Chapter 61: Trick

After talking to both queens, Lyra came out of the castle with Noah. Reaching the entrance they caught sight of a guard beastman waiting for them, Noah narrowed his eyes and inquired "Why are you here?"

The guard bowed his head and replied "I’m here by the order of Lion King young master, he asked me to bring you to him"

"Did something happen?" Noah questioned

"The king said it is important and wants to discuss it with you young master" the guard beastman replied politely

Lyra held Noah’s hand "You should go, I will walk by myself, it is only a few minutes of walking"

Noah shook his head "It’s fine, I’ll walk you to the castle first"

She sighed and pushed him slightly "Just go, I’ll be fine"

Noah was reluctant to leave her alone but because of her constant persuasion, he finally left.

Lyra was walking towards the rose palace near the woods when she heard someone’s voice filled anguish, she involuntarily followed the sound and reached inside the woods, after glancing at her surroundings she caught a glimpse of a man suffering from pain, she contemplated a little but her curiosity won over her, She reached the man and observed that he was grunting miserably, his face was covered in sweat and he was struggling to breathe causing his face to turn pale as a sheet.

She stretched her hand and carefully touched his forehead, he was burning with fever "Are you alright?"

Demir groaned and groggily opened his golden iris and stared back at her, Lyra panicked seeing his bloodshot eyes "My goodness, what happened to you?" then she removed her scarf and wiped his face.

Demir adjusted his foggy pupils a little to get a good look at her, he blinked in a daze looking at the stunning face in front of him, but soon his vision started to blur and it got more difficult for him to breathe. Lyra screamed inside her mind looking at his pain-stricken face, she started to run her mind to come up with something to help him and soon her eyes flashed, She bent down towards him "I’m sorry, I have to do this"

Demir held her shoulders and stopped her "Go away from me, I might hurt you"

"You need my help" she nervously said to him

Demir clenched his jaws trying to control the release of his poison, it was very dangerous for someone to stay near him in this condition, but this stubborn female was not listening to him. He concentrated his mind trying to push back the venom, it was successful but due to exhaustion, he became more vulnerable.

Lyra noticed his pale face and made up her mind, she pinched his nose making him open his mouth, then started passing air from her mouth to his, she took a deep breath and passed the air into him. After doing it for some time, Demir’s breathing relaxed and she sighed a relief, then she ran towards the stream nearby and scooped water in her small hands and came to him "Drink this" she made him drink the water through her hands. Seeing him greedily gulping the water she ran for few more times to bring more water. Demir’s poison stopped acting up and he opened his golden pupils to stare back at striking dark blue eyes in front of him.

Lyra was breathing heavily because of all that running, she smiled at him "You are fine now"

And slumped against the tree beside him feeling tired "I was so scared" then she glanced at him "Why were you all alone in such a condition?"

Demir relaxed a little and opened his mouth "I don’t have anyone who can help me in such a situation"

She frowned "What about your parents?"

Demir smiled faintly "I do have my father"

Then she patted his shoulders "See, there is always someone who cares about us, we should open our eyes properly and recognize them"

"You talk nicely" Demir commented

Lyra blinked her eyes "I do? maybe" then she got up "I should leave now, you also should go back to your house"

Demir widened his eyes, she was leaving just like that? "Wai-wait! can you stay for some more time?"

"Why?"

Demir wore a sad face "I just want to talk to you more"

Lyra’s heart melted seeing his sad face, he looked like a puppy kicked out by his master, she thought for some time, it was just talking anyway "Okay, I will stay for some more time"

Demir’s eye gleamed, he gave her some space to sit. After sitting in silence for a few minutes, he broke the silence "Why did you save me?"

Lyra glanced at him "Because you were in pain"

"Would you help anyone in my place?" he questioned

"Yes, I would" came her quick reply

He nodded his head "You would also kiss anyone for helping them?"

Lyra choked on her saliva, she nervously looked at him "You were awake?" she thought that he was unconscious and that made her brave enough to continue with the first aid. she gritted her teeth and bowed her head "I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have done that without your permission, it was purely for the sake of helping you"

Demir chuckled seeing her cute apologizing face, first of all, he didn’t mind her kissing him, anyone with a sane mind would not reject her voluntarily, she was too pretty and he just wanted to continue conversing with her and that kiss was the only topic that came to his mind.

"It’s fine, I know you were trying to help me" he replied because he couldn’t bear looking at her sulking face.

