why are its teeth black, and so frightening?”
By this time, Feng Jun had already charged up seven or eight energy points, enough to enter the mobile phone plane once more.
However, upon hearing these words, he directly pulled out a stone rod and smashed it down fiercely.
If this blow could do the job, it would save his energy points, and if not, there should still be some stunning effect, right?
He could take advantage of this stunning effect to enter the mobile phone plane and charge up some more energy points.
By the time he returned to the Earth Plane, would he not then be able to do whatever he wanted with the Nether Wolf’s corpse?
Of course, if he had a choice, he would still prefer to kill the Nether Wolf on Earth, after all, there were too many powerful beings in that other plane, with many unknown methods at their disposal; it would be troublesome if he got discovered.
Fortunately, after the blow was struck, the Nether Wolf’s head exploded like a watermelon, and immediately after, its body gradually turned into gas and vanished into the air.
“This is…” Guan Shanyue inhaled sharply, “It truly transformed from Yin Energy.”
Feng Jun turned to look at her, “Director Guan is quite knowledgeable about these things?”
Guan Shanyue nodded her head, admitting frankly, “The heritage of my Danxia Heaven is a bit different from others.”
At that moment, Xu Lei nudged Feng Jun with his elbow, gesturing towards a certain direction with his chin.
He wasn’t in the mood to discuss these matters; his attention was entirely on the wolf that had been killed. Seeing that after the wolf vanished, a round, greenish-black bead appeared on the ground, he couldn’t help but tip Feng Jun off.
However, very unfortunately for him, he was currently a giant human-shaped torch. Despite the Golden Armor Charm having dimmed significantly, it was still quite conspicuous in the cave. He would have been better off not signalling, but with that one nudge, even Guan Shanyue noticed his action.
But that said, the male Taoist was also watching the Nether Wolf, what Xu Lei could see, he could see too.
Seeing the bead, Guan Shanyue leaned forward slightly but ultimately did not step forward; instead, she asked aloud, “Senior Feng… what is this bead?”
Feng Jun didn’t know what the bead was called either, thinking to himself what sort of setup this was; do monsters drop loot now?
Nonetheless, he still cleared his throat, “You all step back a bit, this bead is not something you can touch… I’ll examine it.”
Then, using the cover of his body, he swiped his mobile phone, “So it’s a Nether Bead… Director Guan, how about I take this bead?”
“Nether Bead… what is that?” Guan Shanyue’s eyebrows furrowed, but she quickly came to terms, “If the bead is useful to you, Senior Feng, feel free to take it. I just want to know, what exactly does this bead do?”
She wasn’t uninterested in the bead, but she was very aware of how powerful Feng Jun’s attacks had been that day.
Those apocalyptic, rapid flashes of lightning and thunder–who could do that?
He had clearly stated when issuing his warning that the slain entity of Yin was of the Dust-free cultivation level.
The item concealed within a Dust-free level being of Yin couldn’t be inferior, but could Senior Feng exterminate a being of Dust-free level without paying a price?
Guan Shanyue was certain that if she wanted the Nether Bead, she would need to compensate Feng Jun’s losses handsomely, otherwise, she would be acting very inappropriately.
However, never mind doubling the compensation, Director Guan seriously doubted if even without doubling, Danxia Heaven could afford it.
So, she decisively expressed–You can take the bead, I just want to know, what is this bead actually.
By understanding the nature of the bead, firstly, she could increase her knowledge, and secondly… its value could be better estimated. If Senior Feng was getting a much better end of the deal, Magu Mountain could then have a rough estimate of the favor they owed.
Feng Jun pondered for a moment before speaking, “This Nether Bead… how should I put it? It’s particularly useful for ghost cultivation, and for Netherworld Cultivators, it’s good for making Netherworld artifacts or nurturing little ghosts, but if controlled improperly…”
“That’s fine, just take it,” Guan Shanyue waved her hand, hastily interrupting, “It has no fate with my Danxia Heaven.”
Ghost cultivation is the practice of lonely souls and wandering ghosts, and Netherworld Cultivators grow stronger by nurturing ghosts. Most of these methods are essentially considered unorthodox.
The male disciple felt a bit regretful and couldn’t help but speak up, “Can’t this item be changed into a magic artifact for capturing ghosts?”
Feng Jun looked at him and stated bluntly, “A magic artifact for capturing ghosts? I don’t want to upset you, but you really can’t control it, I’ll put it frankly… if you can pick up this bead, then I don’t want it.”
The male Taoist was actually a bit unconvinced; he was a beginner level Martial Artist, and his combat ability was one of the best in Magu Mountain, so he stepped forward two paces, willing to give it a try.
However, he had just passed Feng Jun when he felt an icy chill from the Yin Energy in front, involuntarily shuddering.
Feng Jun snorted lightly, “You can try to grab it with your clothes as a barrier, but I warn you, fabric can’t block Yin Energy… once tainted by Yin Energy, even if it can be cured, your vital energy will be greatly damaged.”
The male disciple hesitated for a moment but didn’t use clothing to cushion his hands. Instead, he stepped forward two more paces and bent down to look at the Nether Bead.
