Beggar Cultivation System -
Chapter 347 - 347: Understanding the Duplication
Besides wanting to defeat the Translucent Thunder Rat, Apollo also wanted to learn from his opponent, specifically the use of Lightning.
Although he had already learned something from Sir Guo about the Attribute of Lightning, Apollo felt like what he learned was just 'substantial' knowledge, even though he had already mastered the attribute to the point where he could do whatever he wanted with it. Sir Guo said he would teach him more once they found a place where Lightning Attributes were abundant, and that place was very far from this region.
The beggar didn't know how long their journey would take, as he had no idea where that place was. So with a lightning monster in front of him serving as his 'research material,' Apollo wanted to see if he could improve his understanding of the Lightning Attribute further.
With this in mind, Apollo decided not to use all his abilities, merely relying on a few of them.
Using his Revised Simple Movement Technique, his body arrived on top of the head of one of the clones. He pulled his hand back as he used the True Hardening Technique, his body becoming as strong and tough as a small mountain. Then, like a bullet coming out of a gun, his fist crashed against the Translucent Thunder Rat!
The impact sent the clone to the ground, creating a huge crater and causing earthquakes in the surroundings.
Apollo was not a Body Cultivator, so he had to resort to using Battle Techniques in order to raise his physical strength. And with the number of times he had revised the True Hardening Technique, it had transformed into a new one, making his body as tough and hard as a mountain. The beggar was too lazy to give it a new name, so he still called the technique True Hardening.
The Translucent Thunder Rat he killed scattered into hundreds of lightning bolts before returning to its original body.
Apollo floated, his senses observing everything that transpired. Using lightning to create a clone… This rat definitely has some crazy control over lightning, the beggar thought in amazement.
Unlike the Water Attribute, where one can easily shape it as long as they can think of what they want, shaping lightning to the point of creating a clone was an arduous task that required immense talent.
Lightning was chaotic, with branches appearing each second, but the Translucent Thunder Rat's extreme control prevented the lightning it used from turning and merging against itself.
If the rat lost even a bit of control before the clones formed, the lightning would burst out, potentially harming others. Though, as a monster, the Translucent Thunder Rat wouldn't even care if its failure harmed others.
The rat roared at the beggar upon seeing that one of its clones had been killed so easily.
"Do it again, let me see how you do it!" Apollo shouted at the Translucent Thunder Rat, anticipation in his voice. He already knew how the lightning dispersed after a clone of the Translucent Thunder Rat died, and the beggar only needed to learn how the rat formed its clones in order to copy the technique.
This duplication technique used an advanced method of controlling one's attributes, and if Apollo succeeded in copying the rat's technique, his mastery over his attributes would improve significantly. Although his control over his attributes was already at the top, it wouldn't hurt to improve it further.
Besides, the way Apollo shaped his lightning was very different from the rat's. Apollo had achieved such great mastery over his Lightning Attribute that he could form anything he could think of, but it was only the outer layer—inside all those shapes was just empty space. But the Translucent Thunder Rat had created a clone that could think on its own.
As a monster with the equivalent strength of a Core Creation Cultivator, the rat could somewhat understand what the beggar had said. Feeling taunted, the Translucent Thunder Rat mobilized the lightning inside its body before sending it forward.
Thunder reverberated, and as the lightning traveled toward Apollo, it changed shape in a very complex manner.
Apollo narrowed his eyes and saw that from the smallest lightning to the largest, they moved like veins, the branches connecting with other branches. The whole process lasted for less than half a second before the lightning had turned into another clone of the Translucent Thunder Rat.
Apollo's mind recorded everything, even the mysterious force that commanded the formation of the clone. He remembered everything, storing it inside his brain for him to study later on.
A satisfied smile formed on his face.
Activating the True Hardening once more, he faced the Translucent Thunder Rat head-on.
The twenty-meter-tall clone charged at the beggar with its mouth wide open, revealing its translucent, razor-sharp teeth. They glinted under the lightning forming around its body. The clone then chomped its mouth down on the small human.
Faced with the beast's mouth, Apollo didn't lose his cool. He used his Simple Movement Technique, and his body vanished before reappearing on top of the clone. Just like before, he pulled his hand back before sending it toward the rat's head.
However, his senses sent an alarm. He looked up and saw that the tail of the clone had already arrived in front of him.
"Really smart!" Apollo couldn't help but shout in amazement as he let the tail hit his body.
Apollo became a blur, the impact bringing forth a shockwave as his body crashed into the hard sand, creating a long ravine that spanned dozens of meters.
The clone of the Translucent Thunder Rat became a thunderbolt that flew toward where Apollo was. The lightning then transformed back into the clone of the rat, its body gathering all the lightning stored inside of it before sending a lightning strike to the end of the ravine.
An intense light brightened the area and the night sky. A strong burning smell permeated the place, with space churning from the attack.
The clone of the Thunder Rat landed on the ground, its eyes staring at the spot where the lightning had landed. But before the clone rat could see what was hidden behind the dust cloud it caused, it felt its whole body being lifted up, and the world started spinning.
The rat looked down and saw the small human holding its tail.
"That's a cool trick, but it's time to fight the real deal!" Apollo said as he spun the rat clone a few times. Then, he threw the clone back at its original body, which was watching everything unfold.
The Translucent Thunder Rat let out a roar upon seeing one of its clones being hurled toward it. It didn't dodge, and before the clone could hit the rat, the clone dispersed into lightning before the original body absorbed it.
At the same time, more lightning came from two other directions as Apollo's mirages finally killed the remaining clones of the Translucent Thunder Rat.
