Becoming the Villain's Discarded Wife -
Chapter 376: Paper Talisman Donkey
Chapter 376: Chapter 376: Paper Talisman Donkey
The owner of that bracelet.
Shouldn’t it be Su Tao?
And how does it relate to Nannan?
Shen Wenchen couldn’t understand, but the elder seemed to notice his confusion, stroked his beard and started to speak.
"How could a treasure born from the world itself be of such limited use?"
The twinkle in Shen Wenchen’s eyes indicated his understanding.
Since it is a treasure nurtured by the world, it certainly wouldn’t just be an empty space, there must be other uses.
Before he could ask anything else, Shen Wenchen heard the elder, who had just been speaking, had already fallen asleep, occasionally letting out a round of snores.
Only the little donkey seemed tireless, running with a vigour even greater than that of a fine steed.
Chi Sheng, leading his men on horseback, could not see any trace of Nanzhi’s party.
"Boss, should we... should we rest for a bit?"
A short-haired man in a thin robe swayed his head. They had been traveling continuously for two days now. If they were to accidentally pass out from exhaustion while traveling, it could be fatal.
"Let’s rest for an hour then." Chi Sheng was also very tired. At this moment, his phoenix eyes were full of bloodshot veins, looking quite terrifying.
The others all let out sighs of relief when they heard this, dismounting their horses and finding a comfortable place to catch some sleep.
"Are you sure Yuanbao and the others left on a donkey cart?" Chi Sheng thought for a long time without figuring it out.
How could a donkey pull four people and move so fast?
The horses in their village might not be exceptional, but they were definitely stronger than the average donkey. Despite chasing for two hours straight, they still could not see any traces.
"Yes, yes, boss." The man who first reported the situation nodded vigorously, afraid that Chi Sheng would not believe him.
He also found it strange, they had been chasing for half the night and still hadn’t seen anybody!
Some people had already started snoring, while others were still mulling over the events of the day.
After a few moments of silence, someone finally slapped his thigh, as if he had thought of something.
"Boss! That old man, that old man, wasn’t he the old Daoist who came to our camp before?"
With hair as white as snow and a beard as black as coal, who else could it be but that old Daoist?
Once the subject was brought up, the few who were still awake began to recall the events.
They drew connections, and finally the mystery was solved.
If it really was that old Daoist, it wouldn’t be impossible for the donkey to run so fast!
Once they figured this out, everyone was slightly relieved and began to rest.
Chi Sheng bit his lip. The only thing that worried him was that man.
Could he be the one sent by the court?
Thinking about the woman who was holding Yuanbao in her arms, Chi Sheng’s gaze darkened; he did not think further.
Nobody noticed the skinny figure in the corner. After observing them for a while, he seemed to make a big decision and left on his own.
When Nanzhi woke up, the first thing she saw was Shen Wenchen’s chin.
Typically, Wenchen would always groom himself meticulously every time he met her. Nanzhi hadn’t seen him unshaven for quite a while.
Shen Wenchen had a prominent Adam’s apple. Being held in his arms, Nanzhi could clearly see the protrusion when she lifted her eyes, further up was his well-defined chin, and also a glimpse of his nostrils.
Tch, as expected of a stereotypical male antagonist.
He was indeed handsome.
Just waking up, Nanzhi was feeling a bit dazed. She stared at him until his eyes opened, then nodded in satisfaction.
He was indeed her man, certainly a cut above the rest.
"What are you looking at?"
As soon as Shen Wenchen opened his eyes, he saw his wife smiling sweetly at him. Like a little fox, it made him want to kiss her until her lips were swollen.
"I’m checking to see if you’ve been hiding any snacks." Nanzhi giggled, wanting to poke his face but hesitated as there were other people on the donkey cart. She discreetly used the cover of her clothes to pinch his belly.
Hearing his wife’s words, Shen Wenchen was at a loss whether to laugh or cry. He could only indulge in her conversation: "Did you find any hidden snacks?"
Seeing him go along with her, Nanzhi’s laughter became sweeter. She shook her head, pretending to look disappointed: "Nope."
"You silly."
On the donkey cart, Little Yuanbao, because of his young age and the days of traveling, was curled up in Nanzhi’s arms, sleeping soundly. The old man next to them, however, couldn’t stand it anymore.
This love-dovey couple, with their back and forth chatter, couldn’t be more nauseating!
He was getting annoyed by listening to it.
"Ahem."
The old man coughed lightly and straightened his body leisurely.
"Continue, continue. Don’t mind this old man."
Having said that, he directly turned his body to look at them.
"Old sir."
Nanzhi turned a bit red and didn’t say much else. Shen Wenchen, who had thicker skin, didn’t feel awkward at all. He even returned the old man’s gaze with a smile.
"You’ve got thick skin." The old man rolled his eyes, he slapped the small donkey’s butt.
The donkey whinnied and quickened its pace.
When Yuanbao woke up, it was broad daylight. Seeing the familiar path, the little girl widened her round eyes.
"Mother, mother, we’re almost there!"
The little girl, having just woken up, had two blushing cheeks and looked adorable.
"Yes." Seeing the road ahead, Nanzhi felt a little wistful.
She remembered very well that the last time they came down from Qing Fenghan, they found Yuanbao halfway up and stayed overnight here.
Now that they were back, she somewhat felt like she was revisiting old places.
The donkey seemed not to know fatigue. Galloping ahead, it took them straight to the top of the hill, stopping at the main entrance of Qing Fenghan.
The guards didn’t have time to call anyone after hearing the noise. When they saw a donkey cart pulled up at the entrance, they could only do a double take.
"Get off, get off." The old man gestured for them to disembark, and slowly got off himself.
"Thanks for your hard work, little donkey."
Gently patting the little donkey’s head, the old man flicked his fingers and the donkey suddenly transformed into a talisman paper in his hand.
Before Nanzhi and her team could react, the old man had already arrogantly put the object into his jacket.
Yuanbao, with her little bag on her back, happily went to knock on the door. Nanzhi and Wenchen made eye contact and nodded in agreement.
What a great item!
It was as if the old man had heard the calculation in their minds, he glanced at them and walked off into the distance, not bothering with them anymore.
"We should have one too." Shen Wenchen tenderly fixed Nanzhi’s clothes and then held her hand and followed up.
The doorkeeper was a man in his forties. When he heard someone knocking, he looked puzzled. After peeking through the door crack and seeing who was there, he asked warily.
"Who goes there?"
Little Yuanbao slapped the door with both hands and shouted, "Uncle Wang, I am Little Yuanbao! Open the door quickly!"
Hearing that it was Little Yuanbao’s voice, Wang Dashan opened the door.
Seeing the little black girl standing outside, he was slightly hesitant to recognize her.
How could Yuanbao have turned black after going out for a few days?
