Chapter 117: What the hell is going on here?!
The heavy doors to Lupien’s chambers swung open with a loud bang.
The Empress Luna strode in, fury etched on her face and only then did Lupien rise from atop Sorayah giving her the ability to stand up immediately too.
"What the hell is going on here?!"
"Greetings, Empress Luna," Sorayah said with a strained voice, her throat tight as she bowed deeply, her hands trembling slightly at her sides.
"How dare a lowly maid like you make your way into the Alpha Emperor’s bed?" Luna hissed, her voice sharp. "You crawled into the Beta Lord’s chambers, and now the Alpha Emperor? You sly little fox!" She snapped her fingers in a silent command.
One of her maids stepped forward without hesitation, raising her hand high, preparing to strike Sorayah.
"You wish for your hands to be cut off?" Lupien said, his voice resounding through the room. "I assume you’ve grown tired of them?"
The maid entire body seized. Her hand froze in the air before she dropped to her knees with a thud, trembling uncontrollably, her head bowed in fear.
Lupien reached for Sorayah and pulled her into his lap with a single motion. A jolt of shock surged through her as her back collided with his chest. Her spine stiffened, her hands gripping the edge of his robe. The Empress Luna stood frozen, her eyes wide with disbelief.
Sorayah struggled to rise, but Lupien’s arm tightened around her waist, holding her firm.
"What brings you here, Empress?" he asked at last, his voice cold as ice. "This is the first time I’ve seen you awake so early. Did something important prompt this visit?"
"What’s wrong, Your Highness? Am I not allowed to visit my husband?" Luna scoffed bitterly. Her voice was laced with sarcasm and suppressed pain. "And when, may I ask, is that filthy maid going to finish her punishment? Or is she now your favorite?"
Lupien’s lips curled into a mocking smirk. "Since you clearly have nothing of importance to say, leave. I don’t have time to waste on your petty tantrums."
His eyes flicked toward Sorayah. "Prepare me for court."
Sorayah gave a small nod and quietly stepped off his lap, heading toward the exit.
But Luna’s voice cracked behind her, raw with emotion. "What did I do to deserve this treatment, Your Highness?" she cried, her voice shaking. "Since the day we married, you’ve refused to touch me, refused to share a bed with me! How am I supposed to bear you an heir....give you a prince when you treat me like a stranger?"
Sorayah halted at the door, her breath caught in her throat. She didn’t dare turn around, but she listened.
"Instead of spending time with your wife, you waste your nights on slaves and servants," Luna continued, tears streaking down her cheeks. "You humiliate me at every opportunity. What is my crime, your highness? What have I done to deserve this punishment?"
Lupien exhaled a slow, bored sigh, the smirk never leaving his face. "You chose to marry me, Rose. Don’t act like a victim now. You wanted the ’Luna’ title....you schemed and manipulated your way into becoming Empress Luna. And now that you’ve got what you wanted, what more could you possibly ask for?"
"I ask only for your affection! Your respect!" Rose shouted, voice hoarse. "Is that so much? Am I that unlovable? I gave up my family, my freedom, and my dignity for you. I’ve been locked in this palace for your sake, and you...."
She choked on her words, shaking with fury and sorrow. "Will you only show me love when I’ve died from loneliness? I’m not just your Empress. I’m your wife! You are not just the Alpha Emperor....you are my husband too, so act like one!"
"Eunuch," Lupien said, his voice sharp as steel, "remove the Empress. She’s starting to bore me."
Two guards and a pale eunuch entered, bowing respectfully.
"Please, Your Highness," the eunuch said softly, "you must leave now."
"If she refuses," Lupien added coolly, "use force. You have my permission."
"Don’t you dare lay a hand on me with your filthy fingers," Rose spat, lifting her chin with defiance. "Touch me and you’ll regret it."
Despite her anger, she turned on her heels and stormed out, casting Sorayah a poisonous glare on her way past.
Sorayah swallowed hard, chest rising and falling with restrained emotion. She resumed her steps toward the exit.
