Chapter 88: Proposals

Michael’s thoughts halted after hearing a commotion outside the room. Jacob frowned and got up from his seat and strode towards the door "What is happening outside?"

The guard beastman of the fox tribe rushed inside the castle after hearing the fox king’s voice. He nervously looked around and whispered, "He is here your majesty"

Jacob widened his eyes and paced out of the room towards the living room of the fox castle. Michael too got up from his seat and followed behind the fox king.

Reaching the living room, both of them caught sight of a giant tiger snarling at the quivering guards. The reddish-brown eyes of the tiger flickered towards them making their breath hitch inside their throat. Jacob gulped in fear and made his way down the stone stairs.

Garrison observed all of Jacob’s movements like a predator watching its prey. Jacob tried his best to maintain a calm smile even though he was ready to bolt out of that place in the next second.

Both of them locked each other’s gaze and before the fox king could speak, he received a heavy blow on his face, making him fall on the hard ground. He coughed up blood and looked at Garrison’s feral eyes "Wait!" his loud voice resounded inside the calm castle, "Hear me out before attacking me, my lord"

Michael staggered in his steps and took a defensive stance as the fox king continued speaking to Garrison "I’m not your enemy my lord, that day when your beloved died, I was never even in the vicinity. It was my father, he was the one who attacked Iria that day, and Theodore already took revenge on that day by killing him. I’m also a victim in all this my lord, my brother perished helping your Iria, you also know that my lord" he blurted out everything in one go because of fear, on another side, Michael cheered him inside his heart to continue speaking.

Jacob got up from the ground and continued "The real cause of Iria’s death is Theodore’s daughter my lord. Iria sacrificed herself to save that newborn, please believe me in this. If you want to avenge your beloved, then you must kill that child"

Garrison maintained his calm face and shifted into his beastman form. A man with brown hair and red eyes stared back at the fox king "You want me to believe that bullshit?"

Jacob flinched hearing his cold voice and opened his mouth "It is the truth my lord, both Theodore, and Gregory hid this from you to save that child"

"How can I believe a cunning beastman like you? Your tribe was the reason for Iria’s demise, and you dare accuse others?" Garrison retorted. He still remembered that night, when the fox tribe attacked the eagle tribe just because of their selfish reasons. That damned ’sapphire of wish’ always caused trouble to his beloved. He wanted to just break it into pieces.

Jacob clenched his fits "What did Theodore and Gregory say to you about that child my lord?" he asked "They must have said that the child died with Iria, didn’t they?"

"That is what happened" Garrison stated, to which Jacob chuckled, "My lord, they lied to you, Iria’s daughter didn’t die that day, Your beloved exchanged her life to save the baby and sent it to another world to keep her safe. But now she is back in the beast world my lord, I can show her to you if you don’t believe me"

Garrison closed his eyes trying to calm his raging nerves "Stop spouting nonsense before I snap your neck"

Jacob just grinned at his words and looked at Michael "Go and bring the witch master of fox tribe, I will clarify everything today"

Michael nodded his head and turned into his beast form, sprinting out of the castle.

"What are you trying to do?" Jacob turned towards Garrison and smiled "I’m trying to prove the truth, please wait for some time, my lord"

After some duration, Michael came inside the fox castle with an old fox beastman. Both of them shifted to their beastman form and strode towards Jacob and Garrison.

The witch master bowed his head at Jacob, greeting him "How can I help you, your majesty?"

Jacob bowed in return and opened his mouth "I want you to show Theodore’s daughter using your powers. Create an image large enough for everyone to see"

The fox tribe’s witch master smiled and nodded his head "As you say, your majesty" then he gathered all of his witch power into his hand and created a screen on the stone wall.

Following that images of a female flickered on it that soon became clear, showing a beautiful woman with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Garrison’s pupils dilated seeing Lyra. He couldn’t believe his eyes and his breathing came out irregular. Tears filled his eyes turning his gaze into bloodshot "Iria?" words came out of his mouth involuntarily.

Jacob smirked seeing him and said "Do you believe me now my lord? Even I found out about her recently. She is the main reason for Iria’s demise" Well, it was indeed true that he realized Lyra’s real identity recently. Now that he observed her features, she looked just like that wench, and Theodore. He was berating himself for not recognizing her sooner.

Garrison clenched his jaws and glared at Lyra. How could he possibly not recognize her? She was a spitting image of Iria, something snapped inside him learning the truth. How dare they lie to me!? They wanted to protect that bug from me!? Well, it was not a good decision. He would kill the child that caused his beloved’s death.

Jacob noticed Garrison’s anger and felt content. His lies were working on Garrison, so he added more to earn his trust "Help me in fighting Theodore and controlling the gem my lord, I promise to bring your beloved back to life"

Garrison dazedly turned to him "What?"

"I’m telling the truth my lord" Jacob asserted "The gem can bring someone back to life, and only Theodore’s daughter can make that wish. Let us exchange her life and bring both my brother and your beloved back to life, what do you say?" He was taking a chance here revealing his motives, his brother’s body was safe in his hands and it was easy for his soul to enter that body, and of course, he also knew that Iria’s body already turned into ashes after the funeral, but he didn’t want to reveal the importance of one’s body for the soul to enter to Garrison because he was betting his luck that Garrison didn’t know that much about these matters.

He narrowed his eyes and continued "Many don’t know about the fox tribe’s ability in bringing the soul back. It can be only done by using ’sapphire of wish’" he paused and added "What do you say, my lord? Help me and you can get your Iria back. Also with this, you can get your revenge on Theodore, He will go crazy after losing his only daughter, please make a good judgment, my lord"

Garrison stared at the fox king and slowly nodded his head "I will help you in this, I don’t care what you do, as long as I can get my Iria back"

Jacob grinned hearing his response "Leave that to me, my lord"