As soon as he bent over, he quickly retreated two steps and shivered, giving Feng Jun a cupped fist salute, wanting to say something, but his teeth were chattering non-stop.
Feng Jun raised his hand, sending out a stream of Inner Qi, and then said in a deep voice, “Good thing you retreated quickly.”
The male Taoist felt a warm current flood his body in an instant, reviving his spirit.
He saluted once more and said earnestly, “Thank you, Senior Feng, for your timely rescue. It was my offense earlier.”
Feng Jun smiled indifferently and then casually pointed out, “Don’t think I won easily, see… It destroyed two of my Formations.”
In fact, the appearance of the Spirit Binding Array had already caught the attention of the three, as it had appeared out of nowhere, and there had been no miscellaneous items in this space before it.
And when the Spirit Binding Array was destroyed, there were certain signs, but Feng Jun’s Falling Thunder Technique was too violent. In comparison, the signs of the Spirit Binding Array’s destruction had been overshadowed.
Guan Shanyue held a large emergency light, scanning the remnants of the Spirit Binding Array, and asked curiously, “What kind of Formation is this?”
Feng Jun did not reveal the name of the Formation outright but answered, “It can trap someone in the Qi Refining Initial Stage.”
The two from Magu Mountain were growing increasingly speechless–being in the Qi Refinement Realm was already enough to be called a Great Cultivator, yet this Formation of yours could trap someone in the Qi Refining Initial Stage?
It was bad enough that it could trap someone in the Qi Refining Initial Stage, but to have two such Formations and then… to destroy them so easily?
Guan Shanyue felt that not wanting the Nether Bead was indeed the right choice. Otherwise, she would have had to compensate for Feng Jun’s losses–just these two Formations alone, Magu Mountain couldn’t afford to compensate.
The next moment, she changed the subject, “I wonder if there are still Yin beings inside the cave now?”
Feng Jun raised his hand to put away the Nether Bead and, with another move, collected the remains of the Spirit Binding Array, “I want to take a look as well.”
He found it utterly unbelievable that Magu Mountain’s secret land would have a Nether Wolf shut inside; there must be another explanation.
However, before moving forward again, he instructed Guan Shanyue and her companion to keep some distance from them.
Then, he handed Xu Leigang another Golden Armor Charm, “Use it when you need to, don’t hold back.”
Guan Shanyue looked at the Talisman with great envy, “Senior Feng, do you have any more of these Talismans?”
“Really, I don’t,” Feng Jun replied with a wry smile, shaking his head. In his mind, he thought that this one was also temporarily swapped, “If I can come across another opportunity later, sending you a couple wouldn’t be too much.”
He wasn’t sure about the price of the Nether Bead dropped by a Yin being in the Ascending Dust Realm, but it was easy to assume that if he could sell it to the right person, it would certainly not come cheap. Compared to that, what was a mere Golden Armor Charm?
The four continued on their way, this time more slowly, as no one could be sure whether more Yin beings would appear.
When they reached the previous spot, Feng Jun was the first to stop, muttering, “Damn…”
Ahead, several green dots appeared again, hurling themselves toward him.
Then, everyone repeated the previous steps, though with previous experience, the teamwork was better, and they retreated quickly. Before the Golden Armor Charm on Xu Leigang’s body faded, the three had made it back to the Stone Gate.
Only Feng Jun was still over four meters from the Stone Gate. He didn’t dare use the Falling Thunder Technique again but instead went to the Otherworld and moved another Spirit Binding Array over.
The Spirit Binding Array blocked the Nether Bees that kept coming from behind, and on this side, Feng Jun eliminated each Nether Bee that had rushed over before finally stepping out of the Stone Gate.
The four retreated to safety, and the little Daoist Nun put away the drawing, rolling it up, causing the Stone Gate to disappear as well.
By now, the sky had already darkened, and as the group hurried back to where the Sun Umbrellas were placed, it started to drizzle again.
With a large emergency light in Guan Shanyue’s hand and a powerful flashlight in Feng Jun’s, everyone walked under their umbrellas at a moderate pace toward the observatory. The entire way, however, nobody seemed in the mood for conversation.
After walking for a while, Guan Shanyue finally sighed softly, “Senior Feng, what do you think could have caused my Danxia Heaven’s secret land to… turn out like this?”
“How would I know?” Feng Jun replied with a wry smile and a shake of his head. “One thing is for sure, though, only a Cultivator in the Ascending Dust Realm should consider entering the secret land. Those in the Qi Refinement Realm… are likely to meet with disaster.”
“Could it be because the inscriptions are no longer effective?” Guan Shanyue began to ponder her own involvement, as she was someone willing to self-criticize.
The ancient inscriptions were destroyed, and the new ones, even though they were exact replicas, were essentially high-grade counterfeits. And evidently, these counterfeits weren’t reliable.
She surmised that if the ancient inscriptions had remained, perhaps they could have subdued those Yin beings.
Feng Jun, too, didn’t dare to deny this speculation outright but could only offer another wry smile, “I don’t know about that, but fortunate for us that I was here today. If it had been anyone else… at least you three would have been in danger.”
(The old man has been hospitalized again, which is depressing. I’ll have to postpone adding more chapters for a while.)