"Come back here," Lupien called out, halting her mid-step.
She turned slowly, eyes wide in confusion.
"There’s no need for you to leave," he said, resting lazily against the edge of the bed. "Servants will bring everything you require. Stay."
With hesitant steps, Sorayah returned to his side, standing silently with her head bowed. She doesn’t want to prolong any matter hence she had no choice than to obey Lupien’s wish.

Meanwhile, back in Anaya’s pack, a heavy silence lingered over the alpha estate.
Anaya lay in bed, her lips stained with fresh blood. Her face pale. She had been bedridden for days. She coughed violently into a handkerchief.
Despite the many doctors summoned to her bedside....healers, herbalists, even witch physicians....none had been able to diagnose her mysterious illness, let alone cure it.
But Anaya knew the truth as well as her parents.
They just dared not say it out loud.
"I’m sorry, Luna Empress... Alpha Emperor," the hundredth doctor stammered, his voice low with guilt and defeat. "But the princess’s illness cannot be treated by a mere physician like me."
The moment the words left his mouth, the atmosphere dropped. Anaya’s parents, seated by her bedside, broke down in tears. The doctor, with a deep and respectful bow, excused himself and quietly left the room.
Anaya, frail and barely clinging to consciousness, forced her trembling hand to reach for a nearby sheet of paper. With all the strength she could muster, she wrote, even as more blood pooled at the corners of her lips, spilling onto the parchment.
"Don’t worry yourselves anymore, Father... Mother... I’m grateful for the love and care you’ve given me these past years. I’m sorry I’ve failed you in the end. Please... forgive me."
Tears streamed down her mother’s cheeks as she clutched the bloodstained paper to her chest.
"We’re not angry at you, Anaya," her mother whispered through sobs, brushing a damp curl from her daughter’s clammy forehead. "You will always be our precious flower."
Her voice cracked as she continued, "I suppose... your aunt’s Eternal Life Pill is the only thing that can save you now."
"What?!" the Alpha Emperor snapped, his eyes narrowing. "You know full well we’ve been enemies for decades. That pill is her most treasured possession. She would never give it up, especially not for my sake."
"She will," the Luna replied, her voice surprisingly steady. "If Anaya is sent to her. You know she’s always loved her niece, even as she despised you. She’s never let your rivalry cloud her affection for Anaya. If she learns that her favorite niece is dying, she’ll give up the pill."
"You want to send Anaya to her?" the Alpha Emperor asked in disbelief, his fists clenched. "Look at her....she’s coughing blood every few hours! Her body’s too weak. Do you want her to die on the road?"
"She’s the only one who can do this," the Luna said, her voice soft but unyielding. "If we send a soldier, your sister will assume it’s a trick....you know how suspicious she is. She’ll have him killed on the spot, believing you sent him to steal her precious medicine."
Without hesitation, the Luna drew a thin blade from her sash and pricked her own finger. She moved closer to Anaya, holding her bleeding fingertip over her daughter’s pale lips.
"Drink this, my flower," she murmured as a drop of her blood fell onto Anaya’s tongue. "My blood will keep you strong for a few more months. It won’t stop the vomiting, but it will give you enough strength to travel."
The Alpha Emperor stared at them both, his expression etched with pain. "This is dangerous, Luna... too dangerous. We can’t possibly send Anaya away."
His wife’s gaze snapped to his, blazing with maternal fury. "If you truly want to save your daughter, then give the order. Tell the guards and the maids to begin preparing for the journey immediately. Because if our child dies while the cure lies in your sister’s hands...if she dies because you hesitated....I will never forgive you."
Her voice dropped, lethal and cold. "I’ll burn your palace to the ground. And I’ll start with your people."
The Alpha Emperor’s breath caught in his throat as he looked down at their daughter... pale, frail, yet still clinging to life.
"Get ready to leave for my sister pack tomorrow morning. Assembly the best of the guards in my pack as well as servants. I want to speak with them all tonight." The Alpha emperor said, his voice directed towards the royal guards outside Anaya’s room.
