Chapter 205: Traitor

Chaos! It was utter chaos inside the fox tribe. Three immortal king beastmen targetted another one of their kind and attacked him. And the one who was getting beaten up was the eagle king. Blood trickled down from the wounds that he received. The eagle beastmen who could not withstand their king getting hurt tried to attack the opponents. But that seemed impossible because the trio of Snake, Vulture, and Scorpion tribes stopped the eagle beastmen from going anywhere near the battlefield. Together, they decided to support their kings and prince, which turned the entire scene upside down.

Even the scorpion king stood speechless in his place. His hands were tied as of now. He always knew that his son was the real king of their tribe and the scene happening in front of him solidified that fact. His tribesmen were accepting him as their king for Demir’s sake. Demir refused in taking over the throne and his tribesmen respected their prince’s choice. However, the scorpion king learned that his tribesmen will always side with their prince if something comes up like today.

’’Do something you brat! They will destroy the entire city like this!’’ King Helio yelled at his son, ’’Lucas! I’m talking to you’’ He repeated when his son didn’t respond and only stood stupidly while staring at the fight.

Lucas briefly glared at his father before walking out of that place, ’’I will not do anything. That bastard deserves it after losing my mate’’ It was not like he could anyway stop those rogues from fighting. He had better things to do. His mate was missing and he had no intention of wasting his time here.

Then he remembered something and that made him glance at his friend, ’’Are you coming?’’

’’Let’s go’’ an unwavering voice replied to him. Noah cast a gaze on his father before walking out of the fox tribe.

King Leonard understood his son’s gaze. There was nothing more important to his son now other than his mate. Both Lucas and Noah were abandoning their duty as city guards. But who could blame them? It was a given for males to prioritize their females during a dire situation. The lion king admitted to himself that he would have also done the same in thier position.

’’Those brats’’ The lion king heard his friend mutter. Nonetheless, he knew Helio would also do the same in this situation. He too would have gone to look for his mate even if it meant deserting his tribe.

Coming to such a conclusion, they could do nothing but try to stop the immortal beastmen by themselves. Foremost they had to stop the Snake, Vulture, Eagle, and Scorpion beastmen before going after thier kings.

’’Listen everyone! Try to stop the tribes from attacking each other’’ said king Leonard, ’’The silver wolf and Lion tribes will keep the eagle tribe safe, whereas the others will take care of the rest’’

’’Are we clear!’’ King Helio finished giving the order in an authoritative tone and the beastmen bowed, ’’Yes your majesty!’’

With that, every tribe present including the ones from the fox tribe started to separate the eagle tribe and stopped them from fighting further. However, the real problem was keeping them safe from the other three tribes that wanted to tear the former apart. Amidst all this, they didn’t even try to stop any of the immortal king beastmen. That was because it was akin to suicide if they even went their way. Leaving those immortal beastmen on their own was the best course of action that they could take for now.

They were barely able to suppress the tribes from fighting but another problem arrived right after that. The familiar freezing sensation crawled through their feet making everyone halt in their own places.

The giant Snake, Vulture, and Scorpion who were attacking the Golden eagle came to stop. They succumbed to the ground due to the ice freezing their entire body.

Xavier unclenched his tightly gripped fist. Blood trickled down from his palm and covered the ground. The sheer strength he had put into controlling his bloodlust was immense. He had a hard time stopping himself from charging at the idiots in front of him. He still didn’t know why they were fighting but he could guess. Something must have happened to that pretty female for them to act like this. And that had nothing to do with him. It was not his place to worry about her.

’’Get out of here!’’ his domineering voice thundered across the fox tribe. He glanced at his tribesmen and roared, ’’Throw all of them out of my territory before I kill them!’’

The fox guards flinched in fear but soon recovered their composure before escorting the guests out of their tribe. Thier king looked so angry and they didn’t want to make any more mistakes.

Xavier removed his gaze from them before glancing at his aide, ’’How the hell did those strays enter my territory?’’ He already picked up the scent of those rodents as soon as he entered the scene but he couldn’t understand how they were even able to infiltrate his place. Xavier made sure to train the guards before the coronation banquet. According to him, he must have been informed before those strays could even come anywhere near the fox tribe. But the scene here was something else. Not only did they enter through the front gates but also dared to attack his guests.

’’They have somehow infiltered through the guards your majesty’’ Kyle informed, ’’Our guards near the front gates were found dead’’

’’And that did not alert any of you?’’ Xavier asked with a narrowed gaze and Kyle had nothing to say about that. The strays perfectly killed every hidden guard near the gates and that too without alerting others. It was as though someone ratted them out to those stray beasts. But who? This was the biggest question right now. To have a traitor amongst themselves was shameful for the entire fox tribe.

’’So there is a traitor inside our tribe’’ Xavier affirmed. Not many knew about the hidden guards protecting the walls. They were strong beastmen who were trained by Xavier and were tasked to act as shadows to guard the tribe. No one could spot them at first sight because they hid themselves perfectly and worked with efficiency. And for them to get killed? Only someone who knew well about the tribe’s security must have informed the stray beasts, ’’I’ll kill them with my own hands’’ he owed to find the traitor no matter what but before that..., he hesitantly glanced at Kyle before parting his lips, ’’What happened to that female?’’

Kyle stopped in his steps and looked at the king in confusion, ’’Which female your majesty?’’ and as though remembering something he started to ramble, ’’Her highness the princess is safe your majesty. The guards and her mates escorted her back to her palace as soon as those strays attacked. You don’t need to worry about your sister because...’’ He closed his mouth when Xavier lifted his hand signaling him to stop talking further.

’’I’m not talking about, Lexi’’ Xavier uttered through his clenched jaw, ’’I’m talking about that female with blue eyes, the snake king’s mate’’

’’Ah, that female?’’ Kyle blurted out, ’’She seemed to have gone missing. That was why those other kings were beating the eagle king. It is such a shame.....she was so beautiful’’

’’Missing?’’ Xavier felt his throat tighten. Why did she...? what if those stray beasts took her? No! He shook his head trying to remove those negative thoughts from his mind. Those good-for-nothing males of hers! Why did she even take them in if they are incapable of keeping her safe?

’’Kyle’’ He said.

’’Yes, your majesty?’’

’’You can lead the investigation regarding the strays right?’’

’’Yes....what do you mean by that, your majesty?’’ Kyle asked not understanding the direction of this conversation.

Xavier briefly closed his eyes before opening them. He was determined, ’’I’m leaving everything to you’’ with that he shifted into his beast form before sprinting out of the tribe meanwhile Kyle stood in his place dumbfounded.
