Chapter 200: Blaming her

The banquet came to a sudden halt due to the ice freezing the surroundings. But as soon as it melted away, everything went back to normal.

The guard beastmen of the fox tribe had a hard time relighting the bonfires because the wood had become damp once the ice melted. They had to bring in new dry wood from the storage to light the fire.

No one other than a handful of people knew about Xavier’s powers, so it was hard for the majority to guess the cause of the unknown phenomenon that occurred a few minutes ago. And the ones that already knew the truth tactfully closed their mouth hence preventing Xavier’s secret from knowing to outsiders. It was not like Xavier asked them to keep his powers a secret, but it was more like the right thing to do. Him being an immortal beastman was already enough in boosting his tribesmen’s egos, so disclosing more of his mystic powers might cause them to act recklessly toward the others tribes.

After the completion of the coronation ceremony, the fox king left the plaza before heading towards the fox castle. It was not acceptable for the host to leave the banquet, but no one dared to question him when they noticed his foul mood. He practically rushed out of the banquet like a dangerous tornado and the only thing that was left after he did so was an eerie silence.

’Bang’ Xavier fisted the stone walls of the empty castle as soon as he reached there. The surrounding walls shook due to the impact and large debris fell on the ground together with dust and soil.

Xavier felt like he resembled the fallen walls....No, it was more of his heart that resembled the walls. Broken and plummeting. Just witnessing her hugging another male shook his entire being. He felt like he was falling down a steep hill. His insides clenched uncomfortably hurting him.

This pain that he was feeling right now felt like no other that he had experienced before. Not when he learned the truth of his birth or when his father tried to kill him secretly while he was in exile. Xavier never said this to others because it didn’t matter. His own father sending some witch masters and guards to finish him off never mattered to him. It was because he killed every single one of them leaving no mercy. But why? Why did the pain during his most difficult time and near-death experience didn’t hurt him this much, yet only seeing her hug one of her mates hurt him like this?

’’Just why?’’ Xavier felt like banging his head against the stone wall. Maybe then he might be able to clear his head. He was sure that his head was not working properly. There was no other explanation for his eccentric behavior other than him being mad.

’Mad king’ this title seemed to fit him very well. The mad king who froze his own coronation banquet just because he saw a random female hugging a stupid beastman.

’’As expected, she is a witch’’ When nothing made any more sense and he was almost on the verge of losing his mind, Xavier decided to put all the blame on Lyra. He felt like he would otherwise burst with all his pent-up stress and anger.

That pretty female had done something to him for him to act like this. His thoughts ran wild without any restraint. After somewhat calming his nerves, he decided to return to the banquet.

He leisurely walked out of the fox castle with slow steps. Xavier felt conflicted. He wanted to walk fast and reach the banquet as soon as possible because his pathetic self wanted to see that pretty female for the last time. The conclusion he reached after thinking for a long time was keeping his distance from her. He wanted to stay far away from someone like her who dared to bewitch him.

So this was the last time. He would however get busy with his tribe’s matters after taking over the throne and she rarely stepped out of the rose castle.

This too irked him. What the hell was she doing copped up in the same space with those idiots? Was she hugging all of them like she did today? Or more than that? Was she kissing them!?

Xavier felt the familiar discomfort return as soon as he thought more about it. He remembered hugging her that day when she was crying. She felt so warm and soft. And her scent! She smelled like a certain flower that he didn’t remember..... Wait, she smelled like roses. Maybe it was because she stayed in the rose castle. He noticed a rose garden inside the castle.

But why did he remember that? He was never the one that liked flowers. They are fragile and easily breakable. Now that he thought about it, she resembled a flower, No, particularly a rose flower. Beautiful, enchanting, could lure poor souls like him to her. And most importantly, like how a rose has sharp thorns, she had those males by her side.

It was really detestable. Why did she have so many males by her side? And the answer to that was quite easy. It was because she was hungry for power and status as queen of multiple tribes. He hated her the more he thought of her.

With all these thoughts swirling inside his mind, he finally reached the banquet but he came to a sudden halt, and his eyes narrowed dangerously.

The sight in front of him shocked him. For a long time, Xavier was not able to guess the cause for the banquet turning into such a mess.

The entire space was filled with blood and gore and he saw familiar figures standing in the middle of all of this chaos. A giant black snake, a Fierce looking vulture, and a detestable black scorpion. They were in their beast form and tore apart anyone that came near them.

Xavier clenched his fists in anger. How dare they do this inside his territory!? Claws protruded from his fingers and his arms got covered in silver-white fur. The rage in him was turning him into his beast form. But when he was on the verge of losing his last sanity, Xavier remembered something.

His heart viciously drummed inside his chest as his eyes roamed around as though desperately trying to find someone. And when he did not find her, his mind went blank for a good minute.

Xavier felt like he was losing his strength to stand his ground. He breathed erratically while trying to not think anything negative. Nothing would have happened to her right?
