Kaizer sat stunned in his place. Lyra’s question left him shocked because he didn’t know how to answer it.

It was a simple question. Lyra asked why she was naked and covered in his robe and all he had to do was answer her truthfully. But the problem was, he didn’t know how to inform her that she got bathed by a stranger like him. Anyone would find it strange and he knew that Lyra would be no different. She was grateful to him for saving her but about seeing her naked.....he felt more and more troubled as time passed and to make it worse, he felt her imploring eyes not leaving him.

’’I-i’’ he cleared his throat before continuing, ’’I wanted to remove any residue of the powder that affected you, so...’’

’’So?’’ Lyra implored more and he finally admitted it out loud, ’’So I gave you a bath!’’

Kaizer resignedly closed his eyes not daring to look at her reaction. He was ready to get cursed out for taking advantage of her vulnerability and waited with batted breaths to get a scolding but what he heard next was the opposite and far different from what he imagined.

’’Sorry’’ Her soft voice rang inside the silent cave making him open his eyes. He looked at her in confusion. Why was she the one apologizing to him? If anyone then it must have been him that must apologize. Kaizer stared at her as though waiting for her to speak more.

Lyra gazed at the man and parted her lips, ’’You must have felt extremely uncomfortable doing that. Still, you put my safety first and for that, I thank you’’ A small smile tugged on her lips as she added, ’’You really are a good man’’ Seeing him uncomfortably squirming in his place made her realize that he was feeling awkward facing her. If seeing her in the eye and talking troubled him this much, then she couldn’t imagine how he must have felt while bathing her. But not caring about his discomfort, he put her first, and that saved her.

Not all beastmen might be comfortable interacting with a female. It would be too arrogant of her to think like that. And the one in question here was Kai. Lyra just felt like he was too soft and innocent for this world.

As Lyra’s imagination ran wild with thoughts like these, Kaizer on the other side looked at her in disbelief. She was saying that he was a good man? He?

Kaizer was far from good. Yes, he felt awkward at first but recalling his thoughts during bathing her made him gulp. He barely managed to keep his dark urges from devouring her back then. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have marked him as a good man and that somehow tickled his heart.

He liked that she had such a favorable opinion of him. So he decided to play dumb for now if it meant gaining her trust.

’’How is his majesty doing?’’ Nathan asked with a frown on his face. He had not yet changed from his blood-soaked robes and anxiously looked at the figure lying on the bed. He and a few guards carried their king back from the fox tribe and the blood that stained his outfit was from their king’s injuries.

’’I have treated him for now but recovering entirely lies with his majesty’’ answered the witch master of the eagle tribe. He had never seen the king in such a dire condition even when Kyrell was just a prince and went on dangerous missions in the past.

Due to the fight that broke out in the Fox tribe, their king was severely injured. Snake king, Vulture king, and Scorpion prince were deemed as enemies when they dared to attack their king. The elders of the eagle tribe chased out some of the vulture beastmen that were still taking shelter in the eagle tribe.

When the Vulture tribe was attacked by the strays, it was King Kyrell that went to help them without hesitation. But the only thing thier king and tribe received for doing such a favor was getting attacked unfairly. Not one but three immortal beastmen ganged up on their king. It was a despicable act and the eagle tribe would never forget today’s incident.

Nathan respected his king long before he even became one but he also had to admit that the worst decision ever made by their king is choosing that female. Their king who was the strongest was now lying like a lifeless one due to that female.

One of the elders of their tribe entered the room while continuing his words, ’’It is not yet late to save our king from that wicked female’s clutches. ’’Our king is not the one to change that easily’’

’’Then we have to make him change. We have to convince him by showing the true face of the female that he loves’’

’’But as you say, he loves her’’ Nathan said with a tired sigh, ’’Males become blind when they are in love. Their lover can be the vilest to ever exist but they will still dedicate their life to them and our king is a male like that. We can’t just change him just because we want to’’

The elder pursed his lips a thin line. He could understand Nathan’s words but he still had to try, ’’We can’t give up without even trying’’ then he turned towards the guard near the door, ’’Send word to Alice. The time has come for her to return to the tribe’’

Nathan’s eyes went wide as soon as those words left the elder’s mouth. He stood in disbelief, ’’Elder? By bringing lady Alice back, what are you trying to do.....?’’

But the elder didn’t answer his question and left that place.
