Sydney woke up early the following morning but she wasn’t as early as her mates since the side of her bed was already cold.

She sat up and the door to the bedroom came open. Ken walked in with a stone basin in one hand and a small basin in the other. he grinned upon seeing her awake. Good morning!" He greeted.

Good morning." Sydney returned the greeting and went to help him. She took the smaller basin from his hands and he conveniently placed down the bigger basin which she used to shower.

He came to her side and tied up her hair to make it easier to wash her face. "Sydney." He called her seriously and she turned to look at him with questioning eyes. Today was his day to help her in the morning but his countance was a little too serious. What had gotten this wolf’s skirt in a twist?

"First wash up. I’ll tell you about it later." He swallowed his words. She’d be abusing him if he opened his mouth.

"Why are you suddenly grumpy? Tell me...I don’t want you to say I don’t favour you." Sydney washed her face and brushed her teeth successfully. Her Ken was sometimes annoying but he was a good male, he just lacked restraint.

Ken looked at Sydney skeptically not sure if he could trust her words. Because she had just woken up, she was reasonable but.... He groaned and helped her put of her nightdress and into the bath basin. He naturally let his eyes scan her naked spotless body and his throat patched up. He also wanted to mate!

"I’ll be good." His voice was hoarse as he made this promise. If he didn’t get sneaky now, he had to wait days upon days till it was his time to look after her again. He could only imagine what the others would do at that time!

His eyes had begun to drop from Sydney’s ministrations to him. She left his ears and brought her small hand to cup his face. Look at him." Her siren voice made Ken open his heavy eyes to her command. At the dinning table, Ken was so smug as if no one wouldn’t tell what he had done if he didn’t show off. He tied up his hairs to expose the kiss marks Sydney had left on his neck and was extra attentive towards her at the table as he served her foods one after another. Her hands were sore from dealing with Ken’s little monster and he did the job of feeding her.

Ray who was also at the table pretended not to see anything despite the fire in his chest. The memories of the good old days flooded his mind! He sighed and chewed the meat with a sour stomach!

Sydney bore with the looks her other mates cast her and ate. What did they expect from her? She wasn’t shameless to go and ask them herself. Breakfast was done after a while and they set off again. Caden was the one who remained this time round too.

Sydney sat in the empty house with Caden and sighed. "Why didn’t you follow them?" She asked.

"Someone must stay behind to protect you." Caden said as a matter of fact.

Do you know what they are doing leaving home early and coming back late?" She asked curiously.

I have no idea." Caden replied honestly. He had no idea what they were doing.

You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to. Anyway, I’ll go visit my brother. He wasn’t at school when I went by yesterday." She said as she stood up to leave.

"He is alright." Caden spoke from behind her. Sydney halted in her steps and turned to face him. "I and Titan assigned beastmen to keep him safe if he stepped out of the settlements area. You don’t have to worry, those beastmen are great warriors." He assured her. Scott wasn’t a weakling but if he ran into an ambush, it’s be disadvantageous for him.

Okay. I’ll take your word for it. Escort me out. I want to collect some herbs." She said and turned to leave. She had the protection of her mates so it was natural to worry for her brother. Caden’s words assured her and she chose not to dwell on that matter. With a skin bag slung on Caden’s shoulder, they left home and ventured off into the forest to collect herbs. This area of the forest was much familiar since it was the route to the herbivore clans colony.

She took out her book that Scott had made for her to ease her time identifying herbs and begun to collect them after noting the specifics about them. Scott had been metilicous in his actions and rarely was there a herb that wasn’t in the book. They even had detailed descriptions, from leaf pattern to the smell, taste, effect on skin.

Caden couldn’t read but he had a better sense of smell and within half an hour, the bag was full.

"I thought it’d take us a while!" Sydney mumbled as she arranged the herbs to prevent them from getting tangled with the others. Once everything was metilicously in place, she closed her bag and turned to Caden

"How about we play?" Caden suggested with a mischievous glint in his eyes. Sydney raised her eyebrow at Caden and smirked to match his mischevious smile. He usually wasn’t one to be provocative but what was so wrong about it? After the school was established, her job was snatched from her, home was boring, there was hardly much to talk about when she met with Sia and the others!

She came and whispered into Caden’s ear what she wanted to play.

He regretted suggesting this but since they were already here, he’d have to live up to his words. He carried Sydney and sat her on his forearm easily. His eagle eyes scanned around the place and begun to walk west. They walked for a while before coming close to what they had been looking for. Caden lightened his steps and snuck up to hide behind a tree with his female in his hands.

Is it there?" Sydney whispered and Caden looked at her before nodding affirmative. Let me down!" She said and Caden did so. She securely strapped the herb bag in her back and peeped from one side of the tree while Caden peeped from the other side.

In a short distance from them, there was a warthog that was grazing with its little ones. The family of three were extremely busy filling up their stomachs for the day not noticing the couple ogling at them from behind the huge tree.

Ash and the others had finished clearing up the land...the venue where the ground shattering event, the first of its kind in the beast world.

Titan was de-branching the trees with the help of Shawn while he also cut the tree trunks into seats. All of them were downright busy. Yesterday, to take over this place which was originally inhibited by different predators, they got into a serious scuffle till they successfully managed to send the inhabitants out of their homes. This led to the delay of their work and Scott who knew more about this couldn’t stay for long away from school.

At Sydney’s side, she was running like a phantom across the forest with a silly and boisterous laugh echoing all over the forest. It sent chills down the spines of beasts and they went into hiding.

Caden was right behind her to act as cover and sheild her but in his hands was a young warthog that was squealing and honking anxiously calling for its mother.

Behind the couple was a furious and ferocious mama warthog honking in fury at the kidnappers as it gave chase to get back it’s little one.

Caden didn’t know whether to laugh or cry but it was really fun, Sydney’s laughter made him feel like he had returned to his young days. They’d also go out in the wild and provoke the normal beasts though they only hunted and ate their prey. This created a huge fued between the beastmen and beasts and they went for each others necks whenever they met.

This was the first time he had kidnapped a beast. He joined his mate in laughing and ran as fast as he could to catch up with her since the mama warthog was right behind his ass.

They circled the forest as Sydney continued to laugh with tears in her eyes, she wasn’t tired since she was utilising Ash’s speed so she bolted off without getting tired. She enjoyed herself.

Ash who was working stopped and looked up to the sky when he felt Sydney using his innate ability, through their bond, he could feel that she was happy and enjoying herself. He became curious.

"I’ll be going back home to check on Sydney." He said placing down his work. The others stopped and sensed that she wasn’t in any form of danger and seemed rather happy?

"Let’s go together and see." Titan couldn’t accept the fact that she was THAT happy while they were absent. All of them stopped what they were doing and used their mate bond to locate where she was and from a distance, her laughter could be heard. They paused.

From behind the dense forest, a red head could be seen dashing to them.

Sydney was also surprised to see her other mates all standing there looking at her. Behind her, Caden also saw them but he was too busy saving his own ass.

The others were puzzled as to why they were running for their lives