She raised her head and beamed at him, Demir went into a daze looking at her dazzling smile, for the first time in his life his lips arched into a genuine smile, his heart palpitated inside his chest, he never wanted the time to end. The female in front of him was like sunshine in his dull and desolate life, was this how Blake and Victor felt when they met thier beloved? he continued observing her features engraving everything into his heart, Lyra blinked at him and tilted her head in confusion "Are you daydreaming?"

He came out of his reverie, Dream? he didn’t want this to be a dream, it was very cruel to him if all the warmth and care he received from his sunshine was a dream. She didn’t care about her safety and helped him in his dire situation, because of her he controlled his venom from seeping out of his body when she touched him, it was the first time for him to do something like this.

She didn’t help him with any ulterior motive, he could clearly see that in her sparkling eyes. She genuinely wanted to help someone in trouble, then a thought came to his mind, ’What if she learns that I’m a savage beastman? would she run away from him feeling disgusted to even be near him just like his mother? will the sunshine that he finally found detest and shun him? he started to feel anxious thinking about all these possibilities, he closed his eyes and blurted out "I’m a scorpion beastman, aren’t you scared of me?"

Lyra was baffled by his random question, she carefully asked him "Should I get scared of you?"

"What?"

she blinked her eyes in confusion "Why should I be scared of you? You look like a nice guy" Lyra was particularly biased towards handsome men and he never showed any signs of harming her, so she didn’t understand his thought about her hating him.

Demir smiled sadly "But every female hates us cold-blooded beastmen, even my mother disliked me"

Lyra was taken aback by his words, ’To receive hate from his mother, how unfortunate’. she remembered that Blake was also a cold-blooded beastman but he was fortunate to not receive any hate from his parents. On the other hand, Victor’s past was truly tragic, his father traumatized that poor guy, she knew that his happy go attitude was just a facade to mask his miseries and now this golden-eyed stranger received hatred from his mother, she couldn’t even imagine hating her babies, they were also cold-blooded. Then she glanced at his sad face, her body involuntarily moved to embrace him "It must have been hard for you to go through that, I’m sorry"

Demir froze in his place, his pupils shook and moisture welled up inside them, he hugged her back tightly, his heart warmed up, he felt a sense of belonging, he finally found his ray of sunshine, his throat choked not allowing him to reply to her, he liked this moment, this silence was the most peaceful time he ever had in his life.

Lyra continued stroking his back for a few more minutes and slightly pulled away from him "Don’t worry about the ones who hate you, start cherishing the ones who love you, they will always stay by your side"

He maintained his silence and didn’t talk anything. After some time Lyra noticed that it was already dark and got up to leave "I think I should go now, my mates will be worried"

Demir clasped her hands, he felt his anger rising when he heard that she already had mates, he felt like tearing them apart. He soon calmed his raging anger and spoke to her "can I meet you again?"

Lyra was surprised "Why?"

Demir clenched his fists "I want to get to know more about you"

Lyra understood that he took an interest in her and cursed her luck, it was always like this. First, it was Victor and now him, she didn’t want to give hope and then break his heart, so she vaguely replied "I’ll try"

Demir raised his brows because he realized that she was trying to draw a line between them, then he looked at her nervous face, Did she think that he would let her go so easily? that was not his personality, but he didn’t want to scare her just yet and carefully spoke "It’s fine, I know that I’m not that likable, I’m used to this"

Lyra suddenly felt guilty, she was scolding herself for hurting someone so polite to her even after getting rejected, she pursed her lips "It’s not that" then she sighed "Okay, I will meet you again"

Demir smirked inwardly, he knew this method would work on her, she was too soft for someone so cunning like him, now the only thing left was to eliminate her other mates without her knowledge, then his sunshine would only belong to him.

Lyra just felt sorry and failed to notice that he guilt-tripped her into his bidding. Demir broke the silence "What is your name?"

"It is..." before she could continue she heard Blake’s voice

"Lilly!"

Lyra looked back at Demir and hastily said to him "I have to go now".

Demir tried to stop her from leaving but she was faster than him, after running for a few minutes she saw Blake’s frantic face " Blake I’m here"

Blake turned towards the noise and strode to her "Where were you, Lilly?"

Lyra looked towards the forest "There was someone in need of help inside the forest, I couldn’t neglect it"

Blake glared at her "Why do you always put yourself in trouble?" he was angry at her, what if this was some kind of trap from enemies?

"I’m sorry" she sheepishly apologized

He sighed "Don’t do something like this again, I’m worried about you Lilly"

She nodded her head and followed him to the rose palace.
